The reason it does not sound very Disney is because they did not want the movie associated with their Disnry brand. They said it was too dark and strange. They opted for their sister company Touchstone to make it. After they saw it was a huge success they decided to put the Disney brand on it.

Ah, good ol Jack Skellington, the true definition of pure of heart and dumb of ass. I’ll say at least he isn’t quite as malicious as he was in the initial poem (guy legit kidnapped Santa out of sheer jealousy and malice and didn’t even have the Oogie Boogie moment to give him even a tiny redemption. Santa legit gave him snow cuz he was pathetic lol). Eh well, I still love him even though he’s a narcissistic dimwit. Credit Danny for that! Great review, I learned a ton

okay, maybe he mentions this later, but hasn’t yet in jack’s lament. elfman’s sprechstimme is so damn good. the transition between singing and speak-singing is seamless. like, when i was little I tried to sing along, before I received training with sprechstimme in my teens, and you quickly realize he’s not fully like… singing, half the time. I got a book of piano sheet music for this movie, and SO MUCH of his singing is indicated with that lil x note, and not an actual intended pitch. oogie boogie’s song and sally’s song used to be my favorite because I could sing along easier lmao

Auto-Tune wasn’t a thing yet when this was out it doesn’t first appear in music till Cher uses it in 1998. Even then it wasn’t a thing like it is now producers didn’t start to utilize it much till 2000-2001 is when it begins to turn up more. It also wasn’t what it was today like they wouldn’t be using it for an entire vocal it would be used to correct small batches of small pitch issues to perfect it.

I agree the last song should have been longer! I always thought Sally was the voice of reason for Jack, and ultimately he realizes she’s right and he tries to undo his mistake by releasing Santa Claus. I don’t think of Jack as crazy but more of a dreamer who wanted something different. He felt like he was missing something and tried to fill the void with being Santa Claus but realizes he’s missing his other half, which is Sally.

Great video! And now I understand why I have always loved the voices in this film. I love deep male voices and distortion 😁 The singer that sings Jack's songs is amazing, the dinamics! It's my favourite singer from all Disney movies for sure.

there is a video on youtube of the entire live concert they did this year, it would be so cool for you to react to that because you can actually see all the singers live and how amazing they are!

You know when you have a movie favorite if you sing along to the songs with the characters or you talk the character line and laugh because of the nostalgia 😊👀. I'm sure many thought that snow looked tasty 😁

This IS my favourite holiday movie, but I was born in 1966 and I'm clinically depressed but neither emo nor rawr so... Love the music, even sung Jack's Lament at a small recital! :)

This is so random but I LOVE IT I clicked so fast…also reacting to vocals from movies is such a good idea. You should do Sweeney Todd…cause all the actors aren’t singers idk bye…❤️

Since I saw Elfman performing live too, I can confidently say he sounds just as amazing on stage, as in the movie. His voice and skills are crazy ❤️ And Page is so good he got the audience cheering before he even opened his mouth. Super talented crew 😍
