This is one of the best videos so far. Please don’t stop making them. Could you make one where if we decided to go directly to the Shipper instead of the Broker. How would we communicate or get the conversation started with them?
@AlfaXLogistics2 жыл бұрын
Going to the shipper directly as a dispatcher will be problematic, unless you are exclusively working with one motor carrier and act as their representative. If you intend to target shippers directly you should get a freight broker license. We discuss this question a little bit more in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/lZ3ag6CfmrWlhq8

I was a freight solicitor, dispatcher, broker, and more in the 1980's. One good question, if you quote a trucker a rate and they want to know if it's negotiable, tell them, yes, you could pay them less if that rate is too much money!...and we did it all over the phone, no email, no cell phones, no texts, no computers (other than a pencil and paper)

It is interesting to see how far the industry has come, from fax machines and landlines to online load boards and apps! Now some brokers prefer email only communication.

@@AlfaXLogistics wish we had that "back in the day", we had to give the driver an exact time to check call back with us, and we had no way to communicate other than waiting. Amazing how far it came.

Does the dispatcher use their own email to receive the broker setup packet? Can you as dispatcher sign on behalf of carrier?
@AlfaXLogistics3 жыл бұрын
Yes Joe, typically dispatcher uses their own email to receive broker-carrier packets. Yes, dispatcher can sign on behalf of a carrier with a written permission of such carrier (which is usually outlined in Dispatch Service Agreement).
@chocolatebutterfly92952 жыл бұрын
@@AlfaXLogistics Great question!! So if the packet has a part that asks the carrier to sign it’s signature, I, the Dispatcher will sign my name or the driver/carrier name?
@AlfaXLogistics2 жыл бұрын
@@chocolatebutterfly9295 Yes, you can sign those yourself as long as you have a written permission from your client to sign Broker-Carrier agreements on their behalf.

Are you able to do a rejected, canceled load, etc, just a problem scenario a dispatcher will run into? Thank you and this video was very helpful!

Yes Natanya, we believe we have a few conversations in our course where load does not get booked. We will try to post one of those on KZbin as well. Thank you for your suggestion!

Where is pick up, where is delivery, zipcodes, what's the total milage with deadhead, who's a shipper, who's the receiver? Did I miss something?
@AlfaXLogistics3 жыл бұрын
Pick up and delivery information is listed on on the load board along with empty and loaded miles. Shipper and receiver information will be indicated on a rate confirmation.
@chocolatebutterfly92952 жыл бұрын
@@AlfaXLogistics On the load board Would the pickup be the Origin and the delivery be the destination? Also isn’t the Shipper located at the Origin and the Receiver located at the destination?

What does it mean when the Broker ask you if your driver can scale a certain amount of pounds? Is that the same as them asking if your driver will accept a certain amount of pounds?
@AlfaXLogistics2 жыл бұрын
Broker wants to make sure that truck picking up the commodity has the capacity to transport given weight without going over the legal limit.

What if I was dispatching trucks in USA from overseas. Do you have any solutions for phone calls it can be very costly. I want to take your course and career shift to dispatching
@AlfaXLogistics3 жыл бұрын
Mustafa, to make and receive calls in the US you will need a US-based phone number. You can purchase one from Skype or many other VOIP providers. We hope this helps!

@@AlfaXLogistics thank you for your prompt response. This is a good place to start I’ll look into it. Also Can you please tell me if a fax is necessary to set up a dispatching business
@AlfaXLogistics3 жыл бұрын
@@mustafaibrahim6157 In most cases you will not need a fax. But if you manage a lot of trucks you may get one just in case. There are many options for eFax providers, which will get you a dedicated line very inexpensively.

A client is the owner of the trucking company. It can be a driver, but it doesn't have to be.
