If you have a fainted Pokémon but are low on revives, you can Power Up that Pokémon. It will gain a little HP. This acts like a micro-revive and then you can use potions to max out its HP. Please "like" so that others can see this useful trick. Keep up the good work, Nick.

My advice: If you are able to downgrade an opponent gym, so that a Blissey is at the bottom, just do it. Very often the opposite Team will level it up again against the Blissey. At the moment every day I level down a certain arena from 32k to 20k prestige and each day it gets leveled up again to 32k and they train against a high level Blissey at the bottom. It's ridiculous how many potions they waste...

Potion efficiency, don't forget having a high attack stat and low hp. Especially Flareon. Flareon will kill a single Blissey and can basically be healed with a revive and super potion. @BllueBalls7 жыл бұрын
The light does last longer. daylight savings is only implemented in areas where the amount of hours of a day receive more sunlight than the night hours of a day. This occurs in summer and the reverse happens in the winter. It so more significant the further you are from the equator. Clocks are changed to so that society can more easily use these extra daylight hours (this needs to happen because the light hours dont increase evenly either side of 12 midday). In north Australia the summer to winter daylight changes by maybe 1 hour or less through the year (we dont use daylight savings). In northern Europe it changes by maybe 6hours and towards the poles it swings for months of light in the summer(the sun will never fully set) to months of dark in the winter. One day is always 24 hrs but the amount of time of this day that is in light and darkness changes with the seasons. (equator gets 12 hours sunlight and 12 hours dark all year round) (daylight savings places mite get 16hrs of light and 8 hours of dark in the summer and reverse in the winter i.e. you do actually get more daylight hours.)

Those were some really great resource conservation tips. I'd never thought of using a pokemon once and then transferring; that's pretty brilliant. I don't know if it would work for anyone other than me, but I thought I might offer my own technique. I figure out the specific number I need of certain items and throw away any that I receive over that number. For example, my personal play style creates fairly stable and quite little demand for razz berries and nanab berries, so I only keep 15 and 5 of each, respectively. I don't do a ton of gym battles, so I only keep 20 potions and 20 revives, although when I'm planning on training or fighting a gym, I'll let that number raise a bit. The downside of my technique is that it requires a considerable amount of inventory maintenance. When I am at my limit (350, never bought an expansion), each spin means that I have to go into my inventory and delete something. One advantage that might not be immediately obvious is that I usually only have max potions, max revives, and I generally have over 200 Ultra Balls, because, obviously, as I delete items to get back to 350 so that I can spin the next stop, I delete the weakest items first. Sorry this was so long, but hopefully, this will be helpful for someone. Thanks for all the great content, Nick.

How do you feel about Blissey in regards to the issue of team balance? In my case, as a member of instinct, I feel like the potential of blissey to time out rival pokemon works in favor of the other teams, as, if a gym is held by a lot of high level defenders, at least I can usually use multiple pokemon to defeat them, but with blissey, a high level one can time out attackers that could normally take out a blissey, if only they had a few more seconds. (The meaning of this might not be clear to some, but instinct has an extreme and severe disadvantage in my area. Even if you expend all your high level pokemon to take down a rival gym, there is hardly anyone to come in and support you.)

Thanks a lot for your experiments here Nick! Before they re-balanced and sped the quick moves back up, I did some SERIOUS experiments against Blissey. What I found was going for the highest damage quickmoves and charge moves did the best, ignoring stab altogether. I found that a zen headbutt/solar beam Exeggutor did the best overall. His quick dodge was helpful and the total DPS of solar beam was the key. Try it out sometime! You can finish a Blissey battle of the CP you did with 20+ seconds on the clock! I love your videos, forget the complainers they are < 1% of your viewer base.

