I absolutely love my black daytona R. I put about 200 miles a week on it and never drive my truck (unless it's snowing) . In fact, I literally just sold my truck and bought an old subaru just to cash out. Every commute is a blast! It's super nimble, sounds awesome, comfy, great power, looks awesome. I have a Kreiga trailbag to carry my stuff and that works great. Oh, I'm 43, so the age comment cracked me up.

Hey @Yammie Noob, if you're tired of eating up the Pirelli Diablo SP's on the street, Try the Pirelli Angel GT's. They will last 3X as long, and they will hold the power no problem. One of the bikes in our group is a 180WHP GSXR 1000 L2, he runs Angel GT's and they hold the power on the street no problem. We save the Diablo SP's for Track Days, as they just melt on the street. Hope that helps, cheers!

Nice. Such a beautiful bike. I rode one again and I am still loving it. This will very likely be my next bike. ;) Last time I rode it was around 2013 and in my mind the reach got way worse. When I rode it again, I realized that the reach isn't that bad. The clutch friction zone is pretty far from the grip, but that is easily fixed. One more thing about the R version....you get the quickshifter, Ohlins and the Brembo brakes in the front too (compared to Nissin on the non-R).

Hello, Yammie Noob... You commented that the SPs don't last long at all (which they don't) but in your case, I think that the tire wore out a bit faster than usual because it has been fitted on your bike for quite sometime. Tires has quite long shelf lives (from manufacturing date) however, the countdown will start once they're fitted and pressurised. From then onwards, the compound characteristics will change; and as a result, may cause a difference in longevity, regardless whether the bike is ridden or not. For most cases, buying a year old bike will get you about half (or a bit more) tire lifespan compared to buying newly assembled machines. But for the Sps, I reckon the total mileage will be much lower. Although, if you want to look it another way, you got a bigger percentage.. hahaha. Tires with good ratings nowadays include Dunlop Q3, Metzeler Z7, Bridgestone S20/ T30; apart from the ever popular Pirellis, of course...

Awesome bike! I recently purchased a 2014 Daytona 675 (not the R) and love it. Have you experienced the "crunchy" clutch issue at all? At times when I pull in my clutch lever you can feel a slight crunch/grind which is coming from the gearbox. Apparently it is a common issue with these bikes, something relating to the plates being lubricated(?). It's very subtle, and not consistent, but certainly nothing I have felt on any of my past bikes (~10 other bikes).
@culvercity6945 Жыл бұрын
Shoot - I have the same issue and two mechanics have told me that it's the clutch basket and not worth fixing... I also suspect that the lubrication is a factor as well. I've seen reports though of people with only a few thousand miles having this same issue and with some people it just went away completely. For me, the crunch got worse and not sure what to do at this point - replacing the clutch basket may be pointless as it may do it again after a few thousand miles.
@JMKGarage Жыл бұрын
@@culvercity6945 I’m just living with my “crunch”. Does it the worst when cold and the first few pulls when starting to ride. Once warmed up it seems to do it less. I’m now using Motul V300 oil (not sure you can get any better than that) and still does it… maybe a little less.

Thanks for the video! I'm looking to trade my 2013 Ninja 636 in for something new and am seriously considering the 675 (non-R). I'm not a track rider and don't really care for the Ohlins suspension (would like the quick shifter but oh well) and the bikes in my area are a $2k premium over the base 675's. Also, you said upwards of $9k for the 675R and, well, you're not wrong, but the base one where I live is $12k and the R is $14k. That's quite a chunk for a middleweight super sport (I paid $10k out the door on my ZX-6R two years ago). For the $14k of the 675R you can get a new R1S which would definitely be quicker. Unfortunately my insurance cost for an R1 would double my Ninja so it looks like I am stuck in the 600-class for now...

I wen't with a 2013 non-R version in black because upon doing some research the ohlins suspension on the R is very stiff for the street, and I don't do track days...so the stock suspension is much softer and easy going for street riding and longer rides, but still gives me plenty of stability and response when riding at a "spirited" pace lol.
@BMOCroc8 жыл бұрын

+PCheezo it's still track suspension lol, there's a bike for everybody that's a beauty of options! Ride safe man #RubberSideDown
@Albertalorian8 жыл бұрын
While the Ohlins is adjustable, it is sprung and valved much more "Race/Track" Orientated. So if you are doing most of your riding on the street, the stock stuff is a much better option. However, if you are a heavy street rider (200lbs +) the Ohlins will work great on the street, without have to re-spring for your weight (most bikes are spung for 180lbs without gear). We've tested the Ohlins VS Sachs suspension on Aprilia RR and Factory Models, with pretty much the same findings.
@krishodgson2438 жыл бұрын
I'm 70kg and tested both bikes and there wasn't a huge difference between the standard and Ohlins suspension, mine's adjusted now but the R rides a treat on the road. Unless you get a huge discount on the non-R though, the R is pretty hard to beat value. Just the quickshifter and carbon-fibre is worth the price difference.
@MegaTechpc8 жыл бұрын
Well sure, if you have the $14k+ to buy it. And let's not forget that the competing bikes in the class are all around $3k cheaper MSRP. This is still just a 600 at the end of the day so I wouldn't start throwing the word "value" around too much. Great bike though...

Jay Damnstraight makes no difrence 675 is still 75cc more than a 600 regardless of cylinders . If that's the case it should be compared to to triples

+ian burns Your logic makes no sense...? So it would be fair to compare a 600cc 4 banger to a 600cc triple just because they have the same displacement...The triumph has a larger displacement because it is only a 3 cylinder in comparison to 4 so needs more displacement to make the same power figures. Just like with the Panigale which has an even bigger displacement because it is only a twin cylinder.

I like the Daytona, but own it for 4 months and it's down for one?... Shame they ain't as reliable as my gsxr if so I'd get me one. Wonderful sounding bike.

Triumphs are quite reliable but every now and then they have a recall just like many brands.

Sooooo I am currently 3000mi into my R3... thinking about upgrading to an 07 Daytona 675. Bike is modded to perfection (exhaust, tune, levers, extra track body work, 4 point slider system, HeliBars, new tires and fluids, safety inspection and more) and has about 7k miles, all for $5500. You came off an R3 too, yes? Be honest with me: how hard was the shift in riding position, and which do you prefer? I think the R3 is too upright, but I am worried the Daytona might be too aggressive for my taste. Also worried about the jump in insurance from $225 to $800 :( You seem happy with the upgrade, though. I think I will be too, just not sure if I need it... but man, do I know I WANT it. Any thoughts you have are most appreciated.

If you really WANT it, then BUY it. You'll LOVE every bit of it. Even if it's exhausting to ride, if the power-band is meh for street riding, if your pillion will screams for a "better" motorcycle, these are all the little things that makes you even more happy to be able to ride something exclusive. And if you buy something else, you'll regret it anyway.

Hey how do you think the reliability on this brand of bikes?

If you'd ask me about the biggest mistakes I made in my life, it would be selling my Daytona 675... And this video always reminds me of it... 😢
