Why doesn't anyone talk about Triumph more? They were F'ing fantastic. In his prime there are very few rock stars who could match his voice live. Amazing! How do Canadian bands get so much sound with a trio?

+Chris J These guys, Rush, Max Webster, and so many other great Canadian bands are from my town. I only recently found out how close my house is to where Geddy Lee of Rush lived, and where Alex Lifeson's old high school is. My kids may go to that same high school since it's the closest one to our house. I digress. So much talent! Must be something in the drinking water?

Awesome song -- the song you sing out loud in your car! And play the drums with your hands..... Those 3-man bands from Canada are pretty impressive. Count it - Triumph had 18 gold and 9 platinum albums during the 70s and 80s. Rush has 24 gold, 14 platinum, and 3 multi platinum albums. Canada - not just for hockey players anymore.

Rik Emmett left Triumph in 1988 to pursue a solo career. His first solo album, Absolutely, was released in 1990 and became a moderate hit across the United States and Canada thanks to the hits "When a Heart Breaks," "Big Lie" and "Saved by Love". He is also a writer for Guitar Player magazine and teaches song-writing and music business at Humber College in Toronto.

One of the best most powerful voices in rock& roll! This is one of my favorite 80’s songs. I have some memories from the first time I heard this song ( I loved it immediately) but it’s R-X rated so I’ll have to just keep it as a memory that makes me smile. Actually go to a heavenly place in my memory when I think about it. I’d love to go back to those days to relive it 🤫

Had to look at this clip again today as my 17 year old came in and said he heard this great song on the radio, something about "lay it on the line" and he screeched it out and it took me back to 83 and the heat and madness of the US festival. James Morrison Not using Wiki. I am using my own brain, and memory. I was a junior in HS, in '83, and designed a really cool computer program, when then concert was first announced. And, Triumph was always scheduled to play Heavy Metal Sunday. Motley was supposed to open the day, but when Joe Walsh got moved to Monday, they moved Motley to 2nd, and had QR open the show. For the 3rd time, you are wrong.
@jeff9353410 жыл бұрын

Cynthia LeVeque , it was worth it. I came down from Oregon to watch it. I was there for Van Halen but god they were awful that night. These guys blew it off the charts. I remember everyone around me were saying, "These dudes don't belong here". After their set and especially when Rik did that mind blowing solo during Rock and Roll Machine, the same people were going nuts. Best band of that day hands down!

wish people would stop comparing Triumph to Rush. Only things they have in common are Canada & 3, that's all. Triumph to me is so inspiring and upbeat with their lyrics. Rick just sings his ass off & makes it look easy at that. I discovered this band back in 1981 after Allied Forces was released and have loved them ever since. Saw them in concert at the Baltimore Civic Center for the 1986 Sport of Kings tour. Incredible talent & Lazar Light show.
