Triumph played in Florida the night before this performance and took the red eye to California. They didn’t have time to do a sound check before performing. Gil Moore, the drummer, is using a borrowed drum set. The performance was mind blowing but it gets even more awesome when you realize the circumstances behind it!

Triumph over the years received many letters from fans who stated that the bands lyrics helped them escape from very dark places in their lives, with many stating listening to their music kept them from contemplating suicide. Rik wrote this song for their many fans who were dealing with such issues. Not only super talented band but also very down to earth and wonderful human beings. 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

I was at this concert. It was fantastic! PS...I was standing in the back of the crowd before Triumph went on, soaking it all in, when I noticed a guy next to me. Hair pulled up under a baseball cap, sunglasses on, doing the same as me. I looked at him twice and said "You're Rik Emmitt aren't you?" He replied "Yes". I said "Don't worry, I won't say anything". He said "Thanks". An hour later ^^^^^. 😎👍

Not the U.S. festival, but the Us Festival. Glen Helen park, Devore, California. I got to go to both Us 82 and Us 83. Those were my junior and senior years in HS. My dad was an executive with the county and I had all access all three days, both events. It was a hell of a show. I asked my dad if he could get a few tickets for some friends. He handed me a manilla envelope full of tickets. I gave away about 200 general admission passes to my friends at school. Such a good time. I'm glad you guys picked Triumph and this particular performance. I think they are seriously under-rated. Their sound is so good. I got into them about 1980 and haven't looked back. Several of their performances at Us 83 were captured and they are all awesome. They were quite a bit better than some other performers who were so wasted by the time they went on, they did not deliver. Steve Wozniak, introduced the band that day. Great stuff!

Rik Emmett !! One of my early rock idols. He slung his guitar high like that because he played classical and flamenco guitar to start with. In guitar posture you have the Rik position ⬆️ and the Emppu position⬇️and everywhere in between 😂

I always thought it looked really cool the way he held his guitar up high... Steve Howe also did that...

I've followed you guys for a couple of years!! I can't believe you didn't include the Rush reference in their body of work!! They're both from Canada & a 3 piece group as well!! The similarities are unreal!! I still love you guys!!

What a great band. Such great musicianship and great vocals between Rick Emmett and Gil Moore. Also smart businessmen. They were the only performers at the US Festival to negotiate in the copyright to their performance. They still get paid every time someone watches it
