I've been riding bikes for 40 years now, and these bikes are proof that there's never been a better time to be a motorcyclist....utterly spoilt for choice.

Good review and very valid comments. However, I would add to the five dislikes the the gaping hole in the ear fender, which has no purpose. It allows all the crap from the rear wheel to go straight through and cover the rear light. I blanked mine off with a piece of flexible plastic held in position with "No Nails" adhesive. Problem solved!

Good review as always LCR. I'm considering purchasing one of these for commuting and touring. Just wanted to point out that the bike also has an IMU so lean sensitive ABS/TC is included. Didn't hear that on your commentary so thought I'd just add that. Great work, keep em' coming.

I’m glad you’ve had a good experience dealing with Destination Triumph at Washington Chops But my experience with them has been the opposite ☹️ I had a test ride of a Triumph scrambler booked last year with them. I had to travel 30 miles to get there and when I did it wasn’t there. They had my number but didn’t bother to tell me. I asked them to let me know when they got it back in and they said they would but I never got back to me. So in my opinion their customer service is appalling and I wouldn’t go back there ☹️

My next bike for sure. I can live with the 5 bad issues you came out with. I think the tail is perfect the way it is, it's an Adventure bike... It needs a good rear fender. The tail lamp has to clear luggage also

If you use the kill switch to stop the bike briefly, do the settings still cancel? It doesn't on my 2015 800 XCx. Sitting on the bike for 6 hours or more, the seated upright position is great for your shoulders. Things I would want to improve over my 2015 model before I updated? 1) brittle front fender / too close to the tyre spacing wise on the lateral aspect. one jammed stone in the tyre side knobs rotates around and bang! 2) tank/ beak plastics break too easily without even crash damage ( use more enduro style plastic flex materials) 3) better gear spread with lower first and higher 6th gear ( addressed on 2018 model) 4) removable rear sub frame and detachable rear foot pegs ( addressed on this model?) 5) the handle bar position/ shape was too low and forward for standing up while riding. We all had to buy 2 inch Rox risers to fix this. Possibly not an issue for the road models. 6) the screens on 15--17 were crap/ noisy ineffective. I fitted a Madstad. 7) easier access to the air box. Fitting a Unifilter pre- filter to replace the induction snorkel is essential if you venture onto dirt. Swapping a turbine smooth motor for one with character ( vibes like a twin) and 10 % more torque; big decision to make! BTW I kept waiting for a kangaroo to jump out suddenly and knock you arse up. Now that is really adventure riding ( brown pants moments)

I've just bought the 2022 triumph 900gt pro...test rode it and can't fault it...my last bike was a 2005R1 so when it comes to a sporter feel that's something I was not expecting from this type of bike and obviously I wasn't expecting it. But the riding style of this bike has no affect on my smiles. Its comfortable and that's better than any sport bike and I found the gt pro really fun.

Ok great review. I picked up my Rally Pro on Wednesday the 10th so feel that I'm a little qualified to comment on your comments. Traded in my 2015 1200 Explorer on it. I totally agree with all your top 5's, except I'm loving the 21" front wheel the bike handles amazingly well on the black stuff. No off road just yet but have already clocked up 750km, so still running her in. Colour I chose is Khaki the only colour IMHO. The top 5 negatives are very personal and non bother me. There are 4 different screen layouts and you can have a very visible RPM counter on the side by side screen, however all others have the option of what is displayed on the TFT, it's very customisable. My only gripe would be that the rear brake lever needs to extend out a little further as I've missed it a couple of times, mainly with the big Sidi Adv boots on. Just love the engine, great sound and so responsive, it's just a really fun bike to ride. Not even missing the 1200 as I thought I would and I did 60,000km on it so I knew it pretty well. It was boring in comparison. I really at this stage can't fault the bike. I'm so pleased with the purchase. Also that tiny little windscreen does and outstanding job, I get breeze but no buffering at all, I'm 5'11". The engine heat is a thing of the past, the 1200 was so bloody hot, I won't miss that. Lesson learned is you do not need a 1200cc adventure bike, the 900 is so much better in almost every aspect of what you need out of this style of bike. One very happy triumph owner...