Why are you talking about Blissey's offensive DPS when you are talking about counters to Blissey in a gym? The quick move is on a static timer so Zen Headbutt does more damage than Pound, even with STAB, it has better type coverage, and it has better EPS meaning Blissey will use more charge moves. Attacking with Blissey is simply a mistake. The thing is a potion drain as an attacker. There are always better options with type advantage. Meaning, you did not go up against the worst case scenario Blissey at all. The worst case scenario Blissey (hardest to beat) is clearly Zen Headbutt/Dazzling Gleam. With Hyper Beam being used less often and being way easier to dodge, (and thus requiring fewer dodges, meaning more time attacking) Pound/Hyper Beam Blissey is by far the easiest to beat.
@mattwiesen55617 жыл бұрын
Agreed. I have a Zen Headbutt/Dazzling Gleam Blissey and it's more of a pain in the ass for attackers than a Pound/Hyper Beam one because of the stated facts. A lot of people, even TT are so focused on STAB that they completely ignore the fact that other movesets without STAB are far better for certain Pokemon. Same with people putting high CP pokemon with double weaknesses in Gyms. Best example is Garados. It gets taken down so quickly with jolteon. Still, you see it everywhere. I mean, I can't complain as an attacker. :)
@violetxbox7 жыл бұрын
JU57US so what is the counter according to you?
@JU57US7 жыл бұрын
Not entirely sure what you're asking, but I'll give it a shot. A "counter" in general is a pokemon that can efficiently beat the target pokemon in a gym. Blissey is normal type, so it's "counters" would be exactly the same counters as Snorlax. As TRNRTips previously stated, you just basically hit it with your highest damage output pokemon that can take the heat. The higher the DPS, the more likely that your attacking pokemon isn't very tanky (think Gengar/Alakazam) and will take a lot of damage, and may faint. So I tend to go at Blissey with things such as Exeggcutor with Confusion or Extrasensory as a quick move. Confusion hits a hard 20 before STAB. Extrasensory is weaker, but faster and has massive EPS making it easier to get to those charge moves like Solar Beam. An Exeggcutor is also nice because it resists psychic type attacks such as Blissey's Zen Headbutt and Psychic, making dodges not as direly necessary. Other than Exeggcutor, you can go after Blissey/Snorlax with Machamp now that fighting type moves are buffed with Counter/Close Combat or Dynamic Punch. I do agree with Nick that a half-bar 90 dmg Dynamic Punch is better than a full-bar 100 dmg Close Combat. But before fighting type moves were buffed, it wasn't efficient to go at Snorlax (or Blissey had it been in the game) with type advantage over pure offensive DPS. My gripe was that Nick was talking about a counter to Blissey, but then kept talking about Blissey's offensive DPS, claiming that Pound/Hyper Beam was the best moveset. Offensive DPS has nothing to do with how a pokemon interacts as a gym defender. Blissey's best gym defense moveset is Zen Headbutt/Dazzling Gleam, even though neither of those moves benefit from STAB. The way every pokemon acts while defending a gym, Zen Headbutt/Dazzling Gleam provides Blissey with the most damage output due to the fact that DG is a half-bar, 100 dmg move, and is arguably the hardest charge move to dodge due to the quirky animation. Compared to Psychic, DG does exactly the same damage but takes half as long to charge up. Compared to Hyper Beam: despite HB being exceptionally easy to dodge, with STAB the damage output is 187.5. DG has a damage output of 200 when using the same amount of energy that HB requires. Sure, when looking purely at OFFENSIVE DPS, a ZH/DG Blissey is the worst. But as a gym DEFENDER, it's the absolute best moveset.

I actually think you do worse by dodging. Letting them hit you causes you to get more attacks in and lets your charge bar go up, so you kill it quicker and take less damage in the end. Most of Blissey's damage seems to be from Hyper Beam anyway, so you only need to dodge that.

It's very solid (I'm in Florida so I get them too), but like Machamp, it's fighting which gives it a partial weakness to Blissey's psychic moves. Bug is not weak to psychic, but also not resistant, so it doesn't wipe out the weakness from fighting. Fighting is also weak to fairy (ie dazzling gleam). Definitely good for pound / hyper beam blissey. I'd pick Exeggutor or Alakazam for the psychic type blissey as psychic actually resists psychic. Arcanine is a good choice for dazzling gleam blissey as fire resists fairy. Always good to have options :) Oh and steel resists both psychic AND fairy. Shame we don't have great steel options. Scizor, Steelix, Skarmory. With Scizor the only one with the ability to get a decent CP.

So my husband and I were finally able to train it up and add in our Pokémon. He put his 2600 blissey at the bottom, and I put my 3000 Dragonite at the top, and we have literally held that gym for over a month!And there are a ton of team Valor around here and even a decent amount of team instinct, so it's not like there isn't a whole lot of players from other teams to potentially fight it...

The best way to beat Blissey and try to save some potions is fight with your friends. Maybe Niantic is thinking about gyms because of Blissey, because they know that union make force... I think that players who doesnt cheat play with others to play gyms (and also catch because when you reach 30 it always have the same PC and will tell to the others if is high or low, or the even IVs) and players who cheat or spoofing will never play together with other only because of the fear of being reported and banned. So maybe this could be a way to clean this game...

