How to Repair a DEAD Computer?
In this video I will show you how to troubleshoot a No POST Issue on a computer. Sometimes the computer could be dead or computer turns on but no display on monitor. @@naturalst7532 I think I may have a solution for you, try plugging in the hdmi into a gpu hdmi plug in.(Make sure that the switch is off in the power supply). Once you turn it back on, hold the reset button for 5 seconds.

*ALWAYS CHECK IF YOU HAVE PUT YOUR VIDEO CABLE (HDMI, DP or other) IN GPU!* The cable has to go to GPU. This got me good twice in my life.

Just had this problem on a new PC build MSI MAG Bazooka b550 Mobo Ryzen 5 5600G No HDMI or Display port would display Did the CMOS thing and reinstalled drivers from MSI directly The only way I can get a display is to use an HDMI to VGA adapter. But once in a while HDMI will display. even if I turn it on and off. The next day there was no display???? WTF So I call MSI MoBo support of course it is my monitor or HDMI cable. Until I tell him that on my workbench I have three monitors with three different HDMI cables and DVI and Display port. So now we get down to talking process of elimination. And we agree that if I have done all the right things for the MoBo then it has to be the processor or I am shorting out on the case. I decide that before I take everything apart I will check with AMD Went to AMD support and redownloaded the chipset. Guess what? Everything is now working. Conclusion: 1) Chipset didn't download or install properly 2) MSI's Driver page is faulty 3) I don't know what I am doing Conclusion 2: 1) After going to the MoBo drivers and BIOS updates, go to the Driver page of the CPU and double check that everything is installed as it should be. What a lesson, Glad I am finished.

@@Britec09 yeah thats what I kept hearing.... but 2 times in 3 years is odd... Gigabyte stress tested my mobo for almost a week with multiple configs and it proved fine both times.... My system ran flawless for almost 24 hours a day then one day I reboot and nothing.... swapped most items out and ran again flawless until I rebooted once again.... just never came back up.... Now I am on Proc #3, PSU #2, ram #2, case front #2 (In case USB caused shorts), mobo #2 (even though original was good I still asked for a replacement and that one was tested), Only thing I never swapped because I couldnt afford to is my GPU....

yeah, lets all basicly unplug and replug everything >:( most common problem is prob the bios of the motherboard and there is nothing to do if that is the case but to get it hooked up with hardware that fits the bios firmware then install the right update for the bios for the hardware you wanna use and that should solve the problem..... except that is a freaking hastle huff in it self. best bet, don't go cheap when building a PC and make sure all parts fit each other

@@Lennyy5 update: it looks like my display port cable has a problem. i used my dvi to hdmi cable and it worked! At the begining I didnt think that the problem was my cable because of the keyboard leds not lighting up. but for some reason when i use my display port cable those lights dont work. I ordered new display port cables now.(i dont want to use that hdmi to dvi cable bc when i use them i cant use my highest refreshrate on my monitor )

After replacing the motherboard, my PC worked fine - the fans were spinning like it should, and everything looked and was heard alright in the case - except it didn't give any signal to the monitor. However, it turned out that the problem had to do with RAM sticks not properly connected into the motherboard. Make sure they're pushed in well and carefully

I have everything set in correctly and plugged in with my first build. Getting the lights of life and fans running but no display, even with changing the cord from HDMI to VGA. The monitor used is often connected to a work laptop by HDMI, so I know it works on that port at least. I changed the slots for my RAM cards and no change in activity. I'm not sure what may be wrong with it and I don't have spare parts to try with it.

I feel your pain. Just built a PC today, made the mistake of not testing beforehand and it won´t post. Done all the checks, no loose cables, cleared CMOS as I had to update BIOS for new Ryzen CPU. Powers on, fans spin and light up but that´s it. Power button doesn´t turn PC off so I´m thinking PSU or Mobo.

@@cynthiaandoh9575 Yes I did but I can't say for certain what the problem was. I took it all apart and assembled it again outside of the case with the motherboard sitting on the motherboard box. I tried to post without the graphics card as I'd read that it should post without it if only to indicate that it can't recognise the graphics card but again I didn't get a single beep. With the graphics card installed it posted and after reinstalling everything back into the case, it worked fine. I did have an issue with one motherboard standoff where the screw refused to screw into it. With the standoff and the screw in my hand they would happily fit together but with the motherboard between them, they refused to screw together. I resorted to screwing them to the motherboard whilst holding the motherboard and then screwing the standoff to the case when installing the motherboard to the case ... If you know what I mean? Anyway, I can't say for sure that the standoff was the problem as I thought I had secured it the first time but I definitely made a secure connection the second time and this time it posted and everything went smoothly after that. It may not be your problem but I'd double check that the standoffs are all tightly connected to the case and when the motherboard is installed, all the screws are all tightly screwed to the motherboard. Good luck!

