This is a pedagogy for life! Two simple, necessary conditions of mastery: Daily work, daily goals. Love it, Coach. Good point on wrestling too, its Sunnah for a reason! I've been grappling with my son daily since he was 3 YO. And now he is 10 and routinely asks me to wrestle whenever he's facing some cognitive or emotional difficulties. He has an innate thirst for it, like he has for food or video games. Also I think he appreciates having the opportunity to throw his dad around😆

Consistency is key. Those who excel in their craft do so through relentless practice, day in and day out. Mastery is not achieved overnight but through consistent effort over time. Set clear goals for yourself, whether it's in fitness or martial arts, and strive to achieve them with dedication and purpose. Martial arts can be a powerful tool for personal development, instilling mental toughness and discipline. Embrace the journey of learning and improvement, for it is through consistent practice that excellence is attained. :)

Then there’s me who’s been doing MMA for a year who started late at age 24 and feeling inadequate compared to the fighters in the gym who’ve been doing martial arts for years lmao I haven’t been feeling that way before, it only started once I told my coach I wanted ti take on my first amateur mma fight and he shifted me towards training with the established fighters in the gym. I’ve got cardio, the physical and mental attributes but it’s the technique and skill…the things that you can’t just explosively build up in a time as short as a year, that I mostly feel lacking in

Become proficient in jiu jitsu only takes years if you are consistent, and it's only one part of the game. You won't become pro level in one or two years. But do you really want to be a pro? Just see your progressed and enjoy the journey instead.

What do you think about Kungfu and the Shaolin culture? Besides all the fake stuff and gurus of course. Im talking about the traditional martial art. Its not as effective in a real fight but I think Kungfu is not about combat, its about a fight with, or rather a conquering of, yourself. Performing the forms or standing in mabu until my body trembles makes me feel at peace. I would really like to hear your thoughts about it, not only how it translates to mma or its standing in the martial art world, but about Kungfu seen as its own way of life.

Why is "Advancd Basics" sometimes spelled without an 'e' and sometimes spelled with an 'e'? Volumes 12 and 13 don't have an 'e', but all the other volumes do. I can't imagine that it's a typo Firas has never noticed.
@cloudmaster182
@cloudmaster182 4 ай бұрын
Sounds like a simple typo. Sometimes these things happen in life. Best not to dwell on the little things so much, especially in this sport. You know what it means, that's good enough

5:03 Greco-Roman isn't actually Greek or Roman, it's French. The Greco-Roman name was for marketability, like Gracie/Brazilian jiu-jitsu even tho it's judo and most of its advances for decades came from judo.

Bro… yeah it was coined in France but the name’s there for a reason, it was an imitation of historical wrestling from the ancient Mediterranean.
@InvisibleHotdog

@@elpibe1924 the name is for marketing, ancient Olympic wrestling had leg techniques and chokes, among other differences. Catch wrestling is closer to actual Greek wrestling
