I want to give a shout out to Russel's mother Maureen. We worked together in the early 80"s in Kmart. I was a newly arrived Senior Manager. My mother paid a visit and started chatting with Maureen. As most mother's, she was worried about how her 20 year old son was going to fend for himself for food. Maureen was a Manager in our restaurant and promised my mother she would take care of me. She did. On rare occasions at night, even as she was closing down, she would ask me it she could cook something for me to eat. I still remember her stubby little fingers going to work making me a meal. What a very sweet lady. I also remember Russell, Clayton and their Father coming into the store. I believe the boys were into Rap at the time. Thank you for your affection and kindness Maureen. I still appreciate what you did for me today. ❤

In 2010 I did the IT and AV for a Chinese teachers conference in Sydney, Australia. One speaker showed a full Russell Peters skit where he was doing the Chinese accent and making fun of Chinese. The audience was in absolute stitches. There was no offence taken, they loved every second of it. How times have changed.

The first time I saw Russel Peters, it was at Yuk Yuk's comedy club in Vaughn. This had to be around 2000-2001. I ended up in the front row with my other 2 friends. He roasted us all night. I still remember some of the jokes he laid on all of us. Especially me. They were all right on the spot and very specific to me and my friends. You can't pull that off unless you are really good at the craft of comedy.

My Millennial pal ended our friendship of years, because he suddenly got more sensitive about Comedy. He was always a drinking, pot smoking, Punk rocker, hard worker ( yes, he actually was ), YET out of nowhere he said to me one day about Comedy, "Well, I think the point is to not punch down." I immediately disagreed, saying you can joke about anything and anybody in Comedy. That's the point. After that conversation he never spoke to me again. Iced me out. All over a disagreement about Comedy. FFS. I feel sorry for younger generations taking their sensitivities way too far. It's good to care for the world, and one way you do it is to be INCLUSIVE in teasing them! They've been taught that all forms of teasing is mean, "hate speech", bigoted. They are missing out. Glad that Russell doesn't sell his soul to conform to the younger generations.

We are a 6 figure income couple and had very little saved and not much cash lying around the preverbal". '...don't have $500 for an emergency" that was us. The big thing was debt all kinds of it, cars mortgage (although our home isn't a high price one), student loans for our kids, and of course credit cards. One day we just got sick of being broke and went total scorched earth and became frugal overnight. Paid it all off, it took almost 5 years but now we have no debt and this year our savings rate is 50% on basically the same income that had us perpetually broke. So for us it is mainly staying out of debt and watching our spending, at first it was a real effort to save in our HISA and 401Ks but now it's actually fun watching our money grow. No car or vacation or neighborhood is worth being broke or financially unstable.
