This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Being at the crossroads of technology, policy and economics, Timur is passionate about finding new innovative solutions to address the shortfalls across the energy value chain and works to “connect those dots that have not been connected yet”. At TEDxDonauinsel, Timur presented how uniquely important behavioural change is for our future energy system and how it can be done.
An avid physics lover, Timur is an energy economist at the International Energy Agency, where he is a co-author of the annual World Energy Outlook, the IEA’s flagship publication. Timur’s family, education and work made many cities his home: Vienna, Istanbul, London and Paris. He has travelled to and worked on projects in countries such as Bangladesh, Myanmar and Iraq, where he has witnessed first-hand the impact that energy has on people’s lives.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
