Morning Dave, and other people, i've got a question, I am a new driver in the industry, in my second week now, but boy is it stressful, I've heard you talk about it as well, but I really wanna do this job and think it's a beautiful job, but I'm almost at the point where I'm like quitting, what should I do to reduce some stress and go trough it all and do this job without too much problems?
@RidingWithDave4 жыл бұрын
All I can say is keep pushin, it gets easier. Like I’ve said in videos, I was in the same exact spot you were but it got better just like everyone told me it would. One day at a time.
@MrZarewna4 жыл бұрын
Which country are you in at? It's the stress that makes you wanna quit but after a month or two you are in for that sweet sweet stress. That's what keeps you going. You'll become a adrenaline junkie. I remember my first days and weeks, I was late from my deliveries, boss was constantly calling and keeping a fire under my ass swearing as If it wasn't stressful enough to not find my way to the next stop etc. You'll learn. Also, if delivering stuff isn't for you, you can always give garbage truck driving a try for example, because at least in Finland there is really no time limit, just get your stops checked and the day is done. No one is calling after you "have you done this place already? Customers are waiting on the next one", that's never gonna happen.
@muneirovalibas61944 жыл бұрын
Well dude, trucking comes in all shapes and sizes so if you really feel like you cannot take this aspect of trucking, then maybe move on to smaller trucks or like someone said, a garbage truck (which actually pay pretty well, where i'm from). Or you can try tipper trucks.

Hey Dave! Been watching for a while. I drive with a 30' box trailer for my job (Mobile Video Game Truck Driver, 30' box trailer with double axles and extended tongue with 3 55" TVs and consoles inside and i go to bday parties all the time.) and have been looking into getting my CDL, you have been making me want it more and more. Been in some very sticky situations with backing up my trailer into some small driveways and small roads with a f350 full size bed and hope that will help me with trucking in the future! Watching you back up these 53' trailers has helped me with backing up my trailer! Keep up the great work! Thinking about doing some videos on the life of a game truck driver! Have been in some really sketchy situations in the city with my truck and trailer! (approximately 60' long in total) Anyways man, keep trucking and keep up the great content!
@Dwbi3342 жыл бұрын
The longer the trailer, the easier it is to back. Same principle for setting up though. Practice setting up the same way a cdl holder (class 1 here in Canada). Mastering that and add about 5 Mississippi’s depending on your speed and it’s a 1 shot. Mind you I drive off-road so I have football fields compared to industrial parks. I’m 24, make 120k cad a year first year running a semi with a 40ton crane. 120’ total length

Now that you're done playing on the big and flat roads, come play in Pennsylvania and Colorado. Let's get you hauling 45,000+ loads on them 2 lane, county maintained, roads with the 9% and 10% grades and plenty of twisties... Good job, driver. I was a truck driver for 13 years. I stopped driving 14 years ago. If it was, then, as it is now I think I would, probably still be doing it. With phone apps, GPS, satellite images, and yes that dreaded E-Log, it seems much easier, now. I would have killed for 10 hours of break time as opposed to driving until I was dead tired, sleeping 4 hours and doing it all over again. Cutting edge technology, when I stopped driving, was the ability to fax your paperwork to the office to get a faster paycheck. Oh, but there are many memories, of being absolutely lost, missing the turn off, and needing to drive 20 miles to find a place to do a u-turn. Ahh, the memories. I'd say "go for it". Hell, I'm nearly 50 and I'm really thinking about going for it, too.
