I remember mine! Riding on a 1984 Gold wing in 2001. It was apart of my first wife. Her father took me for a long ride, about 60 miles. He was 5 feet 3 inches tall and I was 6 feet.he had no problems, as he instructed me on all things to do during the ride. He gave me the best compliment at the end. He stated that he didn't even feel me on the back. But my legs were shaking when I got off of it. Left his house that week to return back home, and by that Friday, I was waiting in line to get my license. I miss that man. We did a lot of riding together and became very good friends. But I was unable to stay with his daughter, as he did his wife. I that's another story. He passed away about 4 years ago and still own a pair of gloves he gave me. Even have the slip on rain gear, but it doesn't keep me dry anymore. Thanks for the reminder. Funny, I took a 3 wheeled course this morning, I just thanked him now for getting me into this hobby.

Yes everyone remembers their first time, thanks for sharing your experience on yours. Your ex father in law sounds like a great man, I'm so glad he inspired you on you're own motorcycle journey. A pillion who remains still and sort of moves with you is worth their weight in gold. I told Joshua not to worry about leaning, I'd do that for both of us but to try to look over the same side shoulder as the turn ahead. He's as tall as me and almost the same weight around 100 kilos ( 250lbs) only his is solid muscle. The suspension wasn't quite set up right despite turning it up a couple of notches but that was only an issue over pot holes and bumps. Oh that reminds me I need to click on your channel icon, see your latest clip and subscribe. Cheers Michael 👍😀

@@greywolf9292 well, don't play my video around kids. I do curse and do bring up controversial information to today's world. The first video I have filmed, slightly edited, and posted in three hours. I have played with three other garbage edited videos, but I have a long way before getting to where I want to be with this hobby of youtube. As for pillion riding in to corners, I have the look over the opposite shoulder. If going left, look over my right shoulder. I don't want to correct for to much lean. Rather need to pull out of a corner then lean more in if the rider is not able to work with it. But I have only taken people that are female and weigh less then me. Has worked very well for me. But I don't give fun rides to people that just want to go for a ride......... wait, I did take a 95 year old for one. It was her first time on a bike. She would not wear a helmet. She just had her hair done and dint want to mess it up. She stated that if we crashed, it's OK, her hair would not need fixing. Lol

Well done Joshua, you behaved impeccably as a pillion and weren't put off by being airborne two or three times due to the quite stiff suspension on Black Beauty. I'm glad the biking bug has well and truly bit you 😯😏😊😁

Awesome! What a blast for young Joshua, it made me reminiscent of my youth when i’d occasionally go pillion on my cousin Phil’s Suzuki GT250, no comparison with the power and torque of Black Beauty but exhilarating none the less, how I yearn for those youthful days. Can’t wait to see, and hear Joshua’s reactions to going pillion on Venom! He’s a lucky lad having a bike enthusiast like yourself as his Dad 😁👍🏻

It's a pity I mistakenly deleted his initial reaction to the first real burst of throttle. We were still in town exiting the roundabout at the end of my road heading for a 40mph. The bike went from 20-40 in millisecond and he shouted F*#|{!%& WOW!! I stupidly put his mic too near his earpiece, even although it was under the cheek pad it picked up too much gain. Thankfully I altered it for the Venom ride. The GT250 in the hands of a teenager would certainly have been an experience. I'll have lots of editing to do on the ZZR footage, I'll try to include all the best bits and of coarse the stunning scenery. Thanks again for your valued support 👍😀

The sound of it is highly intoxicating and very addictive, I contemplated aftermarket pipes but there's really no need. Joshua's got " The bug" now even although he hadn't a clue what I was asking him at the time. As for the scenery I'm sorry it's one of my frequent rides just edited from both directions, although the sky can add a different perspective. His ZZR ride is coming soon, hours of editing to do yet though. Thanks for your valued support 👍😀

Cheers for watching, commenting and being supportive we both appreciate it. On the following weekend he was pillion on the ZZR which I think was even more exhilarating for him although he did say his legs were quite cramped due to the high pegs and the Nylon in his motorcycle trousers was sliding on the seat.