@@wackofalltrades Don't know if you still need help, but if you remove that little battery you have on your motherboard for a couple minutes, that resets CMOS and that should remove all overclocking settings you had.

Appreciate the video. I double checked my cables and sure enough, I had plugged my HDMI cable to the motherboards HDMI port and not the Graphic card's HDMI port as I should have done. Double checking the cables seems like idiot's work, but it actually worked, so thank you, Ravi Peiris M.D.

Just wanted to thank you for showing the cables behind the tower. I have not put the cable in behind the graphics card. No other video shows the placement ( I thought it went in the top monitor area) being totally new at pc - my first build. Oh and the front panel switches are a pain in the aspect. Clearing the CMOS - remove the battery and wait a few minutes to put it back in. Now the system runs woohoo. Waiting on 2 x 4 GB Corsair Vengance DDR3 Ram cards before I finish the build. Brilliant video btw.

Guys I know how to fix it. If reseating the ram doesn't work use a screwdriver, make sure the power supply is still plugged in but turn the switch off, press the power button a few times to make sure its off. Hold the screwdriver on the 2 pins sticking out where it says CMOS on the motherboard usually on the lower right or left for 15 seconds then try to turn it back on. I was getting a boot loop for 5 hours tried literally everything re-seating ram, everything.... and this is the only thing that worked.

There is always the possibility that your brand new parts are faulty. In my case the brand new motherboard was defect and the cause.

Thank you so much! My pc stopped showing image. It did turn on but it did not POST. all fans(gpu and case) were at full speed non stop. I tried to get image from cpu with no luck and considered replacing the motherboard. But reseating the RAM and unplugging and plug in back all cables made it work again.

I went through 7 , yes 7 GPU cards before I got one that worked . RX 490 from AMD was the culprit and I also went through 3 motherboards, also AMD before I got a computer that worked the way it should from a new build in 2018 . Very frustrating to say the least as the quality of new hardware is just garbage across the board . I am very leery to even try to do another build after this last one .

Might be that watts on your motherboard is there 6 pin plug slot in your gpu, if there is get a plug from the power supply and try that

So... I'm building my first PC. I got everything installed. Everything fits like a glove. All components and cables are seated correctly. Power turns on. Fans spin. Light on the motherboard is lit up. LEDs on the front panel are lit up. My keyboard and mouse are also both lit up. But... There is still no display. Like I said, I'm new to this. First PC build. Yada yada... Idk what to do. I have it connected to two seperate video sources in hopes that one will work. One is via HDMI to my TV and one is via the (white ended) cable for a monitor.

My PC doesn't show display with you but works without gpu. when I turn it on with gpu the monitor keeps saying no signal.when I try to open bios it shuts down and then turns on again but doesn't show the display. But it works completely fine without gpu. I know it sounds like it is a dead gpu but no. Some times I managed to turn on PC with gpu after attempting like 4 hours out of dump luck and gpu works fine but when I shut it down or restart it goes back to no showing display sign. I tried every thing. 1. Cleaned and reseated the ram. 2. Reset bios. 3. Cleaned motherboard. 4. Changed 3v battery. 5. Unplugged all peripherals and HDD just to give maximum power to motherboard and gpu. 6. Motherboard is also fine because it has worked some times with gpu as I mentioned. 7. Checked all HDMI cables. 8. Both monitors works fine. It is kinda like a glitch of motherboard. It works completely fine but doesn't show display with gpu installed. And all components are completely fine. I used this PC for 2 years and had no problem with it and 2 days ago it doesn't work. How??? What happened??... I don't have money to buy another PC or graphics card. My spec's: CPU i5 3570 Gpu GT 1030 2gb ddr4 Ram 8gb 3 HDD PSU 320watt Motherboard HP prebuilt PC HP 6300 pro tower. Sorry for my bad English.

