I was fortunate enough to meet Mr. Green when the original Mac was touring America, we were sharing a dressing room at a teen club north of Detroit. They were booked for two nights and the basement of the ski lodge, 'Silverbell' was a combination of staging area, dressing rooms and a flop house for musicians from Rochester Michigan courtesy of the promoter. Mr. Green was a real gentleman, asked if he could play my Stratocaster, and offered his Les Paul to me. He had the upper bout strap end screwed on, with a leather horse cinch belly strap. The strap a series had two holes in series for the horse buckle, you can see the strap on several 'Mac' vids from those days. The guitar was not nearly as beat up as it is now, played like silk but I didn't plug it in, we didn't have an amp in the dressing room. He played the show through a Fender Twin , we all sat down in front, all we little guitar dweebs. He blew our minds. Within a week I found an old horse cinch strap, and mounted it, still on my Strat. So casual, such a nice man, he was plugged in to the 'big juice,' a seer of things others cannot, could hear what others could not. Still a big hero, who never wanted to be,,,,,,,,,,,,,

We all know that it is not worth that money, today is not like before, there are top guitar makers and they are more than capable of making such and even better guitars that look 100% like the original Gibson and much better and certainly the price would not be 50,000 $, if this is true, the witness is the Gibson replica '59, which was built by a top craftsman, unfortunately today the late luthier Kris Derrig, the guitar was brought by Slash's manager when they were recording the legendary masterpiece Appetite For Destruction, we also know that Gibson took that guitar and made an original Gibson based on it, this story says it all, I'll repeat it, the guitar is certainly not worth that much money, but that's not the point, unfortunately it's not even intended for mortals, but for rich people and collectors, and of course I'm sure it will sell out quickly because they is only 50 pieces, for comparison, some paintings by famous painters are also not worth insane amounts of money, but we are witnesses that they are still worth it and that rich people buy them, rich people like to have such things and that is normal but Gibson runs his business the way he wants and it must be admitted that they are doing great, ok, all this makes some people angry, because guitars should be played, I agree, but who are we to judge how and on what someone will spend money and what will he do with the guitar, in the end I'm personally glad that Gibson made this, madness, three top guitarists, three legends, Peter Green & Gary Moore & Kirk Hammett, Gibson Greeny Les Paul 1959 !!! 👍👍👍

Fenders are much more practical instruments, there no denying that. Many of the artists who popularized Gibson have since switched over. Aside from the practical design, I just feel better about supporting Fender. You can see them try new things and reach out to new artists, and it seems to be working for them. My grandfather said he cranked the hell out of his marshall amp he was using at that gig. Peter was so loud yet so delicate and precise it was an incredible thing to experience and his vocal talents were also incredible. I'm sure many of you who watch Trogly have never heard Peter Green play or heard his songs, check out the the bluesbreakers hard road album and the first 3 fleetwood mac albums, i think you will appreciate how much of a great musician he was and how impossibly great his tone was. He without a doubt is one of the hardest guitarists to emulate as his use of dynamics was otherworldly. It's tragic that his immense talent was puffed out early in his career due to schizophrenia. He still stands as one of the greatest blues guitarists of all time which in such a short career says a lot.

There were three price levels: $56, $76, and $96 at a venue that seats about 2,400 people. It sold out of face value tickets in less than 30 minutes. The website was so jacked up when tickets first went on sale that it didn’t even have a seating chart so you would know where the seats were that they were offering you. I picked the $96 tickets and hoped for the best. After I got through with the insanely long checkout process I logged back into the site to see if they had put up a seating chart yet, and to see if any tickets were left. The only tickets still available were reseller tickets that now ranged in price from $140-400. On a good note, my seats were in the center of the second row less than 10ft from the stage.

forcing them to not sell something as a condition of purchase was determined to be an unenforceable clause in many states, possibly even in a federal court. A pro wrestler bought a 600Kdollar sportscar that the manufacturer said they could sell for x-years, but he flipped it. The manufacturer sued and lost. Not sure if that was a federal precedent established or just a state law issue...

But let's not pretend this is Gibson in any way sticking up for the little guy or trying to "get guitars into musicians' hands"....if that were the case, they'd be a third the price, and the run wouldnt be nearly so limited. Gibson makes twice as much when selling them in house. With more guitars being sold online, why do we even need resellers? Gibson (and Martin and Fender and others) can accomplish the same thing and make twice the profit. Now with Gibson even selling their returns and rejects--I suspect that is quite a profit point for them. A simple check of their Demo shop on Reverb shows 3,000 sales. If we assume they "only" made $1k per guitar (with most being much more than that)--that is $3 Million in about 2 years. A fairly handsome profit for selling rejects!

Gibson can draw up whatever “contract” they want to. And they can tell you not to sell the guitar even. But that doesn’t mean anything really. Even if it’s something you signed. Take that “contract” to any lawyer and they’d laugh at it. It means as much as the contracts businesses are making employees sign saying they can’t discuss what they’re paid with other employees. That’s not enforceable. That’s just lawyers making up a contract for a company and making it sound like it’s official and serious. But in the end, legally speaking, a company can’t tell you what you can talk about. Just like they can’t tell someone who already owns something they sold them, what they can do with that. No matter how many contracts they make you sign, it’s not enforceable. It’s barely something that could even be argued in court. And a real lawyer would have a field day with some pieces of paper a company makes you sign telling you what you can do with your own guitar. No doubt you would be dead to Gibson though after something like that! LOL. That is something they most definitely can do if they wanted. Just freeze you out. But that’s all they could do. They couldn’t get you into legal trouble though.

For anyone who doesn’t understand why the price is so high, ever notice how every time Gibson releases an awesome limited edition guitar they always sell immediately for more money on reverb. That means Gibson didn’t charge a high enough price and could’ve got more money. That’s why they’ve been getting more and more expensive. Gibson manipulates reissues when they can devalue previous reissues. Perfect example is the Scott Moore release from a year ago. Price was increasing rapidly so this reissue knocks that down in value. The game with the mod shop is like a place for the problem child and someone will pay more than it's worth. Sorry but Gibson has no sense of history or heritage. That sign being sold should be reissued.

@@sixslinger9951 - Though flawed FAR too often. No wonder Slash’s #1 was a Kris Derrig… AND he bought it for around $2500 - which is now, $6500. Can a $6500 LP straight from the factory be flawed. As much as I love LPs, the answer is -- yes. Derrig’s were flawless.
@SlyRyFry Жыл бұрын
@@sixslinger9951 They really don't though. No bit of history justifies the over inflated prices. Plus the competition on the market speaks for itself, hardly any rational musician is still considering a Gibson these days. It used to be all I wanted as a beginner guitarist was Adam Jones silverburst LP, and now that they're available and I have way more knowledge on the gear available on the market its simply unjustifiable. Even with the money to do so I just can't find it in me to order one when there's so many better alternatives. You can see this trend in many musicians from my generation onward. Gibson is eventually gonna become a pickup manufacturer sooner than later and maybe make super limited runs in a custom shop. Then you have the QC in recent years and it's like why would you even want to run the risk with Gibson when you could get multiple amazing guitars or something custom for nearly the same price. Fender, Ibanez, Schecter, etc. sell guitars for the masses. Gibson makes mid tier hit or miss guitars for millionaires, established musicians, and bozos fixated on their favorite band using les pauls enough to get one overpriced guitar. I say this as someone that as a teenager would go to guitar center nearly every day just to try out les pauls.
