For a complete green horn this had nice explanations, thank you for posting. I was watching the other youtube vids by DL and KFM, but most are dubbed over with music or highlights for their upcoming events. Understandably there is an element of money-upfront before being 'taught'. So that said it is nice to actually see the visual with the aural explanation. Thanks!

Unfortunately DL and KFM has "weird" marketing tactics. They think that by saying "what they do" that they are somehow giving away the secrets of the system. In our eyes, there are no secrets. The secret is actually training and learning. I can show you 10000s of awesome techniques, but if you don't train it, what's the point. We believe in sharing our knowledge, but we also have courses for people to expand their knowledge as well. You can see some of them here: soulfighterstraining.com

We teach our kids under 16 a blend of TRITAC-Jitsu and BJJ. We teach base layer Frame 1 Defense to different controls. I think it's ill advised to teach kids advanced or brutal striking concepts if they don't understand the "need for them" yet.

Would this work with straight punches as well?
@edgetak6 жыл бұрын
For self-defense- wouldn't you want to create offensive attack from a flinch/trigger position first ? First comes the "instinctive response (defender), then the conditioned response. For martial arts against martial arts-jabs and hook punches thrown very fast would make that frame nearly impossible unless you first perceived the attack by knowing exactly what the attacker is going to do and if that would be the case then the framing assumes a defensive position. Good mma guys hit and stick while moving laterally. I am not bashing you guys here nor am I a know it all- but these videos afford the platform for good collaboration. In all my years of training the one thing I got really good at was being able to look and experience methods objectively. When someone came along that was superior and I lost partner matches- it made me glad for that exposed my hypothesis of either having too many holes or weaknesses. If I was the one who was more successful, then I would further test the hypothesis on other types to see if my methods were true across the board and not just against that one person or style type. Thoughts?

A respectful question. Would you use these 'frame defences' against a knife slash/stab? If they attack with just punches then of course the frame style defence will have that Gunting/limb destruction effect to it but against a knife slash surely it would just result in severe damage to the lower arms. So I would expect you to answer that you would do something else against a knife but I would then make the comment that sometimes you don't know much about an attack until it happens and so you wouldn't have time to see if they had a knife before you defend to know to do something else and if this frame defence approach is ingrained through training into your reflexes wouldn't you then have a problem? Your thoughts? Thanks.

Hi Dave! Thank you for your question. When we start talking about weapons combatives, we are getting into our TRITAC-Armed System; but we do include basic weapons defense in both our TRITAC-Jitsu and TRITAC-Unarmed Systems. But, Framing is not part of what we do against weapons. Our Knife Defense Series is our "Hacking & Blasting" series which takes strong influence from the Filipino Martial Arts and Japanese Jujutsu, but of course with TRITAC flow. I hope that explains it. You'll find a lot of our courses and information at our TRITAC site: tritacmartialarts.com

Am I training wrong???? Can you give a clue???? Thanks for your time.
@tritacacademy7 жыл бұрын
You are NOT wrong at all. THIS IS THE PROBLEM with "Traditional Martial Arts" or Martial Arts that don't include extensive sparring and live drills in their training. You can do all the punches, kicks, throws, etc you want - but if you don't learn how to "put it together" and make it work in SPARRING - there is NO FUCKING WAY you will make it work in real life. If you really really REALLY want to defend yourself and ultimately be able to "fight" - you need to spar, and do live scenario sparring (2 vs 1, seated vs standing, both seated, escaping drills, etc).
@edgetak6 жыл бұрын
I think that the only way to make it work in real life is to do it in real life against someone who really wants to hurt you. Sparring is an agreed upon known environment. Sparring may help with reflex development, developing or acclimating to getting hit, timing and more however I think that you are talking about martial arts against martial arts which is not real combat at all. I have been in an saw real fighting and it looks nothing like this just like it looks nothing like kata. I think what you say "might work" but I would not bet my families life on it by a long shot. When you say there is NO FUCKING WAY- I think you believe it- but you should really question and challenge your strong beliefs. There is all sorts of science surrounding startle/flinch, sensory overload, precognition, pre-contact cues, etc. Martial arts whether traditional or modern are everything that comes "after" self defense. So your statement is lacking adequate information. Good video and drill though. Although I like the drill- the context in totality is lacking to give sufficient understanding to the 90% who have not learned to think or oneself and that is why your defensive statements will create more separation than supporting followers.
@alanwickman85585 жыл бұрын
So I see some good and bad. For close in fighting can be effective. On the o end if you are fighting with arms up you open to lower body strikes. Also distance fighting become problematic. Can be effective.but not as a primary fighting system. One added comment not shown in this video. The JJ elements can be very effective.
@tritacacademy5 жыл бұрын
These flows are drills. They are meant to develop a grouping of skills. Flows aren't meant to be a sequence that you "execute", they are designed to create and instinctual connection between movement, reaction and response. Plugging in your own flavor of combat, such as Jiu-Jitsu is highly recommended when studying TRITAC

When people's lives are one the line people almost all do the same thing. 52 blocks is sold to many blacks as a method that was founded IN prison to defend against shanks.
