Sir Stuart. I have discovered a new financial phenomenon that is sweeping the world of Bonneville owners. I have found that my bank balance is inversely proportional to the amount of time spent watching your reviews . That being said the smile on my dial is proportional to hours spent watching . I’m the luckiest man in the world as my wife loves watching your videos and even paid for the sleeper pro’s due to arrive next week. You are my hero .

Just put the Sleeper Pro silencers on my '18 Bonne T120. It still has the cat (until I get my x-pipe) but the new pipes still gave it a whole new sound. It's a little louder both at idle and on the throttle but it doesn't have that "talking through a mouthful of cotton" sound anymore. That, and the tone is throatier between 3k & 5k RPM. My only complaint is I can no longer get the side stand down with soft-soled shoes on because the peg is mostly under the pipe now. As for adjusting the chain, the improvement over the stock silencers is marginal when the bike is on the center stand, but it's a lot better with some weight on the suspension. In fact, adjusting is no problem now, especially with 12mm & 13mm angle-head wrenches.

Stuart, I have always enjoyed your reviews for the Triumph T120. I have had 39 motur-psykles, and looking at your video's, I may have fallen in love with the Triumph Bonneville! Just something of a classic bike that has some old school things, modern things, and what you brought to the table is - the British method of doing things...not always right, but make the bike what it is. Thanks for taking the time to make the video's, edit them, and publish them, we appreciate that very much!

Four years later, and these instructions still work. Just installed mine today. Thankfully BC now includes the graphite exhaust seal when the send the set. Didn’t even have to remove the passenger peg on the left side. And yeah…they sound much better, breathe better, and without the CAT, the whole beautiful T120 is an exciting experience.

2017 T120, I watched many exhaust vids. For my bike before choosing the British customs sleeper pro. They were great to work with. I had my mechanic install a power Commander and decat system. The bike sounds better with this exhaust and is just a little bit louder. The performance that I have now makes this bike so much fun to ride! It’s tough to choose an exhaust from a video. If you want performance in a little bit more sound this will be perfect. I also have a triumph 800 XRX and I watched videos to choose a pipe and ended up with the two brothers slip on pipe. For me in real life the two brothers sounded great but it is just extremely loud and gives me a headache. Yes I do ride with earplugs. Great video thank you. .

I won't lie, at first watch, I thought the original silencers sounded better. But, after clicking back and forth a few times between sound bites, and listening to you talk about how you felt the old silencers sounded, I totally agree with you! I can't wait to start modding my T100 this year!
@stuartfillingham7 жыл бұрын
Yes thee is very little extra volume its the quality of the tone of the exhaust that makes the difference. If you listen to the originals the sound is very uneven and the sound meter fluctuates a lot more. Thank you for watching sir!

Hey Stuart, that correspondence course with Mr Spielberg is certainly paying off. Great video and doesn't she look sexy now! Unfortunately your video last week sparked off a number of debates in our crew room about re-mapping the bike when changing anything to the exhaust system. Our resident aircraft techie is adamant even fitting the tips requires a re-map to make the engine run properly? Thanks again for a superb video. Soon as we get a dry Saturday I will be fitting my world famous brass tips. All the best sir.
@stuartfillingham7 жыл бұрын
Hey Paul thanks very much yeah steve has helped me a lot but i dont like to name drop! lol, tell your techie hes a bit out of date! in 2014 EU directive ruled that motorcycle manufacturers could no longer offer remaps that would enhance the performance of new vehicles. So Triumph had to install a learning ECU in new models that could adapt to any changes to intake and exhaust systems during the life of their motorcycles. stick your tips on, start her up, dont rev her just let her tick over and wait for the cooling fan to kick in. During that time the ECU will have collected data from the o2 sensors and will have made the required adjustments to fuel mapping for her to run correctly! take her for a gentle ride to make sure all is ok then you will almost certainly be good to go. ive done it 4 times now for air filter,tips,decat, andnow the sleepers!

You don't think your bike is running lean because of the improved fuel consumption because if it is the piston crowns get to hot and could lead to holed pistons how much can the ecu rectify any fuel issues by it's self without a ecu remap just wondering years ago had a gs1000 put a Harris race pipe on the bike didn't up jet the carbs ran to lean blue holes in pistons 2 and 4 I know edu are different but just curious
@stuartfillingham7 жыл бұрын
Hi John, i did look into this prior to ordering, as long as you follow the acclimatisation process after any intake or exhaust modifications the adaptive ECU should make all the required adjustments to fuelling. i have not heard of any problems occurring so far and this is a common modification. the lower fuel consumption is probably down to the engine not having to work so hard against back pressure!

