God doubles are good. The last time I went to Trinidad to visit family we went to this little cart in Santa Flora. Very small with only two people in the cart. One cooked and the other took the orders. But they were the best doubles I ever ate. Much better than most of the big stores that sell them. If you go to Trinidad, skip the brand name stores and buy from small vendor carts. As authentic as it gets.

I just came back from a week in Trinidad and ate 2 doubles with chutney and slight pepper for breakfast almost every day. I guess the nutritionist wouldn't recommend it, but when you live abroad and can't get doubles easily you can't help yourself!

I lefin a comment heyso, n mi nuh kay who vex, how the hell some of all you riding the white man cuz he say flat bread and chick peas. Just cuz he say thee English term don't mean he need get ridiculed. First time I went into foreign grocery store n said chana they look me like I get 3 heads. Chana is chick peas duh, and bara can be made come close like a flat bread. Lol have a seat n stop pickin on the guy!

I don't know which part of Florida you´re in. But if in Ft. Lauderdale area, go to Joy's Roti Shop at the Lauderhill Mall in Lauderhill for doubles, Aloo pie, Pholourie, and other Trini food.

my family went to vist relatives in trinidad so they bought lots of doubles from this vendor cart since they were hungry and did not have doubles for a long time. when they opened it to eat it had maggots in them. it got them really mad so they went back to the vendor and he left very fast right after he sold the doubles. we were so disappointed.

A big bara (5" fry flat bread) is placed so it over laps on the other big bara(vendor saved $), make you the buyer feel you get plenty channa (chick pea-garbonzo). Then the vendor puts the watery channa over one bara. It spreads out over the bara like if each chick pea vex with the other peas. This way you get less channa (vendor saved $) Too much bara is unhealthy( diabetes), the curry channa is very healthy to eat. The cleanest way to eat doubles:- Holding the doubles in one hand, open one end of the twisted paper wrapper to expose the bara. Raise this end up vertically,move away the wrapper from the bara and take a bite into the doubles.Then pull down more of the wrapper away from the bara, exposing more bara (as if peeling a banana). Eating and Peeling away as you eat to expose more of the doubles.This way the hands touches only the wrapper,never touches the bara, remains clean, but the corner of mouth around the lips has a little channa and curry sauce..wipe it off .....Man doubles tastes great.

I am a Calypso fan from the country of Wales UK and have visited Trini twice.1998 and 2010.Doubles were 2TT, then second visit 3TT a 50% increase I suppose but still cheap..However roti and bake and shark had jumped from 8TT to 35TT..It was carnival season though, so maybe the prices dropped afterwards..A cup ofPigfoot souse was a dollar and 50c in 2010 though.

that dietitian needs to do some more studying lol the people on the street no more about doubles nutrition, in moderation! doubles have plenty oil. channa is good for you, turmeric is good for you, cucumber is good for you, mango is good for you, tamarind is good for you, but when you start adding salt, sugar, oil and flour, it doesn't balance out. Doubles is not COMPLETELY unhealthy but definitely should be eaten in moderation.
