Hi guy! I'm not a fly fisherman yet, but I have been studying many of you guys on KZbin to learn all that I can until I can pull the trigger and get started. I have noticed that you do things just a bit smarter than most. You dry your fly (false cast) away from the hole that you are fishing then cast and you let the fish tighten the line then reel it in in place of pulling it in just for a couple of examples. Such easy fixes for things that are taught wrong. Thank you for thinking outside of the box and being different.

I've recently returned to fishing after a 20 year break and I'm still using ye olde clinch knot (Fish BFS now rather than Fly) and as those fish clearly tested the tackle I'm curious as to what you use? You're right, the sand flies on that particular water are absolutely fierce; almost like nowhere else - they just don't give up! But it's one of my favourite rivers on the SI regardless. Love that rod. Got it in a 6 too. Great stuff.

Gladly, I'm old enough to remember when that wasn't the case. They were good days, but today's not so bad. There's still plenty of water and good fisherman still catch fish, albeit with more of a crowd.
