I don't think Gordon Ryan is mentally weak, but look at all his health issues. Its so hard on your blood metrics, your cholesterol and triglycerides, thick blood causes kidney stress, water retention stresses most of the organs. My 2c is mental fortitude is a deep subject that is effected by both genetics and how you engage with the world (self discipline) etc... Liver King is a glaring walking insecurity and should not represent bodybuilders as a whole. A 12 week bodybuilding prep definitely requires insane discipline and mental fortitude, the dieting is absurd.

Hi Coach 🫡 when i did hyper extension a coach told me just do half reps to keep the spine straight. I told him it is light weight and it is good for the spine to bend and to go all the way up and down. But now im confused what is right? Even the neck curls should i go all the way down and up?

Idk if hypertrophy is as easy as you think. Jon jones took years off to bulk up and put on more fat than muscle.
@olezhek008
@olezhek008 14 күн бұрын
I think Jones didn't put so much muscle on purpose, because muscles require oxygen and would make him gas during fights. Jones is optimising octagon performance, not muscle mass.

@Keno313 4 күн бұрын
@@olezhek008 nonsense, fat is even more trouble than muscle. Muscle at least makes you explosive and strong whereas fat just weighs you down. He knew his gas tank would go down a bit at heavyweight that's inevitable.

I know you've had reservations about CrossFit in the past, but I honestly think it's a great method of building up strength and stamina at the same time. I was thinking spar light when you train CrossFit hard, then ease off on the CrossFit when fight camp comes. I really like your method of training and conditioning fighters, and it's great maintenance for the CrossFit gains too. That's just a theory on my part, and I can't say I've tested it yet. Love to get your thoughts on that.

@rustyray420 It's a sport unto itself. Just look at the performance levels of the top athletes. It speaks for itself. Rich Froning was a fucking beast in his prime. Take one look st that work in the CrossFit Open and tell me he couldn't fight if he wanted to. Insane stamina, impressive lifts performed at high speed and volume... The fitness level is through the roof.

@justinwallace269 he couldn't because he doesn't train martial arts. His movement patterns and nervous system are not primed for combat. In fact i would argue that combat athletes who have/had bad conditioning could smoke him bad.

The '9 ancestral tenants' are good guidelines for getting jacked and living a healthy life. The problem is that Liver King's physique isn't a product of following those tenants, it's a product of steroids, therefore he doesn't value his own guidelines, so he's a hypocrite and a charlatan.

I have never done steroids, so I cannot say. On a side note. Testosterone levels at an upper Normal healthy level.....are good for your mental health ABSOLUTELY 100%. Not hyper elevated levels, healthy upper Normal.

As an endurance athlete for 30 years, I can tell you once you have endurance developed, it takes a long time for that to diminish, its also mostly mental. So once you have strong endurance confidence, stick to strength and speed training and you will see a continuous linear progression, whereas if you keep working endurance you will eventually see a linear degression.

say what you want about liver king but he was very inteligent to market his "primal" brand and make a very good living for himself. we may not agree with the principles and ethics of it but at the same time we live in a world and it is what it is. people want shortcuts and people are attracted to marketable terms like "primal, natural"etc. the ignorance of the masses enabled him. just like the way the ignorant masses enable a lot of things in the world. while mma, kickboxers get brain damage and struggle to make a living.. he made a massive fortune of over 100 million using marketing... you dont make that kind of money being stupid. unethical maybe. That said also steroids dont make somebody weak. A weak person using it as a short cut is weak. you can get somebody who is a hard worker who uses it on top of that. so saying steroids makes someone mentally weak is intellectually dishonest. Most great athletes and ufc fighters are on it. but it wasnt the steroids that made them great... they were great inside without it.

@@user-yl8gd4pp1n your making a false equivalence there. you proved my point, you just demonstrated most people cant logically think straight. I will have to dum-b this down to explain it to you. Most people who bought his stuff were not 'grandma'. that's not his target market. They were mentally sound and of a healthy age like yourself. its called marketing and it works on the masses. Its not just liver king, it even starts with common things like coca cola which is a toxic drink full of sugar. if you look at a coca cola advert it has cute polar bears on the north pole.. its not a cute drink, its unhealthy but thats the representation that is sold to the masses. but in reality millions of people are obese and diabetic because of it.
