Nice work! My TR4 trans had Torrington needle bearings in the cluster gear so no fear of the needles falling out. I removed the original pitted needles Torrington bearings with a high speed die grinder through the shells. I missed why you could not overhaul the original TR4 trans. When I did my trans all I had to replace were the Torrington’s and the ball bearings. I dressed down the brass synchro rings to give correct clearance to gears.

Good video, guys. I love the "don't do it that way" comments. Half the reason why we do this! I had a beer in your honor!

Thanks Chris! Love sharing the fails too (though they don't feel so good at the time 😆). Cheers!

Looks like you've about got it together. Or as we say, "All I lack is the finishing up". So it's hot in S. Dakota? Nice and cool here in Tennessee. But I'm sure that we are going to pay for it later...

Ugh, June has had highs over 90 F for over half the days so far 🥵

@@WegsGarage Just be sure to keep it up there, or pass it off to Canada. We don't want the hot weather down here. How is your rear seal on your engine looking? And are there any freeze plugs on the back of the engine? Now would be a good time to look at those.

Are you using gasket maker as thread Locker? Reason?
@WegsGarage4 жыл бұрын
Hey Graham! The bolts on the input shaft cover go all the way through to the "wet" side of the case. There are copper washers, but we put gasket sealer on the bolt threads as an extra precaution.

Wegs Garage good additional tip. Thank you.

What persarverance and attention to detail. Just think you can visualise thru the floor all those components connecting, knowing they are all good and your machine will take you where ever you want to go ( and back home again) I was told hard first gear acceleration prematurely wears crankshaft bearings as well as first gear shafts

It has been a fun learning process! Can't wait to throw the first shift for real (hopefully soon). The first gear advice seems very widely known so there must be some merit to it. It would be fun to do some experiments to find out - but we won't be sacrificing this 'box in the name of science hahaha
