"Maybe next time I'll drive through". You'll seriously hurt someone just because they slightly inconvenienced you? It's a speed limit, not a speed floor. The passing zone is also there so you can pass slower drivers. They have no obligation to speed for you.

It is illegal to break check any vehicle they do it to collect insurance money I say whatever happens to the drivers that break check they asked for it it's their fault a semi truck can't just stop like a car so maybe the next time they purposely break check they might not be so lucky I mean people who do that are begging to get hit and it's all their fault not the truck drivers they do it to collect insurance money they decided to gamble with their life just for money tells you a lot about the person

Robert Keeton . As a retired truck driver, I know what you mean. I find myself in the drivers seat in these videos, watching out for this and that, thinking what I would have done differently. If you can’t get over for the exit without braking get over for the next exit then come back to it. It’s not that hard so don’t be stupid. Avoid the conflict THEN prepare for the next move.

@Happy Days…..YES! I live in south Florida and these roads are very dangerous. I have driven here for so long that I just anticipate being cut off because you know it’s going happen. These drivers down here are so predictable. I get cut off at least 5 times per day but it doesn’t bother me because it’s normal down here. We have the speeders, the drunks, the over medicated……..we have it all down here. Oh, and just love when the elderly drivers stop in the middle of the road due to confusion and they just sit there.

I took Driver Training classes way back in 1974. I'm quite certain we were never taught that large vehicles take more time to stop than the small cars were were piloting. That information NEEDS to be commonly taught and reinforced. Videos like this provide that service, albeit too late for those involved.

Also taught us about light signals to let them know that they were clear to move over. My husband has reinforced that, and the my daughter with her father-in-law. My brother is now retired from driving a tour bus and then a school bus. He first drove a bus while he was stationed up in Alaska in all that snow they get. Driving a school bus in a small town in the Sacramento valley of California seems a bit easier without any snow. I and my family decided at the same time for me to stop driving when I started getting dizzy spells. We decided it was safer for everyone on the roads. After reviewing the first one, I came straight to the comments to see if anyone else noticed. I see you did. This driver is too aggressive. Having a CDL is something that should make you drive more defensively. This driver is more of an idiot than a regular car driving idiot because he has much more vehicle on the road. @@manitobadriver5984 Thank you for providing context. I'm still going to call out the fact that you are too aggressive. A professional driver scans the road ahead and has a heightened situational awareness. The fact that you maintained your speed in the passing lane in the first clip, knowing there was a slow vehicle up ahead tells me you lack one of those two professional qualities. As for the second clip, following too closely to "show them how slow they are going" is just completely unsafe and does not reflect the above mentioned professional qualities.

@@manitobadriver5984 The "showing how slow" was a reference to the second video where you appeared to be an unsafe distance from the car in front. I have driven those same types of roads in Alberta and Saskatchewan, they are long and monotonous. But they provide ample space for passing, because you can see 12 kilometers ahead of you. You could have hung back a little, waited for the only car coming the other way to get by and built some speed to pass with, there was no need to crowd that car like that. My point is, crowding another vehicle like that is aggressive. A professional driver is patient, but most of all, defensive. I am a fellow truck driver, I mean no offense. By law and by proper training, that is exactly what drivers are supposed to do...and not just trucks. By law when a vehicle is attempting to pass you, you are required to assist...this includes *GASP* pressing the brake pedal if necessary. I have to deal with idiotic FedEx drivers pulling out to pass me every day when their truck only goes maybe a quarter of a mile per hour faster than mine. If there's no one behind them I hold, but if someone approaches the rear I kill the cruise control for 5 seconds then resume to let them around without blicking the passing lane. Then I have to look at the FedEx truck for the next hour as he keeps doing the same thing to other trucks governed to his speed. That company's drivers are the worst Ive seen. Stubborn and bad at math. They might literally save themselves one minute at the end of the day, but they cost hundreds of other drivers several minutes each.

British car driver here. We're on the whole quite good at staying in the left lane (We drive on the left) except when overtaking. A couple of weeks ago I was driving on a busy dual carriageway, two lanes each direction. A truck in front of me pulled out to start to pass the truck in front of him. I swear it took him more than 10 minutes and meanwhile a huge queue built up. He was going 55 mph on a 70 mph speed limit. You could feel the swelling anger behind him. As I finally passed him I saw he was Spanish which might have accounted for it. Appalling and the sort of thing that gives HGV drivers a bad name and provokes bad driving in other people.

I'm not a trucker either, not even in the US. I'll try to explain anyway. Especially uphill, a truck basically cannot accelerate. If he slows down by even 1 mph, he's not getting that back until he reaches a bit where it's flat. If he has to do that more than once, he'll end up going 30 or less in the right lane and lose several minutes on a long hill. Doing that more than once might mean running out of hours before reaching the destination, or the destination being closed for the day and losing a whole night (especially annoying if he had several hours left on his clock for the day that he could have used more productively)

@@realulli This makes total sense and I get that 90,000 lbs. isn't easily powered uphill so in that case I get it. You have to maintain momentum. @@kevin34ct Not too mention about 2 feet forward of the driver's head as well. The idea behind mounting the 'primary' camera there is to get the best bird's eye view as possible from inside the cab to catch as many details of what is happening in front and possibly around the truck as possible. Now if the driver has multiple cameras they might set up one or two outside rear view, some downward side cameras looking out the driver/passenger windows, and finally a camera providing a more driver like detail view.
