September was a brutal month metal detecting for me. I was due for a slump after a red hot August. But October brought me my first gold coin. It took thinking outside the box an trying something new. I joined the Staten Island History Hunters Metal Detecting Club and I tried my first metal detecting seeded hunt.

CASPER METAL DETECTING here...Glad you had a great time ! Finds are the bonus at seeded hunts - the friends and stories and fun is where its at 👍...My first detecting experience was a seeded hunt in 1973 at age 10 - using a borrowed Whites Gold MASTER . Guys from down south that were first ones to hit loaded civil war spots donated about 1000 3 ringers to the kids hunt and they buried Ike dollars and halves for the kids. Hunt was put on by the New England Treasure Finders which at one time was the largest club in the USA. I got my own detector in 1975. Congrats on the GOLD!

So pleased for you I to joined a club dig on Sunday large parsnip field Digging everything as not learnt enough yet and just as I was calling it a day I found my first coin George 1 half penny 1722 it's my gold coin Great idea on the beach and like mine was a fun day out 🎉

Found 2 gold coins in 50 yrs. Of hunting on was in the water and the other was at a flee market bought it for 50cent out of a box of junk keep on diggin!!!😊

All those wheats that they skipped over I wonder what they would think if they found out they skipped over a 1909 VDB! Well I metal detected for the first time today. Hit the front yard for about 20 minutes after work with my new Xterra Pro. Four finds: foil, foil, a metal screw, and my first clad penny! I'd have kept detecting in the dark if the mosquitos weren't so bad.

I havnt found an actual silver dime that was just dropped naturally in the 60s or something The first one I found was in a coin spill with some modern coins under the swings, so some little brat just got silver in thier change from the corner store and dropped it for me to find Second one I found under swings in a different park, but I dont think it was dropped by a swinger, I found coins in the sand around the swings from 1940-1968, pennies and nickels, and the 1963 dime, so I think they were brought in with the fill sand from somewhere older Ive only been a detectorists since April though, I think I did good for 5 or 6 months, got a small gold chain, and lots of cheap 925 jewlery

That looks like fun!! Iv always wanted to do one ,but never want to go alone. I just bought my son a detector & took him out a few times to show him the ropes. We are both going to dig a 200 year old property in North Jersey for a fundraiser next weekend. It's being run by a club,so hopefully I can talk to someone there about joining. When you were talking about the planted treasures, my thoughts went to the ones that cover their faces as extra effort to hide their location do to them finding artifacts which you know won't be known to local governments due to the trouble they would be in! Really love this channel. Been metal detecting with my Whites XLT for 25 years. Bought it new for 800.00 bucks way back when and it has paid for itself 10 times over, and still my favorite. Just got an Excalibur last year and although it’s pretty heavy and doesn’t have a VID screen, it’s starting to pay off in the waist high waters that I couldn’t reach with the XLT. I’m in SE Mass. and consider myself lucky.

Promise 30 years I metal detected but I never detected the beach and I was born on a beach. That beachh being Hilton Head Island but for that long I never detected the beach until just recently and I felt that exact same way. Everyone was looking at me and staring and taking pictures and videos of me trying to hide it and I feel like a total dweebs/nerd...
