Designing the character’s personality around the experimental design of their form would be the move I think. Having multiple pitches or tones in their voice is a great idea. Maybe they scream out in some kind of omnic pain during their ultimate. Almost as if they’re sacrificing their body for the cause.

Hey! These are some suggestions I have for the hero. Not anything serious, just a result of a little brainstorming: *Passive:* Can no longer manually reload the weapon. *E:* Shots a projectile forward that deals 50 damage alongside switching to the next weapon. Cooldowns reduced to 3 seconds from 6. Has 2 ammo. *Shift:* No longer required to hit an enemy in order to teleport. Can teleport and attach yourself to a surface (Like Genji , Lúcio or the Talon Assassin) for 5 seconds. *Ultimate:* Now has two phases. Phase 1: Charge up and release a burst of up to 250 damage. Phase 2: After detonating, your current weapon will have a bottomless clip for 10 seconds. *Theme song (lol):* SIGNALIS OST - Cigarette Wife Again don't take this too seriously, just some ideas I had. Love the design!

This sort of thing is so fun to do, I have an entire spreadsheet that I open up from time to time to add ideas to. Currently it is up to 20 full characters and 5 works in progress. I always get an electric sort of energy when I work on it.

It’s always fun to see what ideas people cook up for new heroes and characters. Having a character that is meant to cycle between weapons for whatever situation they’re in is really cool, and looks super unique.

Just a thought - having a slightly higher more elongated/gaspy pitch on one of the voices to add a little bit more range to the trio. Also when a specific version of Trinity is present at that moment in time then that voice in the trio becomes slightly more prominent but you can still hear the other voices behind it? Think of someone who has dissociative identity disorder who in particular situations presents a completely different version of themself. Their voice changes, they may even have another gender, they’re essentially multiple people sharing the same body. Just a thought

Super fun concept, would love to see more of this in the future, personally i much prefer the alternative ultimate's over the "overload" version. Its a super difficult hero to make work but would feel super rewarding, my favourite ability has to be the skillshot dash but there are so many potential issues with it but if it could work it would be such a great addition

I would keep Weapon Cycle at 6 second CD, but give it a second charge. Also this isn't really something that would come up at the early design phase, but I would give the dash a Doom- and Mercyesque jump cancel so you can cancel the ability, keep your momentum, but slightly change your direction so you're not completely chained to the target you travel to but you still keep the identity of the ability.

Here are my opinions as an artist who loves character design and someone who has coded heroes into the workshop and had to do alot of iterating on my own _ The idea for the hero (a war machine using all the best elements of overwatch members to create a perfect soldier) is unique and awesome - the visual language in gameplay and design of a trinity is great and should be extended further ( 3 guns 3 markings on head 3 voices and 3 main hues in the colour pallete) it makes the hero very visually interesting and cohesive - love the voice concept iff each voice had a different tone and pitch it would imo be perfect allowing to showcase how amalgamated the character is and how because of this they may be slightly unstable in their personality - I dont know what the devs told u abt complexity but I would worry about having 3 swappable guns as from experience heroes with more than 2 form swaps can be really clunky feeling no matter how well implemented it is gunplay wise - i also feel it would hinder the experience of people on controllers or disabled people like myself who play ow and the swapping between three weapons could cause frustration ( aka I worry the hero might be clunkier than LW - I would move the long range weapon to the ULT (similar visually but maybe not gameplay wise to chamber from Valorant) and modify how it works to suit (piercing or explosive bullets whatever u can think off) and move the current ult to the secondary fire key for the melee weapon since the mid range uses secondary fire to ADS and melee from what I saw has nothing (u could charge it like lifeweaver does his heals for a spinning attack with higher aoe damage?) as I love the ult idea as it is too - i love the movement ability as it is literally the one corvus has in paladins and I WOULD LOVE to see it implemented into overwatch (I'd personally make it a teleport as its already a projectile thats counterable by alot but make it work like blink where the teleport leaves a tracer or trail on the ground - I'd add a wallclimb or passive sprint similar to sombras passive stealth BUT only if the hero needs it after playtesting personally i love this idea and would love to code this hero in the workshop to test out as I think coding the hero would be easy enough (in workshop not actually into the game duh) hope my imput helps

I'm curious how you'd approach making each weapon in the Workshop. The current ultimate as proposed seems easy enough, as does the proposed Ability 1, but thinking through the primary/secondary fires, I see no better options than a) summoning an invisible bot at the player's location to shoot for them, b) switching the player to some base hero that has a weapon that vaguely resembles the proposed weapons, or c) remaking the weapons from scratch. All of these approaches have downsides, including input latency, ease-of-number-adjustment, lack of an ability to alter player FOV, and so on.

@@CactusPuppy personally since I’m not as experienced as you I’d probably mess with the create projectile feature, the hitboxes are pretty busted but recreating the non melee weapons that way could work (i made a character that swaps between two weapons before) , the only issue then is im too dumb to make the melee weapon, i could use rein as a base and remove their armour and have to manually remove the tank passive from rein to add the dps passive instead (thankfully the new dps passive i’ve coded before ). If I had your skillset I’d go with the bot route as it’d probably give the best recreation of the gunplay Custa had in mind. My build would be a lil jank I don’t think I can offer you much valuable info / opinions on this but knowing you I’m sure you’ll figure smth out ALSO I definetly undersold the complexity of coding the guns thats what I get for writing feedback at like 1am lmao

For the cycle one gun forward, the CD could refresh once you've landed enough bullets. So if you cycle through long range to get to mid, using the guns in fights rewards you with that next cycle.

