It is a bit of a relief to see that even such an amazing artist like you has to go trough such normal problems which everybody knows. Your painting turned out beautiful! 😊

Well said! I think its far more helpful to see the pickle a seasoned artist can get into, than to watch an edited version where the trials and challenges have been removed. Whats the fun in that 😂. Thank you, i'm pleased with the finished painting too. But as any artist will tell 'there's room for improvement'. Happy painting 😃😃

I just can’t stop watching you paint this remarkable setting. Can’t wait to give it a go. But, just like all of your tutorials, I’ll have to look at it about half dozen times just to get the gist and another half dozen to try and paint along. I’ve chosen this one for my first attempt at oil painting.

Hi Robin - exercising your memory muscle is vital. I learned so much just watching endless Bob videos. Eventually it became an automatic response that allowed me to think more about the painting and less about the mechanical aspect. Enjoy the journey and don't be surprised if it ends in a different place to mine! Happy Painting - Paul 😃😎

Paul, I always appreciate your honesty. And a second and third pass is often a great idea. I try to take things to completion, even when I'm at the despair point. Figure if nothing else, it's important practice.

Great tip! I used to pull up early when a painting started to go wrong. Later I too descoved the value in continuing if only to work out what went wrong and the way to fix it. Now when a painting gets in a pickle I can spot the pending mistake ahead of time and start formulating the repair as I go. It makes painting a whole lot more fun. Happy Painting - Paul 😃😎

One thing I forgot to buy was Turpinoid or mineral spirits to clean between colors. I know that you use water based paints, which I wasn’t aware of before purchasing the oil paints. But I’m having a blast waiting for products by re-watching your tutorials. Thanks again Paul for all of the inspiration you’ve given me.

Hi Robin - I actually use Bob Ross oils which are not water mixable. So you will need some odourless thinners for oil paints. Water mixable oils can be washed away with soap and water. BTW, I rarely wash my brushes between colours. It causes all sorts of issues - a damp brush can ruin a painting in a heart beat! If I do need to wash brush I usually have a second dry brush to take its place. Hope your first venture goes well. We'll have a peek at it later no doubt! best wishes Paul 😃😃😎😎

Well thats so nice to hear your getting going with your art. Just remember I'm still a beginner somedays so were on the same path. I might be just a little further along. Also I use oils which work very differently to acrylics. You'll have to adapt my technique and make your own style as you go. But its all possible - just keep having fun. 😃

Well, what have I learned today? The reason why you assemble the paints on the pallet the way you do. Done properly, one can skip cross contamination of colors. Does that sound about right? I’ve nearly completed my first oil painting and to be perfectly honest, it’s amazing! All thanks to your excellent tutorials Paul. Reaching for the coffee pot! 😂

That's great news 😄 No need for the coffee top up. It's enough to know you're pleased with the painting 😅 And yes the paints are set out to reduce the chance of a pickle 😊 p.s. The Yt grab takes about 40% so please spend your hard earned on new supplies😅

Paul, I am so inspired by your videos. I love your style of painting. The painting looks very difficult but you make it simple with your step-by-step explanation and demonstration. Please keep producing your lovely videos. As another person stated previously, your paintings are realistic with a bit of magic in them. (P.S. Is a biro a pen?)

Hey Paul love your videos so thank you! I have a question. After you took a break and came back, did you put anything on your canvas? Or did you paint right over the dry paint?
@PaulRansonArt
@PaulRansonArt 10 ай бұрын
Hi Brad- great question. I painted the last section on a dry ( or drying ) canvas. As I didn't need to blend the paint it was easy to apply the underpaint as I would usually. TBH, most of my paintings are filmed over two or more days. I just make sure I do the stages that involve blending. Like skies or reflections etc. Hope this helps 😃😎
