Q:What camera do you use?
A: I use the Go Pro Hero 7 Black Edition primarily. Often times you will see auxillary cameras in use. Those cameras include The Go Pro Hero 6, Hero, and DJI Mavic Pro Platinum
Q: How big Is your rotator?
A: It is a 50 ton Miller Industries Vulcan 950
Q: Does the carriage slide back like Ron Pratt's?
A: No, the carriage doesn't slide back due to strict weight laws in California. The sliding carriage will make the truck to heavy in CA
Q: Why do you only have 3 winches on the rotator?
A: Comes down to weight again as stated above
Q: How many trucks Does Plaza Towing have?
A: Currently more than 30
Q: Why must the driveshaft be removed to tow a vehicle?
A: When vehicles are not running the transmission is not receiving circulating lubricant. If the driveshaft is left installed, the transmission, which is not receiving lubricant, is still spinning. This allows it to get very hot which eventually will cause major damage to the transmission. Therefore, removing the driveshaft completely eliminates the transmission from spinning. Simply leaving it in neutral is not sufficient since the transmission still spins in neutral.

Beautiful piece of million dollar tech, From the low tech side of things back in the 80s I used to do the same task with A Holmes 850 with the booms split and out riggers out and the booms hand cranked over center. Same task different time. Stay safe out on the road thanks for sharing.

I have to give the Army props. All our truck with air brakes had glad hands and electrical on the front. Recovery was much faster than what these guys have to go through.

I am fairly certain I saw one of your trucks assisting a tractor trailer earlier today roughly 20 miles west of Chiralco Summit. Coincidentally I found your channel last night, I watched the video of your towing the red bobtail off the 10 in about the same area. I admire your professionalism and though I’m going back into the shop soon, if I happen to break down beforehand, I will definitely call you guys first.

I have ones of my trucks in arkansas and need to bring it home. This is the same process I’m going to have to do. The saddle to lay the truck on cost 900-1300$ depending on who makes it. What does it cost to lift it in place?

Pivot pin for the pad and if I'm not mistaken the pin locks into a hole in a bracket plate under there to hold the arms if the hydraulics fail and reduce wear on them from bouncing while going down the road.
@joshcbuck7197
@joshcbuck7197 5 жыл бұрын
Earl Ribaudo the pin on the rear stabilizer is for two things, first thing is to hold foot on, which you can turn and make it into a spade, secondly when it is retracted in it doesn't allow the leg to come out spontaneously shall we say. Just like how the boom has a big center pin to not allow it to turn when your driving it.
@WestCoastChris138
@WestCoastChris138 5 жыл бұрын
Hey Trent, question, how come you guys are always putting those pins through the rear stabilizer's when moving them in and out but not having to do it for the front stabilizers?

Is a Class B license required for the rotator since it’s not a combination unit? Or a Class A since it effectively becomes a combination unit if a vehicle is in tow? Always been curious about this.
@plazatowing
@plazatowing 5 жыл бұрын
Class A due to the weight of the unit
@clittle580
@clittle580 5 жыл бұрын
Plaza Towing makes sense. I have a Class A and it allows me to tow any combination of vehicles 26001 and up. I assume California is the same way since those rules are usually made on the federal level. On my Oklahoma license, however, it says I can also operate all other classes legally. Plus I have a motorcycle endorsement so just about anything with wheels is legal for me.

That’s another way of doing it! I typically do that for freightliners but since the Volvo’s have eyelet style pins it would require a few extra pieces of rigging to work. Just depends how I’m feeling that day to be honest. Thank you for watching!
