But over here is a common thing that people will beep out to friends they see in the car or wherever they are. I thought it was only used rarely, being correction like Pyrion stated. Not as a friendly gesture too. Its like Russian roulette in if they are beeping cause your a bad driver or that it's your mate. I hope they see this comment!

Bears run faster than even peak physical humans, so as an average human running is never the correct answer. In school we were taught "If it's brown lay down (play dead), if it's black fight back (make yourself big)". The issue with this is actually that some brown bears look black and some black bears look brown, so it doesn't always work in practice.
@OliverRPendle3 жыл бұрын
You're absolutely right, I know it as "If it's brown, lie down. If it's black, fight back. If it's white... goodnight" - but it's like a lot of things, this sort of advice is the minimum you can do to hopefully survive, but there's always going to be exceptions. Black bears are more aggressive than brown bears I believe and actually if I'm correct, despite what most people might think, most deaths from bears actually come from Black bears rather than Brown even though brown bears are usually much bigger. I think most people who die from brown bears die by accident from being trampled or knocked over or killed in defence, whereas, although still very rare, most aggressive attacks come from black bears. In the end, if you're unlucky enough to walk by a starving bear... you're pretty buggered whatever you do.

Former Journalist here - Pyrion, those kind of farmer stories will usually be picked up on a local level for a regional paper, like the one I worked for, either by the farmer calling up or through social media. Everyday nations scan local press for quirky "interesting" stories which they will then steal for the nationals. I had one stolen about an estate that was overrun by feral chickens and it was in the Metro and Daily Mail... using my quotes and no credit to me..

I feel like I'm losing my mind here, did Lewis just advocate a conspiracy theory of colluding seed sellers to artificially inflate snack food prices by adding meal worms to bird seed? 🤣 Love this podcast lol
@knitterknerd3 жыл бұрын
The only good reason I can think of to discourage people from eating birdseed is if it isn't food grade for some reason, or they just don't want to bother to get it approved by the government as safe for humans, or whatever. But adding mealworms would be a really weird way to do it.

Pyrion is confused because he added "The" to "South Australian Police". It is not "The South of Australia", it is a state that is "South Australia" directly opposite of "North Australia", which is why Lewis didn't have a problem understanding that it's extant since he was thinking of it as "South Australian Police". In other words, you wouldn't have a problem understanding that there is a "North Carolina" or "South Carolina" police. Same logic applies here

Lol pyrion considering a dystopian social credit system for driving
@PowersOfDarkness Жыл бұрын
Funny enough, what Pyrion talks about near the end, is actually what the Social Credit Scores in China are, rather than whatever it is imagined as on reddit, its not all that it is of course, nor is it consistent, most of the SCS system is decentralized into experimental programs run by city authorities on a trial basis, the most consistent part of the SCS system is related to debt payments and is fairly close to the Credit Rating system in America but applies mostly to businesses and businessmen rather than a normal person trying to buy a home.

Pyrion is actually incorrect about the headlight thing. If you flash someone to say they can go, then they have an accident then you are not liable. Firstly because theres no proof that you even flashed them, and secondly, because the onus is on the other driver to know that being flashed is not the correct procedure, so they shouldnt follow your instructions. I used to work for a big insurance company and we had to deal with this a few times. Same applied for someone is indicating to turn then doesnt turn and you hit them. Its your fault, not the them.

For the bear virus, I don't think people are going over and picking bears up. I think it's more of black bears coming over to people and staying around them, because the bear has no fear of them while the person is scared shitless because there's a bear right in front of them. I think the triforce guys have a terrible habit of thinking everyone except them are mongoloids.

Hate to be the “uhh actually” guy but this info could possibly prove useful to someone. You definitely should never run from dogs. They have an instinctive drive to chase anything that runs away from them, if you have a pet dog you’ll likely naturally pick it up when playing with them. If you’re out and about and come into contact with an aggressive dog. Face them and slowly back away until you’re a safe distance. The same with bears and big cats but if you’re in contact with bears or big cats you likely already have better countermeasures.
