Hey Gordon. Phil again. Just had to adjust the chain on my Tiger. Like you say, a bit tight trying to get the C spanner neatly on to those lugs on the adjusting ring. I gave up with the C spanner and used a drift to tap the adjusting ring round. (Anti-clockwise to tighten the chain). The ring is very stiff to turn but the drift made light work of it. Play safe chum 😉.

You would think they could have made the adjuster a bit thicker maybe only 2 mm so the c spanner would locate more easily. Mind you since I took the mechanism apart and regressed it it seems to be easier to do.

Thanks Gordon, it’s raining today so a good excuse to do this job. I have an electric Scotoiler on order. Had a vacuum Scotoiler on my old Tiger, very rarely had to adjust the chain and that chain/sprockets lasted 28k miles and even then did not really need changing.

I have thought about a Scotoiler but some people say they can fling oil all over. I guess that is down to how it is installed and what oil they are using. When you fit yours a video or pictures would be helpful.

Oh man, I’ve had the same trouble and even with the same spanner you have it is a nightmare getting it to lock on from underneath…. Because it is anti-clock to tighten you have to hook it from underneath, I tried over the top but I couldn’t make it work so I found it easier to remove the back wheel as it gave me more space and visibility to adjust the chain but you do need a centre or paddock stand to do it…. Great vid by the way !