The energy weapons being like preexisting overwatch heroes reminds me of how Echo can duplicate. I think it would be sweet if null sector got a hold of Echo's tech and utilized it in this omnic.

i watched some of the ideas live, but getting the whole image of how the hero is supposed to work was very fun, great idea all around! Just a small tip though, when showing the art made by the community it would be really great to include a more visible credit, even if it's just a legible name typed in a cell below the drawing. It's a small thing but it is very encouraging for the artist to get that recognition, to have their name up there, it makes a difference :)

I agree it would be better to incentivize switching rather than disincentivizing sticking to one but I think having the choice to stick to one is important because you don't want people to fight the hero design. So have overheating instead of ammo so you can keep using the gun you want, but switching boosts firerate to help encourage that switch, also overheat should probably transfer over from each gun but it drops by 50% when you do switch. For example, I can keep poking with the long range, and when my guns start to overheat i switch and dive with the pistols with high firerate and then finish off with the even faster melee. Maybe have reload go forward a gun and "e" go backwards so you can switch to the gun you want with a slight cooldown whenever you do so (3-4 sec?). Also I'm curious if the pistols into a burst rifle would step on the longer range guns capabilities a bit, and lastly I think going back to the ult being centered around the guns would make more sense since that's what the rest of their kit focuses on, maybe the ult is no overheat, slight damage increase, and faster movement? Regardless, would absolutely love to see a character with this complexity, something I think is missing in overwatch.

I actually really like this. It feels like a sort of anti-Echo. One thing I will say though, I would change the ult, not because it sounds unbalanced but I feel Ramattra already has the opposite of Zen's ultimate concept as his own. All in all it kind of just sounds like a Mini-Ram ult, which isn't particularly bad but kind of bland is all. Me personally I would suggest making her ult kind of like Tyra's Crossfire, but more creative. They could temporarily combine all three of her weapons and just turn it into a constantly shooting high-damage combo weapon that shoots a mixing variety of projectiles and hitscan and has infinite ammo for its duration. They do this for exactly 8 seconds. Idk it's just something I thought up, lol; but overall, lovely concept!!

Hmm i feel like the ulti is just kinda like ram ult, since that kinda is the anti tranq ult both in gameplay and narrative. I like the idea of the switchting weapons tho. Would be cool if the ult enhanced the current weapon, giving them a new twist to make the hero extra complex lmao. I like the quality of life the E provides but not sure if it removes the weakness a hero needs and if the close range weapon would just get skipped every time, then u use the other two and by the time u reach the melee one u just press E again you know? A hero should not do everything and its kinda tough when designing a aphelios type character. :)

I get the idea behind trying to make a dive hero that can poke but I don't see the efficacy of it's ability to dive. The only movement ability Trinity has is basically a worse genji dash that would only work as a hard commit and if whiffed leaves the hero a sitting duck for 10s. I'd be more worried about getting dove. Dive heroes need on demand mobility to position for a dive this ability is just too punishing. Just how exactly is this hero supposed to take high ground and what kind of terrain are they going to excel in? No idea. The tri weapon idea demonstrates how the weapon and abilities of each hero need to synergize. If tracer couldn't blink in and out of effective range then her weapon damage would greatly suffer, dragonblade already gets stuffed by escapes with it's ability to reset dash. The viper weapon would seem to be the most viable just because long range hitscan generally doesn't require much ability assistance. An unmentioned design issue is going to be the limited ammo causing eliminations to miss. If you get a Sojourn or Cass low using the pistols and run out of ammo before they move out of melee range and you'd already used the dash ability you're out of luck. Same for a long range pick and suddenly having to pepper from range. I also think that expecting people to maximize different styles of aiming on a moment's notice is also going to be a stretch especially if they can play more streamlined heroes that excel at the playstyles Trinity is just mediocre at. Tring to think of how I'd make this idea work I just kept reinventing heroes like Junker Queen or Genji and I keep wanting to take abilities from villainous characters. Maybe a single weapon that alt fires a shotgun blast of echo sticky bombs that are then detonated by a 76-esque sustained hitscan and a lunging blade swing that can uppercut (similar motion to soj). Seems like an overwatch hating omnic should have some sort of enmity with echo considering their shared copy theming

I think if you increase each weapons ammo and increase the E (cycle ability) cooldown timer then you would make it easier to be on the weapons you want without being able to get back to that weapon without using at least one of the other 2 weapons. This way you must play with 2 weapons no matter your playstyle

this is really, really neat, but I have to say I chuckled when you said you designed a new hero, but yours takes a lot of existing ideas lol. still unique and definitely worthy of being called a "new hero design," and I think it'd be really interesting and unique! major downside is I could see a play style where, until you are at a close range, you just end up using the first two weapons at a wall until you get the long range gun, but I guess the dash is supposed to make getting close up much easier

During this process I actually realised it's very difficult to make an original design for a hero ability based character as almost anything you can think of has been done before. I think it's fine to take inspiration from other concepts and abilities as long as together it's unique

@@Custa not only is it hard to make an original design in general, but as someone that made many custom hero designs in overwatch workshop: usually when a hero has very original and unique abilities, more often than not they just feel kinda clunky to play because it's a lot harder to synergize with existing abilities
