The epiphany happens when you realize that just making your bike louder, doesn't always make it sound better. I took the cat converter off of my 2022 SS 900. With the stock cans (they are strait through glass packed also), it sounds and performs beautifully after I added the booster box that richens idle and accelerate fuel mixtures. No more throttle lag. BIG (and absurd) obstruction removed from exhaust system. Metal lathe? Del's garage has lots of fun toys. Funny lathe story: While a Junior in high school I was Teacher's assistant in metal shop. I was demonstrating metal lathe features/safety to 6-8 freshman students. I told them to always make sure you never leave the chuck key in the chuck. One kid then interrupted me, asked a question, I answered him and turned around and turned on the lathe. The key flew at about 500mph between my legs, bounced of the floor, then the 20ish foot high ceiling, then through the window of the shop teachers office. Yea Team! Luckily no one was struck by it. Bet none off those kids ever left the key in the chuck after that though.🥴 Neither did I. Happy Christmas & Merry New Year.

Was moving to question the lack of an 'upper-hinged tractor flap' to keep the rain out, then remembered it is indeed the lady's fine steed & certain terms are therefore deemed inappropriate - 'Yeah, keep the rattle in the can man, open pipes breathe!' On the matter of etiquette & good taste, may I just wish the pair of you an absolutely stonking Christmas & New Year etc. PS. The lathe-work's camera-work was beyond good & easily worth double chocolate & a hot bath (Ducks optional : )xx

With the adaptor being made from aluminium are you not concerned about bimetallic corrosion? Stainless would have been a better choice of material as it would then match the TEC exhaust material.

Please excuse my ignorance but are you saying that you can’t run that Tec can with the removable baffle out, without some form of modification (ie welds, bespoke baffle) due to a risk that the perforated core might fall out? Is this just a Tec product issue? The reason I ask is that all of my bikes, both road and track (when noise limits permit), run most of the year with the baffles removed and I’ve never thought to do anything to secure the core?

Many straight through cans run the perf' tube outside the final exit tube so the end cap itself holds it all in.. but in this design you can see that the perf' tube runs inside the end cap.. so it's retained by the baffle.. TEC advise to tack weld it in if you want to run it open.. i can't speak for other brands mate, but it is usually all held in by the end cap.. Merry Christmas too mate.. All the best.

I have found these little end caps and develop a annoying rattle over time. A small amount of high temp silicone adhesive upon assembly can quiten them up.
