The "give all my things to all my friends" line always hits me so hard. I had a friend pass when I was 14 (Not a suicide, but still extremely hard.) His mom let a few of us into his room to pick a "memory" and I came a across a toy that had originally belonged to me; an old Transformer that I had made a trade with him for something else. It meant so much to me that she did that when she didn't have to, but she understood the loss that we had suffered as well.

Simply unbelievable, it's covers like this that like a version is made for. They've made an already outstanding song their own and absolutely killed it, brings back memories I'd forgotten I even had from listening to the original for the first time

At age 17 I was in a small band. After a few months of playing we learned our singer tragically died in a construction accident. A door to a stairwell was hung without the stairs behind them. He fell and broke his neck we never got to talk again. This song hits hard. We played many blink songs. I miss those years growing up in my room and even though times where hard life got better. Wesley will always be my friend and I truly believe we will get to talk again.

I kind of wish the song ended there. such a moment.
@lordofswarm5386 күн бұрын
@@sujol6276@sujol6276 If it did, this wouldn't be a cover, it would be a different song for one VERY important reason: the last chorus is supposed to bring hope back. The choruses before now all had "used" or "held", past tense words. "I never CONQUERED rarely CAME sixteen just HELD such better days days when I still FELT alive we COULDN'T wait to get outside The world WAS wide, TOO LATE to try The tour WAS over, WE'D SURVIVED I COULDN'T wait 'til I GOT home To pass the time in my room alone" All those words state that all the good times are over, and so is the subject's life. Now compare that to: "I never conquered, rarely came TOMORROW HOLDS such better days Days when I CAN still FEEL alive When I CAN'T wait to get outside The world IS wide, the TIME GOES BY The tour IS over, I'VE survived I CAN'T wait 'til I GET home To pass the time in my room alone" The chorus makes you think it'll be describing the same misery as before, forever; just like the depression the song is kind of about, but then it goes to present and future tense, stating there are things to still look forward to, things to live for. The ending is needed to tell it's ultimate message, and that is this: "There is hope. You can push through whatever it is that you are going through and enjoy a life worth living, but you cannot enjoy a life that is ended before it had the chance to get better. You can have that chance if you don't give up...................................... PLEASE LIVE."

I had a very close friend of mine that I grew up with, and we were best buds. One of our favorite bands to sing and listen to together was Blink 182. We met in kindergarten, and from then on, we found so many memories together. At times, we were on the playground being children, and at others, we were in college becoming men. But during high school, he had a close scare with suicide. I remember singing this song with him at the same period of time when he felt that way, and hearing in this version made me realize the depth and strength of the words. My friend was hurting so bad, and this song connected far deeper than I knew. Thank you for this version.

I never thought I'd die alone I laughed the loudest, who'd have known? I trace the cord back to the wall No wonder it was never plugged in at all I took my time, I hurried up The choice was mine, I didn't think enough I'm too depressed to go on You'll be sorry when I'm gone I never conquered, rarely came Sixteen just held such better days Days when I still felt alive We couldn't wait to get outside The world was wide, too late to try The tour was over, we'd survived I couldn't wait 'til I got home To pass the time in my room alone I never thought I'd die alone Another six months I'll be unknown Give all my things to all my friends You'll never step foot in my room again You'll close it off, board it up Remember the time that I spilled the cup Of apple juice in the hall Please tell mom this is not her fault I never conquered, rarely came Sixteen just held such better days Days when I still felt alive We couldn't wait to get outside The world was wide, too late to try The tour was over, we'd survived I couldn't wait till I got home To pass the time in my room alone I never conquered, rarely came Tomorrow holds such better days Days when I can still feel alive When I can't wait to get outside The world is wide, the time goes by The tour is over, I've survived I can't wait 'til I get home To pass the time in my room alone
