March 23 2024 Outting
Spring Run Stripers Kicking Off March 2024
Don't forget I have a website for all the fishing information you will ever need for your adventures and I cook everything I catch:
please visit: www.24ksportfis...
Well Spring has sprung and the water is warming up. Delta Stripers will be roaming the usual spots in search of places to do their business and we will be trying to follow them and have fun catching them. It's one of the most fun times of the year since the Stripers during the Spring are healthy, agile and aggressive making the bites intense even for the smaller fighting fish.
We were out on a rainy day but that did not stop our craving for some hard fighting action as we haunted up and down the the San Joaquin river looking for where these early spring stripers might be.
We found them in the morning around West Island and later in the evening around Eddos Marina Harbor.
the Westbank at least for our outting produced nothing for this week.
Thank you for watching and see you on the water!

It's 2024 and Striper Bass fishing season is just getting started as the water temperatures are inching their way into the sweet spawning zone between 61-69 degrees around our beloved California Delta. We went out Saturday March 23rd just to have a look at the season and to reacquaint ourselves with the Delta since we have been fishing alot out in the San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean. I have to say, I almost forgot how much I truly enjoy the Delta and I will be making lots of new videos on the Delta before we ourselves migrate down southwest following the fish doing what we do best and that is, putting fish on the boat. I hope you all are loving the new videos, the format, the style and I would love to see more of my non subscribed viewers, there are alot, hit that subscribe button and the thumbs up if you are truly enjoying the footage. I can see, there are many viewers that are on the cusp of subscribing but aren't sure about my channel content, but I promise you will not want to miss this season and all that I will be bringing which includes my fish inspired cooking recipes that follow our amazing catches so follow us and join our adventures on the 2024 journey from the Delta out into the ocean, See you all on the water!!

Yes indeed, we could have stay on that spot and landed a hundred I agree, but we were looking for quality sizes, the schools were borderline so we searched other nearby spots and it paid off for us. Congrats on your adventure my friend, can't wait for warmer water, when the spawn kicks off, it'll be some bigger more aggressive bites for sure!! stay tuned as we will be targetting them in the next few weeks, we are just a few weeks away from warmer waters and better fish, they are definately there though...... where were you fishing on your outting?

@@doutdoornwrenching1010 For sure, we plan to head out April 6th this time with more man power to handle multiple lines more efficiently since catching so many fish can wear down a two person team, but it was a blast, with arms sore from line reset and snags :-)

Nice…I’ve never been able to figure out how to troll without catching tons of weeds
@24ksportfishing
@24ksportfishing 4 ай бұрын
Well the trolling game for the uninitiated can often be frustrating. But time on the water and experience will let you know that, we absolutely catch lots of weeds and have to reset alot! as you will find at the beginning of this video, the fist thing in the mornning we only dragged weeds almost every drop so in this video, I made the call to move to a new location. sometimes you have to give up on a spot for a few hours and often the whole day because of the weeds. But when you are trolling resets are normal and annoying but, you gotta keep grinding and moving around to areas that have less debris, Two things I will say in my experience trolling: 1. if you're not snagging your not close enough to the bottom, that's not saying you should want to or wish to but that's where the actively feeding fish are at the bottoms, hardly ever suspended action if ever 2. resets as annoying as they might be, it's part of the trolling game, and you have to teach your fishing buddies to expect to reset very often on a HOT line. I consider trolling kinda like casting, sometimes you can cast 100 times no fish, trolling is similar sometimes you can reset 20 times and pick up debris but resetting is part of the game, I hate it too trust me, lol this is why when we find a very clean with fish we try to stay on it

We need to get you setup on a proper trolling rod. It looks like you’re using line counter trolling reels on spinning rods given the size of the first couple of guides being so big! 🧐

We totally are :-) what do you recommend that won't break the bank for 8 rods? it works and we do plan to get some new rods at some point, thanks

@@24ksportfishing I went with the Okuma Classic Pro GLT series of rods that I paired up with my Okuma line counter reels. They have lots of different models and are all priced below $50. Google “Great Lakes Trolling Rods” and you’ll find quite a few different manufacturers Diawa, Okuma and Shimano that hit the $25 to $50 price point. I really like the durability of the Okuma Classic Pro GLT and have caught salmon, lingcod, albacore tuna and halibut on them. 👌🏻

I forgot to ask, do you run braid/mono? And do you tie straight to lure or use dropper to get them down further
@24ksportfishing
@24ksportfishing 4 ай бұрын
I use braided line exclusively 65lb, I like to keep the setup simple, no additional leaders, some use mono CXX leaders for an extra edge, I honestly don't ever notice enough difference to warrant the extra work to attach a mono leader but, these aggressive stripers are not line shy one bit, so braided line into a snap adequate to handle 20-30lb fish than straight to the diving lure with its default O-Ring, that's it, no extras, no weights, nothing, my boat is bigger and noisier so I set back lines150-160 Feet to get me down close to 15 feet reaching the strike zones, as far as speed, the golden rule when going with the current is GPS 4-5Mph give or take, going against the current 1-3 Mph give or take all while feeling your lures, if you get a solid wiggle that matters more because conditions are dynamic so adjust accordingly, holding the rods and feeling the vibration will help. If you go too fast in either direction, you risk the lure tracking sideways or erractic leading only to line tangles so speed control is vital, hope that helps? Last thing, in the Spring you can Troll as fast as your lure is rated since the waters are warmer and the fish have no issues chasing down your lures, they can dart at 10-15Mph, it's crazy, but in the Fall and Winter you gotta Troll the usual 1-2Mph since they are lazy bastards in the colder waters

@24ksportfishing
@24ksportfishing 4 ай бұрын
I think so, but to be specific 5-1/4 Yo-Zuri Crystal 3D Minnow Deep Diver Jointed Lures, they work great and can get 13 to 15 feet deep google says: 130mm is 5.11811 inches, so I believe that's about right.

Awesome! Thanks for response and great video. I went out yesterday came up empty. Was first time on delta so was a lot of learning. Kinda jumped the gun and only went out with shallow divers and too large the 170mm. I’ll be more prepared next time. Trying to do my homework.Water temp is still down at 55 on San Joaquin. Thanks again!
