It’s so refreshing to hear some positive feedback on TRON! TRON is easily my favorite ride at Walt Disney World right now, and as a TRON apologist myself this coaster checks all my boxes. From the elaborate lighting, to the bumpin’ soundtrack, and the coaster’s thrill and immersion factor I am always satisfied after a ride through The Grid. One of Disney’s best feats of Imagineering thus far!

One of the things I missed about yearly Disney trips that I didn't really notice till I seen the beginning of this video was that anticipation in the motel room. I used to stay at this Tropicana Inn on Harbour Blvd nearly right across the entrance. Used to stay on the balcony at dusk/night time and just soak it in. Thanks for your videos. It's been almost 10 years since I've been to Disneyland. I miss that magic.

Yup, when the 1 minute 1 second intro of this video is longer than the actual "thrill" part of the "thrill ride", feels bad man. I can only imagine when the virtual queue part ends of this ride and having a 2 hour wait only to only be on the ride for 2 minutes more than half of that is the slow leaving/returning to the station... ouch.

I rode it 3 times on my recent trip and it was incredible, didn't notice that it was short because we had so much fun putting our hands up. My only complaint was that I wanted a bigger drop (because drop rides are my favorite).

Hopefully some day Disney decides to make the Western River Expedition. Some day we will be travelling through thunder mesa in our boats enjoying the beautiful scenery of the land.
@STSGuitar16
@STSGuitar16 Жыл бұрын
I really wish they would make a ride like that, but unfortunately that will never happen unless there were some HUGE changes to the way Disney currently operates in regard to its parks and building new attractions. The only possible way that a Western River Expedition ride would ever be made these days is if a Western River Expedition live-action movie starring The Rock was made first. And even then, that ride would likely just be a cheap, projection screen-filled mess that totally misses the mark on what it could have been. Disney just doesn't build new, original concept rides anymore, and they have all but given up on using any creative stories for new attractions coming from the imagineers themselves. Gone are the days of attractions with no direct movie tie-ins. No Haunted Mansions. No Pirates of the Caribbeans. No Big Thunders or Space Mountains. None of that. Every single attraction must now be tied to some already-existing Disney movie IP, and that is a complete shame. I would love more than anything to be able to see Disney imagineering allowed to do their jobs and give us spectacular original rides again. I can't even recall what ride at the parks is the most recent original concept ride that came directly from Imagineering, but pretty much every single new attraction these days simply MUST have a movie tie-in, no matter the quality of the movie. I would truly love to see a full on, 100% innovative and perfectly original Western River Expedition ride be made at the parks, but realistically that will never happen, unfortunately.

I rode it a few times during cast previews as the guest of a CM. As a coaster, it’s much more “fun” than it is “thrilling,” but there’s nothing wrong with that, since that makes it more appealing to the average guest who may not want to ride a monster coaster. It’s pretty short, but that’s not really unusual for coasters, especially launch coasters, so I don’t see a big issue there. The theming is fantastic, and the lighting at night is amazing. It’s a great addition to Tomorrowland, and MK as a whole.

Airtime Thrills' "By The Numbers" videos are good for perspective on ride lengths--he figures out how long the "prime ride time" on roller coasters is by removing the time spent going up lift hills and waiting on brakes. It's not uncommon for this to be under a minute on even some very large coasters. Of course, Disney is a bit special in that even their lift hills will be dressed up to function as a kind of dark-ride attraction, which means that just by being a launch coaster, this one cuts out some of that. But I think many Disney fans are comparing this to dark rides, which are inherently a much longer experience... and to the Guardians coaster, which is literally the longest indoor coaster ever built.

The look on your face as you were walking up to your first ride and you heard the Magic Kingdom's train whistle for the first time in years is what pure, natural, inward joy looks like. You are correct, however, in that TRON is better than Guardians. mostly because I'm not sick for an hour after riding it, but similar to you, I've been wanting to ride a lightcycle since 1982 and could have powered the ride by the wattage of my smile.

We were there beginning of May and we were able to ride it 3 times over the course of our stay. I was really excited that they have the regular seats in the back because it gave my 10 year old daughter the courage to ride it. She tried out the test bike outside the ride and it made her nervous with how it locked you in. When we said she could sit in a regular seat, she was super excited to go. I agree on the length being a little disappointing but as you said, the whole ride experience is amazing.

Big Tron fan too, though I grew up on the 1.0 movie. I rode it a couple weeks ago and it was pretty amazing. Definitely agree that it’s too short, but everything else makes up for it. After the launch, everything stays dark and colorful outside, meshing a bit better with the indoor portion.

Regarding Cosmic Rewind: I also love coasters but I bet I'd have the same problem which is moving sideways fast when your eyes do not have something stationary to focus on. It causes your eye muscles to go into overdrive and if it goes on for a while it causes a very unpleasant queasiness. I can't look out the side car window at close trees whipping past for very long. Closing your eyes can help, or hold out your hand and focus on your finger. A small post it or sticker on the side window of a car for your eye to land on can also prevent this.
