As a filipino, I agree with Pyrion. Being a cruise worker is regarded to be a relatively decent job by Filipinos and often a ticket out of poverty and hardship back home. Sure, one has to be on the sea for months, but the profit you get (which puts food on the table and can support your family and children’s education) outweighs the disadvantages. Also being away from home is not really a new thing for filipinos; a huge percentage of filipinos are overseas workers like my mom (in fact, she was away working abroad during a big chunk of my childhood). Overall, working in a cruise ship is much better than being a maid for chinese or middle eastern/muslim families where an alarming level of domestic abuse, racial prejudice and modern-day slavery towards filipino workers occur.

Ramiell there are a lot of human trafficking cases which counts as slavery. In regards to filipino workers, yes. Kuwait is a good example where foreign domestic workers are not allowed to leave the country without their boss’s permission. The owner can even legally confiscate their passport and other belongings so they can never leave: when faced with an abusive owner, this is bad for the domestic worker. The abuse in Kuwait got so bad that even the philippine president decided to impose a ban for filipino workers to work in Kuwait in response to a filipina domestic worker who died there. Philip defranco covered the slavery issue between Kuwait and Filipinos quite clearly, especially towards a kuwaiti beauty blogger (Alqattan I believe her name is ) who unapologetically defended the slavery habits of Kuwaitis and had a derisive tone towards the filipino workers she depends on. The fact that this Kuwaiti beauty blogger had countless of supporters that defended and advocated her ideologies, shows that this is not an isolated perception towards filipino workers. I try my best not to generalize rich middle easteners (often times I can’t help it because this does not only happen in Kuwait), but I have witness countless situations where they exude a delusional sense of self-entitlement. I guess when one is rich and powerful there is a large possibility of arrogance and human rights violations towards the people that work for you.

I think zombies wouldn't last long in the ocean, they'd decompose and get eaten by fish in a very short time. However, people on the ship may catch the fish to eat them and contaminate themselves based on whichever rules of contamination is being observed.

The real reason there are a lot of Asians in Vancouver is because its a great place to live for Asians. It started in the 1980s, when news broke that china was going to snap up Hong Kong. Many people in Hong Kong did not want to live under the Chinese regime, so many people moved or bought property in Canada (which was a very popular, and welcoming immigration destination at the time.) Many moved to vancouver, and started a snowball. There was a good estabilished Asian culture in Vancouver, so naturally other Asians would be drawn there over other cities. Not to mention the housing market is lucrative, and Asian investors love to buy property to stash their money somewhere, or to grow it. Vancouver, like a lot of cities in Canada, is a place that has a massively diverse culture. Its less of a "melting pot" multiculturalism in the US, where all the cultures kinda get melted down together in a slightly homogeneous whole, but more of a "mosaic". All the different cultures come together in their own little distinct piece almost, and make a beautiful picture. It just happens that in Vancouver, that Asian piece is the biggest. You can see people from all over the world, enjoy all their fantastic and unique cultures in one place. (most of them are from the other side of the Pacific rim, so a lot of Chinese, Japanese, Filipino, Australians, maybe some Russians, but it has a sizeable population from Europe as well). Its honestly really amazing. There's a little lecture on Canadian culture for ya :)

From what I've read, a lot of people came to Vancouver in the 1980s and 90s over the pacific from Hong Kong, because that was when China was originally planning retake the island, because it used to be a British colony, and the 99 year agreement was ending. A lot of people didn't want to go back to the Chinese Communist Party government, because they weren't exactly held in high regards, especially in the late 80s, with shit like the Tiananmen square massacres, so they just ended moving to Canada. The other factor is the fact that Vancouver and the west coast was mostly built with Asian labor, brought by the CPR, so most just ended up settling there.

I believe the zombie movie pyrion is recalling is Zombi/Zombie 2, Lucio Fulci's unofficial Italian sequel to Dawn of the Dead. The shark scene is probably the most impressive element of the film due to fact that they literally have an actor in zombie make-up, underwater with a real shark. The rest of the film is typical genre tropes and cliches, albeit with a fun island setting and campy soundtrack.

My main problem with the princess thing isn't about gender because princesses are the female counterpart to princes although there's no law (i would hope) that anyone can't dress up as either one. In regards to the boy in a elsa dress thing. It is actually against the Disney policy to say no or I don't know. It is safe to assume that the person responsible for denying the boy to be able to take the picture was either fired or suspended from work or heavily disciplined. This was most likely because of the one person. Disney is majorly against theses types of occurrences of breaking the magic for children.

The whole zombie discussion reminds me in the WWZ book. One of the characters lives in a community in a Chinese submarine and the sea is filled with zombie boats on the surface and zombies on the seabed, the best part was when the submarine went to the seabed to evade an enemy submarine and a horde of underwater zombies started scratching on the bottom of the submarine. Everyone should read World War Z it's an amazing book.
