V. M. Myasishchev Experimental Design Bureau (Экспериментальный Машиностроительный Завод им. В. М. Мясищева) or OKB-23, founded in 1951 by Vladimir Myasishchev) was one of the chief Soviet aerospace design bureaus until its dissolution in 1960. Vladimir Myasishchev went on to head TsAGI. In 1967, Myasishchev left TsAGI and recreated his bureau, which still exists to this day. The bureau prefix was "M." As of 2003[update], its workforce is estimated at approximately one thousand.

A man well ahead of his time. All his concepts have been implemented as time goes by. The only problem unfortunately for him is many other areas of technology were not advanced enough to implement his concepts in his time. Every one of his concepts has proved to be practical. Nice models. I think I spotted a B-57, B-70 Valkyrie and a B-2 in there. It's unfortunate that Vladimir was never given the opportunity to build many of his designs. It seem the is the USSR as in the US, chemical rockets had a hold on space launches,

One thing I love about the USSR designers is that they think out side the box. they design very good beautiful planes. I love about 95% of those futuristic design. it is just because they do not have a lot of money to back up this design is the reason they behind and many of them do not make it pass the design concept stage.

@solnegrolunaroja Majority of US railroads has been made by Russian Imperial Engineering Corps. in 1860ies. Russian seashore access is defragmented, generally locked by straights (Dardanelles, Danish), could be frozen in winter. Routes and naval stations are located not perfectly and could easily be blockaded. After Crimean war tensions remained so Russian Navy moved to high seas using american ports on Pacific and Atlantic. So railroad system was rquired for interconnect (heavy machinery, ammo).

@larry81076 Not really. The reason most piston engines have multiple cylinders is for smoother running and minimizing the mass of the flywheel. These reasons do not apply to rocket engines. Using several combustion chambers in a rocket instead of one big one of equivalent power reduces thermal efficiency and adds weight because more material is required.

@Maloy7800 Same thing was in rocked and space industry. Especially between Korolev Chelomei and Glushko. Soviets had lost Lunar Race because of that brothelhouse. Proton was lunar rocket in fact. To launch Lunar Ship and third stage on LEO. Without a crew. Command module could be brought there separately on less vibrating Soyus rocket, and docked to Lunar module and the booster. But Korolev decided to get whole the project wth his N-1 and died shortly after. Chelomei was killed on his dacha.

@SapperK9 It's no secret that the Germans made major contributions to the US space program (also the USSR's). As I once heard someone boast, "OUR German scientists are better than THEIR German scientists!" But seriously, the US had plenty of home-grown talent in the aerospace business. Don't forget that Robert Goddard was the first to build a practical liquid-fueled rocket, and Wherner Von Braun has credited Goddard with teaching him a lot about rocketry in the 1930's.

@solnegrolunaroja Not quite. Sikorsky is OLDER than Myasishev and others. He was born in Tsar Russia and was the son of a VERY rich psychiatrist, who financed his studying and first projects. All others were from poor families and the Soviets allowed them to get education and explore their talents. Hence the loyalty.