Hey nick, you say that STAB and Super Effective bonuses are the same... do they stack?
@th33nd0fy0u7 жыл бұрын
Yes they stack, that's why you always want to have a Pokémon with a STAB move doing super effective damage. What Nick means however is that they both have a 1.25× multiplier, so a 10 DPS STAB move is better than a 8 DPS SE move.

I evolved an Ursaring with Counter and Hyperbeam and it has worked pretty well, being a normal type it resists both hyper beam and pound plus it doesnt get the extra damage from psychic moves as Machamp does.

Dude so happy you actually skate and not just longboard!
@loganlalonde29707 жыл бұрын
I like using Arcanine with Fire Fang Fire Blast - usually takes it out without dodging with 12-15 seconds left on the clock, and 5-8 seconds remaining with dodging.

QUESTION When switching in the middle of an attack, does the current or next Pokemon take the damage? In my experience it seems like the second you click on the other Pokemon to swap out (barring lag), the switched-in Pokemon takes the full brunt of the hit.

Dragonite with Dragon Breath+Dragon Pulse will kill a blissy of any CP or skill set with 20 or so seconds to spare. Dragonite with Dragon Tail+Outrage is even better- Tyrannitar with bite+Stone edge will also dispose of Blissy efficiently. You need to sneak more attacks in during the hyperbeam charge up. That's painful to watch the clock while you sit there waiting for the bus.

Thanks for the tests, saved me some time! As others have stated, I don't think DPS of quick moves is applicable for comparison on defense, Pound is much worse for blissey on defense because its much lower damage since the move is done on the same timer no matter how much damage it does so zen headbutt is actually a good bit better, especially when its hitting for SE damage.
@pendaflux7 жыл бұрын
Ursaring with fighting moves is pretty good too! I also use an exeggutor to get off a solar beam or two, but eventually switch out.

The few times I've gone up against Blissey I used Hitmonlee. But watching you use Rydon is comforting there is a Ryhorn nest close by I'm going to go stock up on candies.

I recently took out a level 1 Instinct gym and it had a 2698 Blissey. Took me at least a dozen times to take out, but my Gyarados with Bite and Hydro Pump at 2612 CP helped to take it out.

A surprisingly great counter is Arcanine with Fire Fang and Fire Blast. My perfect IV Arcanine with 2697 CP took down a 2840 Blissey with Zen Headbutt and Psychic with a little over 30 seconds left. I tried it with the same Blissey with my 89% IV Arcanine with 2072 CP, 13 seconds left. The thing is, you can't dodge quick moves every time, only charge moves in order to not run out of time. So it's not that great in preserving potions, but it's my favorite strategy to take down Blisseys faster. Another good counter is Exeggutor with Zen Headbutt and Solar Beam simply because of Solar Beam.

Just watched this video again. Really great video! I use my almost fully powered up Espeon at 2800 cp, 98% IV with confusion and future sight against big Blisseys. He's very powerful!
@Drewsaphina7 жыл бұрын
I find Dazzeling gleam Blissy more difficult in the meta game with those like Rydon that have to dodge only the special attack due to time because the special attacks do come more frequiently which means you time out more often. You may want to look into this seeing as your matches did come aweful close on time. Great channel.
@Memann2087 жыл бұрын
Nick, just gonna throw it out there. I had a 2.3k Fire Spin Overheat Flareon that took down a Pound Psychic Blissey at 2.5k. It did go through some dodges and I ended with 20 or so seconds left, and a couple of HP left. Taken that in that fight I also did mistime a dodge on Psychic. My conclusion? High attack stat pokemon are generally really good against Blissey. High CP helps since it also dictates that the Pokemon can also take a few punches.

in my experience, Dazzling gleam blissey is more difficult to deal with. DG hits much more often, is difficult to dodge, and since you need to dodge it so many times, dodging takes up more time
@yunhuaji30387 жыл бұрын
It looks like by only dodging charged moves of blissey is more efficient in both time and potion. you can hit 1.5~2 times more with taking a full pound dmg, in terms of dmg/taking dmg ratio, it looks more efficient. Similar strategy can be used towards all low dmg quick moves

The hard part is so much is interconnected in this game: "I don't have Pokeballs so I'll battle gyms.....my Pokemon don't fair well in gyms so I need to power them up......which requires Stardust....which you get from catching Pokemon.....which require, wait for it......Pokeballs."
