@quintenvermeulen45763 жыл бұрын
There's no way it didn't at least hurt on stage. With how much his voice cracks and breaks at Flies for example, it sounds like his vocal cords are starting to give in. I'm currently learning to scream and before I learned to create distortion without pushing the living hell out of my diaphragm, I could barely scream half of a song before I started to taste blood and my throat started to hurt. Maybe he didn't realize he'd blow his voice out completely some day, but it must've been extremely painful to do this stuff every day on tour.
@dylangilman3 жыл бұрын
@@quintenvermeulen4576 Yeah learning to scream is rough. So many times I almost blew my voice out after one song trying to learn. It's awful. Thankfully (hopefully for you as well) it's much easier these days
@quintenvermeulen45763 жыл бұрын
@@dylangilman indeed, it's a long, aggravating journey. I've been learning it for a year now and I've been all over the place with different methods. There have been a few months where I basically did some weird kind of slightly louder, high pitched vocal fry, then I fell back into harmful habits and now I can do what I'm pretty sure is a proper fry scream (at least it does sound like it), as well as a variation that sounds eerily similar to Jamey Jasta in terms of pitch. I'm also trying to learn false cord screams since a couple of months. Good luck man, hope you're getting good at it!
@PonchoVonRichtor3 жыл бұрын
@@dylangilman same with me. I remember teaching myself how to scream back in high school with ABSOLUTEY NO FUCKING IDEA what I was doing.. I had quite a few times when I was tasting blood and not being able to talk after ten minutes of screaming lol. Took me a while to learn, but my body finally figured it out. Trivium’s Shogun tour was fucking legendary. I saw them at a tiny ass venue near Monterey CA. Whitechapel opened. Such a killer show. They allowed ticket holders to download the set they played by submitting your barcode on their website, and it turned out my show had a unique setlist. So i thought it was cool they gave you the setlist for the show you went to. For my version of “My Hatred” Paulo fucked up and had the wrong bass and they had to start the song over, and that made it onto my recording of the show. Also had my favorite recording of “When All Light Dies.” Trivium are damn legends, and take good care of their fans 🤘