Great review. I'm test riding one on Saturday. Can't wait to be honest, first adventure bike experience after a life on sports bikes and naked. I looked at the demo bike in the dealership and the build quality seems really good. I believe Triumph are bringing more and more manufacturing back to the UK in the future, so it's great to be able to support a British manufacturer without having to make any excuses or accept any compromises. 👍

I ride on unsealed roads & would be interested in the Rally version. I agree with you about most of your points. Especially about the inability to change to and from off-road modes on the fly. In reality, you often just leave the bike in the off-road mode if the asphalt section is only 5 or 10 km. Which isn't the safest way of doing things & defeats Triumph's reasoning. I'm an old fart and 6'4" and don't want to wrap myself around a sports bike anymore so I'm happy with the riding position and agree with you about the weight. I often don't see other vehicles for several hours, say Birmingham to Bournemouth, and have to be able to pick the bike up myself. I don't like the fact that the WP suspension has gone but not having ridden the bike I haven't got a fixed opinion. I lowered the gearing on my tiger by 1 tooth on the front sprocket to get more grunt at low revs which worked so I believe that the new crank would have a similar effect & more torque low down would be a good thing. Manufacturers don't provide bikes out of the box that are ready for adventure riding most need more crash bars better bash plates & things like indicators that need moving out of harm's way. Thoughtful review thank you & sorry for prattling on.

I'm wondering if the traction control turning ON after restart is something to do with Euro Regulations perhaps? Also, could be a legal thing. Avoids someone sueing them if they come off because they didn't realise the TC turns OFF and stays off when you restart? Maybe, who knows. I'd love one though! Great bike. Very good sir! I always find it hard to find things I don't like, but yes, so annoying having to hold the clutch in! Not as bad as the ER6 though, with that you had to hold the clutch in and be in neutral. That caught me out a few times when stopped at level crossings.

Re everything switching off, one solution would be that when you restart the screen reminds you of all functions that are engaged so you can keep them or turn them off. Is that red burgandy (dark red)? It looks bright Ducati red to me, must be the video distorting the colour.

Enjoyed your review Lamb Chop, it's good to be getting feedback from someone who has spent a bit more time on the new Tiger. Couple of questions: Do you have any idea if the GT Pro would be a good bike for taking a pillion on - obviously I will try that out on a test ride, but wondered if you have any thoughts on this? Is that the AGV AX-9 helmet you're wearing, and how would you rate that? Is it quiet or noisy over say 40 mph - I can't hear too much wind noise through your comm system? Also your voice comes over really well - what is the comm system - is it a Senna set up, and how would you rate that? Was it easy enough to fit the speakers into the helmet? Thanks a lot for your reviews always informative and entertaining - I finally got round to subscribing.

I hope Triumph watches this review and takes note of the bad points, especially - memorising the settings, bike colour schemes and display layout. I would also like to add the rear subframe to this list, which was left unpainted, it would look so much better in black. In fact on the Triumph site the white GT Pro is shown with a black subframe but they are still being produced in chrome as before. What I find realy annoying is that they got so much of it right and failed on some of the most obvious points. Such a shame.

Another good, (if slightly chaotic!) and informative video :-) I agree on on the looks/paint. I expressed my views about the look of Triumphs to a couple of their employees at one of their dealer open days many ( 18?) years ago. I got told that 'They were very proud of the understated styling of their bikes', which puzzled me. Surely appearances sell? You want to open your gagrage door and think 'Oh yeah' when you see your bike, don't you? I know I would if I owned the new Ducati 950s. I need to ride and see them both; unless you are going to test the Ducati - - - ?

test rode on of these. I don't like the new crank and firing order. I'm comparing it to Street and Speed Triples. Both which I really like. It made it twin like. Hi LC, I've had my GT PRO for about a month now and agree with all your likes/dislikes, I would add another niggle, not serious but annoying and that is, why, WHY do Triumph insist on using a 19" CROSSPLY WITH NONE STANDARD size ( 100/90-19, Note -19 not -R19) as also used on the 800 (I had a 800 XRX for two years), both bike suffer from tramlining, although the 900 is not as bad as the 800. Apart from this, I think the 900GT PRO is a great bike and is certainly much better than my 800XRX, and given the equiment level is good (relatively) value compared to the Honda's and BMW. As you said, (and at 77yr's) its far more manageable to move around, I would also add another like, have you tried putting it on the centre stand? It's one of the easyiest I've ever used. Cheers, Gordon Waltham