Hopefully your son enjoyed the experience. Shame you had a problem with the audio, it's an ongoing battle making motorcycle videos. I so remember my parents not wanting me to have a motorcycle so it's nice that he has your support. Both Carol and my older son learned to ride on a KTM125. That was over a decade ago now. I'm sure he will appreciate getting his travel independence and hopefully the pillion taster will inspire him to work towards a full license

Yes messed up the audio, placed Joshua's mic under the cheek piece but it was next to his earpiece which seemed low and may explain his difficulty hearing me. Of coarse it picked up my audio and as I hadn't noticed the boom with both my kids was above the chin guard catching wind. My mother hated me having motorbikes and to be honest I'm well breaking a promise to her not to get another one. I really fancied the Yamaha YZF-R125 60th Anniversary edition but it was expensive and impractical as a learner. I'm sure the KTM will prove ideal as it did for Carol and your son. I've improved the audio for Joshua's pillion ride on the ZZR and Joshua has bought me a Cardo Packtalk Edge Duo for my birthday with his first paycheck so future communication between us both should be much improved. Thanks again for the support you both give, it's much appreciated 👍😀

Yes even when he didn't understand what getting the bug meant, though I think he's well and truly got it now after riding pillion on the ZZR, then back on the Rocket for a ride to Tyndrum. Sorry about the audio, I've been switching Comms and mics between helmets and placement here wasn't good. Thanks for your support 👍😀

I think the smiles says it all he has caught the biking bug, and it will be there for life. You will have to share the location of that road. Some stunning scenery for sure. Are there any times that there is traffic on the roads in Scotland, Traffic is very scarce. Very nice video and I would recommend others to watch it through. Thanks for sharing. Cheers
@greywolf92928 ай бұрын
Yes, the smile says it all well almost, unfortunately I accidentally deleted the first 30 minutes of footage. Whilst still in town simply accelerating from 30 - 40 mph the Rocket did it in a millisecond, Joshua's reaction was priceless along the lines of " Procreating Wonders of the World" 😂. A week later on the ZZR going from 40 - 60 mph he exclaimed "Holy 💩" The road is called " The Sma' Glen" it runs from a tiny village called Gilmerton near Crieff Perthshire to Amulree and beyond. It and other roads do get busy with bikes, cars buses and campervans during warmer days and from Spring through Summer. Thanks for your support.

Thanks for sharing the location I will be putting this one on my list of Roads to Ride. On the subject of traffic. Generally what would you say is the best time of the year to visit Scotland.
@greywolf92928 ай бұрын
@@kimetogo That road is almost on my doorstep so please don't forget to let me know when your heading North. May can be a good time for not too much traffic and sometimes has half decent weather. The more into Summer you go the traffic increases correspondingly, that's when it helps to know " the roads less travelled". Alex and I were out riding today and discussed visiting some such roads in Ross-shire this May. No dates as yet as I need to see what annual leave dates I can have.

Thanks for watching and commenting, it's a pity I mistakenly deleted the first part of the video. After leaving the house we went round the roundabout at the end of our road, probably at around 20mph. Ahead of us was a 40 zone, so I showed him how quick the Rocket would go from 20-40. As I blipped the throttle the words F'n Wow were heard through the comms 😂

@michaellilley6725 Жыл бұрын
The sound issues and the lost footage were both my own stupid fault 😕 I've been having to swap Comms and audio mics between helmets, I thought I'd chosen well sticking Joshua's audio mic under the cheek piece but it was too close to the earpiece which seemed rather low in his helmet. The mic picked up the output from my mic which I hadn't noticed was above the chin guard leading to peaking the gain. The camera stopped and I stopped to see why, SD card full so I deleted old footage, unfortunately as all rides start at the house I mistook new for old. Such a pity, his reaction was priceless 😯😱😂 I repositioned the mic for his ZZR pillion ride and he bought me a Cardo Edge Duo for my birthday which should make for better communication between ourselves. I hope yourself and Twinks are getting some quality miles in together with this good weather 😌😀

He was overwhelmed with excitement after the first real twist of the throttle, he absolutely loved it. The suspension is a bit unforgiving over pot holes or bumps, I'll try to tweak it better. The ride certainly prepared him for what was to come a week later, when he was pillion on the ZZR1400/ZX14, it keeps pulling well after the Rocket has reached max revs. We're awaiting his licence so he can ride the KTM Duke 125 I bought him. He realises it may seem a bit underwhelming but also appreciates he needs to work his way up. Thanks for your support 👍😀
