All his Switch repairs are above 100$, there's professional companies in my country that do them for like half the price or way less and change a lot the prices depending on what it needs and they also give warranty... And for example the PS4 Pro Hard Drive repair costs 129$ for the 1 TB HDD, that's literally a user replacement part and takes like 2 minutes to put a new one inside and for 129$ you can just buy a 1TB SSD instead of a crap HDD... ps: But anyway its his prices and he can put them at how much he wants, who agree buy his services and who doesn't go somewhere else...

what is up with that video chip? so many broken switches due to it... design flaw it seems or planned obsolescence maybe
@guily66695 жыл бұрын
I think there can only be something wrong... And its usually 2 chips that die the video chip or the charging chip if I remember well... Also while indeed some where killed by 3rd party docks or chargers, lot of ppl in forums claimed to only have used original charger\dock and got a problem on one of them... There's also the other common problems of Switch's bending and some to the point where the touch screen even starts to come out probably due to heat when its docked in that closed crap dock with almost no space in-between...
@ReaperUnreal5 жыл бұрын
@cedric1997 While that's true, you'd think they would put in some fuses, diodes, etc, instead of having to replace an entire chip.
@OldMan_PJ5 жыл бұрын
The problem isn't just with 3rd party docks, if you take the official power cord from the official dock and quickly unplug it from the dock then plug it directly into the Switch it will kill the Switch as well. It's a problem with the power supply trying to send more power directly into the Switch than it can handle. I've seen the same problem with some Lenovo laptops switching between power supplies and docks.

Just out of curiosity, how many hours was dedicated to this fix, just wondering what you would have been paid per hour for this venture.

That doesn't seem like a good return on investment, given your time, which would have been nice to see. Time needs to include time spent buying and selling. and ROI needs to include shipping and handling expenses well.

You forget few things: Profit from sales of hardware, revenue from youtube ad's, revenue from Amazon affiliates, revenue from merchandise in store. You should not worry about other people's ROI. He got this covered.

Probably took him about 20 hours total for $800. 10m for ordering and recieving, 25m for repairing, 5 m testing. 10m for sending, 10m for being distracted, breaks. Not a bad deal, 40$ per hour if you ask me.
@krschimmel5 жыл бұрын
@@ErageFTWin 10 minutes for sending each one of 20, but I will say only 5 minutes if he batched them, and at least 30min for ordering, so that would be extra 2 hours. Still $36/hr which as it looks like this is also his day job, is good filler work.

I'm not here to learn how to fix nintendo switches or XBOXes or PS4s tbh. I'm just here to root for the guy. Every time something works I'm like WOOHOO PROFIIIIIT! And those editing moments with the unscrewing in 2:00 or the easter egg with his wife on the prev video. It's really cool! Good job man :D

Aren't you impressed by his component handling and soldering skills? I once decided to turn a purely battery operated device into also using usb for power, but then at the parts store I looked at a micro-usb port component, which was hardly bigger than a grain of rice. I thought I'll rather go with the good old bulky usb-b.

$50 profit per device... minus ebay selling fees, your wage, electricity, taxes, tools, I reckon after all things taken into account he might be making $25 to $30 profit per item. Hardly a great rate for all that effort. Fine for a hobby, lousy as a business proposition.

Steve, I must be odd but I watched all 3 video's and was still interested, OK I'm an apprentice fixer of older years but what was great about this was I learnt about a few new tools (heat mat and the charge indicator) as well as the fancy but slightly expensive screwdriver. So great vid's, really interesting and well judged about just how many times to repeat showing a repair stage....Subscribed...

At 22:10 with number 18, it looks like a crack along the digitizer... is it just a hairstraw? If not, you may wanna test the touch feature of that one. EDIT: Corrected number from 17 to 18... you said number 18 on two of them, and that confused me.
