Great unbiased video. They are both over priced by 33%. If you order from Starbucks, you are paying for the sitting space. Luckin is cheaper because they are saving on rent and passing it on. I would order from Luckin if in not going to spend time in the cafe. More competition is better for us. Hope it will drop the price to $2.

I know Luckin's coffee might seem tall, but it's thin compared to the short-fat Starbucks one. So I think you should understand which cup Is truly bigger by measuring volume (ml) and not by eye sight. Excellent video regardless

I have never tasted Luckin, but I know Starbucks here (Malaysia) is always lack of coffee taste and I'll have to settle for double shot. Starbucks is the last choice here (for me) compared to other gourmet coffee houses. I held some Luckin shares and sold off for profit. Plan to reenter when time is right. Thanks for the video!

I personally drink drip coffee. I think Starbucks’ coffee beans’s roasting level get too high n. lack of flavor comparing to most competitors, their drip coffee is not a good daily drink choice for me.

well their CEO just stepped down and their stock rate per share increased by +10.46% as of today, i have hopes they'll bring in a new CEO who can rebrand this company and get them back on top but nothing is guaranteed ofc

Same here. I think Luckin is currently undervalued (imho). Luckin currently has about 6,000 locations throughout China, and has plenty of room to expand. At the time of their IPO in May 2019, they had about 2,000 locations. Once they get leadership sorted out, I believe they can definitely regain their IPO price of $20. Again, my opinion.

I think it would be harder to order and use, but they might not be worried about non-Chinese speakers at this point. I think there is only like 1 million foreigners in China, which is not that many considering how many Chinese people there are here. And I might have been able to pay with cash.... but never really use that option anymore.

Starbucks is consistent throughout the world with a few local things per region, but I'm not sure about Macchiatos at Luckin.... I would have to go back and look because it is not a drink I get often.

Luckin Coffee: from feedback from you (foreigners) and from native Chinese, they have reported the coffee itself is trash. The PRODUCT is what is behind the value. Of course, STARBUCKS set the standard for high end coffee in the world. Luckin tries to undercut with price savings, but the taste suffers. Who knows who sources and roasts, their coffee?

We were mixed on the coffee, I think all the brands that sell coffee like this are just selling sugary drinks. Most only have a little coffee in them and the taste is more chocolate or another flavor (cream/milk). I don't know where they source their coffee, I also don't know where Starbucks sources their coffee, not sure if that is really a buying point for most people. I think price is more important for many people.

I don't know why Luckin is popping up left, right and centre on my KZbin. But I can tell you they've went downhill since (and even before the internal issue). They were genuinely good when they first came out, but after around your video, a lot of their store uses simple all buttons auto machine, which basically made all their milk coffee taste and feel the same.

@@stephencsoma564 No, Luckin is superior. I am a Californian that travels to China for work frequently. I have the Starbucks Gold card, so that give you a sense how much SBUX I drink. Luckin is modeled after the European coffee approach of deep complex flavor, instead of the burnt ashy taste of Starbucks. Much to my surprise, Luckin products do taste better than Starbucks, not quite Illy's but pretty darn close. Dunkin doesn't even make coffee, their products are basically coffee pot rinsing water.

Here in the USA we have these massive 24-Hour gas-stations/restaurants/delis. Big names include "WaWa" and "Sheetz" and "Bucees" just to name a few. I used to work at one of these places. Our #1 most profitable item was Coffee, and our boss would throw a tantrum if our coffee wasn't made fresh. Every coffee machine flavor had to be made fresh every 3 hours.
