I’m fanatical about keeping my iMac display clean to the point of madness. I use a sanding block with a high quality microfiber cloth on the surface. I first clean it and then actually use a car wax and apply a very thin coat. I wipe it off (with water sprits to aid in removal) and finally buff to streak free super finish (and protection) using the block and microfiber. You cannot get uniform pressure using your hand. A 3M rubber sanding block will make your life much easier and your display perfect. I’ve seen no better displays. Ever. I mean spot free. Perfect :-)

Wow, this really worked! I kept trying to clean my screen with the same old microfibre cloth and every time I would just make it worse. Grabbed a new cloth out of the pack and only touched one side and no streaks at all! Thanks! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Thank you so much! Did exactly what you said, and it worked perfectly. Both my computer screen and my TV is now perfectly clean without any streaks.

Thank you good sir! I never was able to clean a glossy screen for long years, but now I can with ease. I realized that a dry microfiber cloth is the best you can do to it, once the majority of gunk is removed.

Well, That's one way to clean your screen. Seems to be the proper way to do it. With your experience and background I tend to believe you know what your talking about. To many "other" ways seem to be old wise tales. 99% of which still have streaks. Thanks for doing the video.

This guy nails why you can't get a monitor clean... every time you touch the cloth you're using, you're getting your hand oils on the cloth. I would think the solution would be to first wash and dry your hands thoroughly, and then only use one side of the cloth for touching, and the other for the screen... Maybe mark the sides with a permanent pen? Update: lol he just gave the exact same advice I just did about marking and only touching one side. Turns out my cloth has a tag on one side, so that's the side for my hand...

Thanks, Ken. Ya know, it might be nice if you added the specs on that type of cloth you can buy. Just a little type in the description below. I couldn't really understand what you said so I had to go back and watch it a few times and then guess it by looking it up which took way too much of my precious time.....that was a joke, HAHA - No, but seriously, just a thought.

You can also pick up some moist towelettes from restaurants. It is very effective removing oil off the screen. Especially if your phone LCD screen got some oil from your face, you can wipe it and then your phone will look like new.

Those may work well on glass. Probably not a good idea for a flexible LCD/LED display.

Because I have to protect my hands from nearly all products to begin with, I wear nitrile gloves to handle my cleaning products. No oils ever touch the monitor screen or the cloth, my hands never come in contact with the harsh whatever (even water can be an issue at times), and it's a win-win all around. The microfiber cloth is never touched by anyone but me, again with gloved hands and I don't touch anything else at all during that time.

I have a comment--question really, is the (surgically clean) cloth to be used dry? If not then what is it moistened with?

I got a 2015 MacBook Pro which came with that small black cleaning cloth with the apple logo on one side. Its coming up on 8 months. Can I put it in a bowl of water and Woolite. Rinse out in water, then Alcohol...final air dry?

where can u get these two side micro fiber cloth from ??? is there special name for them ?
@servicedept24546 жыл бұрын
The intelligent answer, in contrast to Joe's, is that Ken's simply referring to a MF cloth that has contrasting colour/print on each side. So that one can easily distinguish the side to touch fron the side to clean with. Nothing unusual about the fabric.

Why has nobody marketed a cleaning cloth that comes in a sealed packet like eyeglass cleaners come in? Most people don't have the mental discipline to only handle one side of a cleaning cloth. And even if you do how do you get the cloth perfectly clean to begin with?

I tried but it's endless circle, alcohol makes smudges that can't be removed with dry cloth, when i use a cloth with a little bit of water there are smears everywhere.
@thefirstman20078 жыл бұрын
Just a question, when you put your hand inside the zip lock bag, you are transferring your oils to the inside of the bag, which will surely then transfer to both sides of the cloth!?
@KenTheoriaApophasis8 жыл бұрын
hehehe , i didnt say to stroke the inside of the bag
@servicedept24546 жыл бұрын
With the moisture-wicking property of MF, it's more likely oil will be absorbed by the cloth than the bag. (and then wicked to the other side)

Yes. He's just doing a literal translation and interpretation of "No Good" into Spanish and leaving the verb "to be" out. If you are not fluent in a language is best not to use it or do some research before doing so. Not criticizing, just explaining with all the respect in the world.
