In this video, we share how we solved our mobile office needs in our truck camper. The NuCamp Cirrus 920 Truck Camper came with a standard dinette which is perfect for camping and eating. However, since we are full-time RVers and live in our truck camper, we decided to remodel our dinette to allow us to work more comfortably on the road. Now we each have our own desk and still have use of the center table for paperwork, projects and meals.
This remodel was done while living on the road. We were at a campground and made use of their picnic table and the basic tools that we carry with us all the time. The end result isn't fancy, but it works!

You two are very creative and talented in your own ways. I enjoy watching your vlogs and am at times very impressed by your ability to create and adapt based on your needs and environment. The modification to your office/dinette to a proper office while incorporating your dining into the mobile office was very clever. Bravo you two! Sasha, my grandfather was from St. Petersburg too. Thanks again

Thank you so much for your kind words! This lifestyle can be very stressful and it took us awhile to adapt and work as a team. And Scott is very handy! Our dinette was great, but it didn’t suit our needs as full-timers. This new office has been working great. I’m so glad Scott was able to build it! And that’s amazing, what a small world! Saint Petersburg is a beautiful city.

I first saw you guys on 'story chasing' channel and found your youtube channel. I'm presently gearing up to transition to living in a truck camper full time and often thought, since I'd mostly be travelling alone, that the booth dinette setup in campers was really impractical for me and wondered about setting up a work space instead. Haven't watched the rest of the video yet but the work station setup up is great...and even incorporating the chairs to also provide more storage space is kind of genius...thanks so much guys; that was so helpful!!...Look forward to watching more of your vids 😉👍

The new office setup (which I'm using right now), has been a game changer for us. It allowed us to make better use of such limited space. We have easier access to our commonly used items, we each have our own space to work and sliding the table out for meals has become one of our favorite features. I have some updates and changes coming in the next few weeks. They will solve some small issues we have encountered. Thanks for following along and leaving such awesome comments!

I know this is an older video - on your table height and stability... have you considered a table on a piano hinge off the desk with a fold down monoleg? That way it would be the same height as the desk and supported. You could use the same table - all you need is a few dollar hinge and a 1x2
@Stonyboot
@Stonyboot 2 жыл бұрын
I did consider it. Similar to what you suggest. However, we wanted to make use of the stubby table while working and to maintain access to our shelving without having to raise the table. It was my first design, but I went with the slides after a great deal of thinking. So far, it’s held up well. The rails are getting a little loose and I’ll replace them soon.

@@Stonyboot I've been looking at truck campers for about 30 years. I have only recently been able to get a truck heavy enough to carry one, so until my truck is road worthy, I won't be making any kind of purchase. The truck that I got is a 97 Ford F350, so I cam pretty much get nearly any camper that is available. So far, all that is certain is that I probably won't be paying any more than $2,500 for it. I need to have the camper on the truck before September 23, 2023

People used to put the bike racks on the front of their truck. Probably because they were pulling a trailer. My dad even put his spare tire on the front of the truck cuz he had nowhere else to put it on the truck.

I do have the option, however... It blocks my headlights and visibility, and it also beats up the bike covers. I wish I could just fold the bikes up and put them in the glove box.

And just watched the rest of the video!...the time lapse was brilliant...was spellbound by the entire thing. It was fascinating and a delight to watch, and especially loved the sped up instances where Scott is sitting there musing as to what steps to take next and how to proceed going forward...Also, was still torn as to whether I'm going to go with a smaller Class B motorhome or a truck camper. Even though I'm not (yet) all that good at it, I love and really look forward to learning how to do more DIY things and watching Scott using the pick up bed as a work area?...that settled it for me! :)...Thanks again, Scott and Sasha! 😊😘👍

Thank you for viewing and sticking around for the Time Lapse. I recorded all of it, but I had no idea how to really use it in the video. I figured put it at the end and if someone wants to watch it, great! It started as a pretty simple project and quickly evolved, those moments of sitting and pondering my options were the times where the project grew. I cut most of my musings out, but left a few for people like you!
@ppineault
@ppineault 4 жыл бұрын
Stonyboot LOL… Honestly, the musings were some of the best parts and it’s too bad that you didn’t leave more of them in! :-)… I often say to people (and a lot of guys tend to be the worst at overestimating their abilities) that any project that you do endeavour to go forward with, be prepared that it’s going to take at least two if not three times as long as you originally estimated! :-) Honest though, it’s great that you included it all in the video, Because it’s so helpful to other people who might have the same project in mind and gives them lots of ideas :-)

Did NuCamp stop building the 920? Seems like a perfect size for a couple or a single traveler. I love your conversion! It really made a great multi purpose area. I'm surprised you didn't do the majority of the work with your Leatherman LOL!!!!! They are a great "do all" I checked the prices on them.......holy smoke!!!!! But I guess if you added the prices of the tools it can replace........it's a bargain! ;)

They 920 is on hold, they will build more when they get caught up with the 820 and 620 demand. I love my Leatherman, but I dread the day I have to replace it. I lost my old one about a year ago and had to fork over $138 for a new one. But, I'd do it again in a heartbeat. People ask that question, "if you were stranded on a desert island and could only have one thing, what would it be?" .... Answer :My Leatherman"

@Stonyboot

The project took about a month and I never really knew where it was going to lead. I decided to record all the steps and figure out how to tell the story later. I had about 5 hours of 5x time lapse, so that’s 25 hours of recording. We skipped many of the trips to the stores like Walmart, target, Home Depot, Lowe’s, Marshall’s, etc. It took me about 6-7 hours to just trim all the time lapse down to useable clips. It was quite a project, but I didn’t want to just throw the footage away. I sped the time lapse up a lot. I wanted to show how it was built without actually trying to provide step by step instructions since I don’t think too many people are going to try to copy this. Just providing some ideas 💡 The actual project is about equal with making the video. Lots of time and learning for both!!! Thanks for the comment!