I asked my Triumph dealer and he would not recommend any of those two because they seem not to have european registration/permission/operating permit, instead he recommended the Remus exhaust. Do you have any permission problems of the PROs in the UK or is there anything you could recommend in this regards. Hey Stuart. I was just about to purchase the BC tips for my t-120 but just realize that they won’t fit. BC has a vin number limit and clearly states that the tips won’t fit t120s above that number. Highly disappointing because they clear up the rear of the bike for chain maintenance and aren’t too pricey. QUESTION. Now that you’ve had the sleeper pros for sometime, how is the chain adjusting procedure? These pipes seem to cover the bolts even more so than the originan pee shooters. Do you have to dismount the pipes? Thanks for your help. Long time fan.

When you talk about "de-cating" the exhaust, how is that achieved? Are o2 sensors affected as well? Does the bike "re-tune" itself(like my Rocket did when I changed out piping)?

decating is the removal of the catalytic converter and fitment of an xpipe in its place Mike, and yes the bike retunes itself, o2 sensors are not removed.

I guess its a matter of taste, I like the Burgess type silencers as fitted as standard, but I guess you have to be a lover of Burgess silencers and go back to 54 and before rigid and sprung hub Thunderbirds since Triumph last used them. For my liking, I think these taper too much into the straight pipe at the back of the silencer. i.e. should they replicate as close as possible or resemble the style? great video.

I just spotted a Thruxton seat on eBay and bought it. It'll come in useful when I raise up the suspension a little and fit some more aggressive bars.

Something I don't understand. How are exhaust tips only just a bit louder (1dB) than full silencers on the T120 ? I'd expect them to be much much louder. Just as Captain Rambunctious discovered on his Thruxton !

I still had the cat fitted when i had the tips on sir. they act as a primary muffler. so although they sounded very nice they were not super loud.

Just wondered if you could name the app that you used to measure the sound level? Thanks again for the great videos.

It just called the sound meter from google play. a friend of mine runs an instrument calibration business and i got him to calibrate it against his equipment. though you can get reasonable results by following the calibration instructions.

Great video mate. Do you have to acclimatise the ECU once or every time the bike starts? I'm assuming once.

Just the once Dylan!

well... in line with the all over "classic style" of the T120 I still prefere the looks of a traditional peashooter. that is...just for the looks, don't know 'bout the technicals and performance bit though The sound is another thing ...wauw Anyway: Nice video , thanks

man lucky you in the UK here in Germany I would get my bike confiscated if I would have a pipe without that E-number I have one from QD on my heavily customized 2009 Speedmaster they are Loud but fine because of the number but still If I would put something on without that I would get into trouble even if it would be more silent one of my friends bike got confiscated even though he had stock pipes on but police suspected him to have manipulated the exhaust which he didnt so yeah I enjoy every minute outside of Germany with my bike especially the Czech republic has great roads. BTW Great video and great sound you have there I love it!

GREAT SOUND ! ! LOOK INTO "NOLOGY COILS AND SPARK WIRES " COILS 40K OUTPUT, AND WIRES HELP EVEN MORE ! THEY ALSO HAVE A GREAT SPARK PLUG, OR "BRISK EVO " SPARK PLUG IS ALSO VERY GOOD ! WITH STRONGER SPARK, THE BURN IS OVER 3-5 ° ATDC, THAT AND YOUR PIPES, DE-CAT, AND BETTER AIR FILTER , ITS A MORE POWERFUL BIKE ! YOU WILL BE LOOKING FOR SMALLER REAR SPROCKETS !

I shall look in to it Fred thanks !

Stuart, Have you replaced the stock air filter or removed the air box snorkel to increase air intake? I purchased a high flow air intake assembly from Free Spirits when I had my Street Twin but the one for the T120 is over twice the cost. I watched a video from I think TEC Bike parts and he removed the snorkel from the air box and added a higher quality air filter and claimed to gain more performance. Here's the link to the air intakes I was talking about I think they are crazy for what they are charging www.freespiritsparts.com/en/triumph/modules

Stuart l've got Norman hyde silencers on my t100 and love the sound but the workmanship is not nearly as good as the British Customs!
@stuartfillingham6 жыл бұрын
Hi Terry, yes i had a look at them myself and wasnt very impressed with the quality, i think Norman Hyde are still churning out the same sort of stuff they were making back in the 80s and although i prefer to buy British they just were not up to the standards you would expect for what they charge.
