4:24 Glad you mentioned 5'8" and your leg position. I have a vstar 1100 custom now and I'm a little short for it. My legs are stretched out and my feet don't rest ON the pegs, they are against the edge and always seem like they're going to slide off.

Bought one of these in Perth Austrlalia and my first ride on it was across the Nullarbor - made a VLog of the trip, just a tremendously reliable cruiser and a great way to do the ride. They represent tremendous good value and it's hard to understand why they don't sell for more. Like yours, mine for fastidiously clean when I bought it. I think perhaps they're owned by people who reminise about the older Triumphs from the 60s/70s so are kept very well. Also explains the low kms - mine was 19,000km. I have the 865 2009 model - I've always wanted the early model like yours (with the yellow-highlight colour - they're a 790 over here) but I love my 2009 one so much that I've satisfied that desire. So, with that, I enjoyed the review, seeing the differences too. Happy riding mate!

They are great bikes. Old school looks and comfortable to ride all day. You really don’t see many of them on the roads in the UK. I would bet that’s down to how expensive they are new.

About the sound, the stock exhaust is just bad, really really bad. Put in some proper exhaust like Triumph Off-Road (aka TOR exhaust) or British Customs exhaust or Trident exhaust and this bike sounds awesome. I say this engine sounds even better than the new 1200cc water cooled Triumph engines but that is just my opinion. Combine this with an Airbox Removal Kit (from British Customs) or FREAK (from NewBonneville, if I remember correctly) to get rid of that restricting airbox. If you get the jetting and needle height correct with this kit (combined with a more open exhaust of course) you get about from 5hp to 8hp more AND it also adds to the sound of this engine. You get a really nice intake roar when you twist the throttle wide open. More info and help can be found at the Triumphrat forums.

Some great advice there. Thanks.

also, TORS are popping like mad, while redducing gears
@MaaZeus Жыл бұрын
@@soilojz That they do, though you can mitigate that somewhat with proper jetting and removing the worthless air pump that makes the unburnt fuel go pop in your exhaust.