Hi, I left my computer for hours, woke up and my computer shut down by itself. It can't boot post now and my motherboard is not showing any debug lights or beep. Recently my pc just stopped working. I changed my ghapric card but have no idea if my old card is even working. I have no spare ram to test if the ram is the issue

My pc powers on, fan and led lights are working but no display, I troubleshooted my ram, tried another psu and tried reseting the mobo using the cmos battery, but it still did not work. After I gave up troubleshooting and was ready to send it to a technician to fix it. I placed the tempered glass back to my case, and tried to power it one more time to see it it will work and it did. What do you guys think the problem is? I was actually not satisfied that my pc is now working because I did not know what the problem was, and if it happens again I do not know how to fix it.

Help :( So I was following this, so after pressing confirm (my USB had windows installed), it was just a black screen and left it for 1 hr. I'm not even able to turn on the bios (I have MSI Pro 650 P) I smashed f1,2, etc and delete. I thought that were was something wrong so I turned it off. Now I have a red and orange light that turned on. smh what should I do?

Hi I'm having trouble with my pc it turns out that I turn on my pc and no display, not rebooting, its just turned on nothing else. I tried reseating cards and still not working. Mousr and keboard too not working too.

So im at a loss. I just built my first pc. It turns on, all fans work all the lights are working (gpu, fans, and motherboard). But my monitor says no signal detected. Ive triple checked all my wires and connections. Ive reseated literally every piece besides the motherboard. Motherboard is on the stands screwed to the case, no problem there that i can tell. My ez led lights up on gpu, cpu, ram and then turns off. Boot light stays on continuosly though. Im not sure if bios is popping up, cause i cant get anything to display. No compatibility issues as far as i can tell either. If anybody sees this id love some help.

In my case, each time I turned off the power to the PSU, I need to install a different graphic card into the PC to make it POST, then installed the one that failed to POST back into the PC and it would work fine. So I need to repeat this by each time the power is out in my house!

Not Lazy if you do not pre-assemble, as people building 100 PC's and spending one hour building them up outside the cabinet then reassembling them would waste one hundred hours where a person who comes across one bad component every 10 PC's would only waste 10 hours replacing that component. I hate to think how much time is wasted by your shop pre-building PC's before final assembly!

HP I5 desktop. No post. Tried power supply, hard drive, memory, cmos and battery, dvd. All devices spin up but no post. Light on mother board is on. Even tried using hdmi cable. It worked fine until it went into sleep mode and would not recover.

I went through all of these steps and even flashed the BIOS to the newest version and it still won't post. The only thing I've landed on is the RAM is not on my mobo manufacturers compatibility list, so hopefully that's my issue. This is a good vid for newer builders to watch!

Yes I did and it's funny bc I never thought of this at all! The problem was the actual HDMI cable I was using came with the Xbox 1, and I swapped cables and it posted right up and I was so pissed but relieved at the same time. I would had used a DP cable if I had a monitor that high end but for now I have to use my TV and that was the issue. I hope this helps.

My PC randomly powered down on me few weeks ago, replaced the power supply, as to me that was the most obvious issue, that didn't fix it, replaced the mb, CPU, and ram still will not boot, is it possible my case itself is the issue? And no the mb I have doesn't have an on board switch to power on

The first thing I check is to make sure the RAM is fully seated onto the motherboard ... that's a mistake I've made a couple of times.

All of the post lights are off, the pc turns on but it isn’t displaying anything and no the display cable is not in the motherboard

I was playing games then my pc FPS went to like 30 from 300 and everything was loading slowly, so I reapplied thermal paste on the CPU and when I put it back together I got no signal😭

Hello, if you build a new pc for first time and if you use ryzen cpu this is for you. A Ryzen processor without the suffix 'G' (in model number) needs a Graphics card (GPU) and you can't output it to screen without one. So for a normal user you'll definitely need a Graphics card not only for BIOS update but for using it too. Ryzen processors* (as mentioned above)comes without integrated graphics card which is needed to display to the monitor.

Thanks so much. I had everything connected perfectly, all connections snug and... no post. 2300 usd in components and I thought it was all about to end in failure. Got near the end of this video and on a hunch decided to tinker with the RAM a bit. They were in the correct slots (Dimma2, and Dimmb2), firmly and completely seated, but I swapped one stick for the other (still using those same two slots) and wham, booted right up!

that could be an issue with your OS not booting. if you have windows there are tutorials to help you get it started

I was doing great , but I have to admit I totally fucked up... I thought I had a extra fan 3 pin for a extra front case fan and plugged it into my msi CMOS. I can believe it. Everything was running so well before this, and it still starts perfectly, just no post on monitor or keyboard LEDs, mouse, etc. I think I ruined my board over the dumbest mistake
