Installed mine yesterday. This video helped a bunch. Mine primed and shot out the filter in less than 2 seconds, maybe close to 1. Barely had it cracked, so only spilled a few ounces.

Great video! Easy install and great camera angles, thank you! Will be my next investment. I drive back and forth to Foley, AL, once a month, fill a 90 gallon bed tank-tool box and my 34 gallon on the 2004 crew dually LLY that just turned over 70,000 miles on the way back, averaged 22.2 mpg, pumped the truck tank full when I got home and had an inch left in the big tank, not too shabby for colder weather. I know you don't need hose clamps...but that would drive me bananas, I'll have to clamp!

I have an lmm crew cab dually long bed, for easier access to the fitting on the top of the tank disconnect the drive shaft from the carrier bearing and rear axle. Way less of a hassle than picking up the bed or dropping the fuel tank if you dont have all the right tools. @truck master

Got the quick connect fittings with my Kennedy diesel pumps. Found the easiest way to attach them was to measure your line twice cut once and then roll out from under the truck and go to the work bench and lube the hoses up and push them on placing the face of the fitting on a flat solid surface and pushing till the hose hits the upper shoulder... I saw a couple fittings truck master did that weren't on on the way....

Great video! I would add that the most difficult connection to the tank top can be simplified by using a male bundy to hose bib 1/2" adapter to make the tank connection to the existing hose. It makes the install much easier.

When I installed my 165 I didn’t crack the filter to bleed the air out. Yes it makes complete sense to do that but I believe in the install directions it’s says there is no need to. Everything filled and fired right up! I was impressed and very happy with the pump!

That makes sense because it seems the air will be purged through the recirculation side. I won't make that mistake again.

Hey Josh thanks for the video I know it’s a year later but I just installed my air dog 165 and my truck has been sitting for 6 weeks and usually it won’t start after that long and yay fired right up. Only difference with my LMM is the line you have to remove doesn’t require the fuel line disconnect. It had the red tabs to pull out. But extremely satisfied thanks for the video keep up the good work!!

Thanks for the tips, can say I've showered with the best of em now. These things prime up quick if you've filled the primary filter, get a buddy or preferably your hot-roddin lady to turn the key, you won't make it to the filter stack before it's pushing fuel out. Pro tip, throw a rag down on the impact zone of your drip pan to keep the splash to a minimum.

My top of the tank connection was a bit of a pain also when I installed mine, I took the left over hose section and cut it into like 3" sections and split it and then put it over the fuel lines with zip ties anywhere it was close to the frame or body to give it extra protection

Hey truck master, i installed this lift pump yesterday on my 2005 lly duramax. I used your video which helped alot but the engine has a totally different tone at idle and it has a loping sound to it which it never had before. Im gunna check the fuel pressure next, but do you have any idea why it is doing that?

@@wadecook7888 more than likely your fuel pressure is too high. There is an adjustment screw to make sure it is correct.

Just added one to my truck. Thanks for the video it was super helpful. I had different connectors on my tank and my fuse box was different but all in all pretty simple. My trucks 2010.5 so I think that's why it was a bit different. I had plastic connectors that I needed to pop the clip on with a flat head screwdriver.

Another way to get at the fuel line on the top of the tank is to remove the bed bolts on the drivers side and loosen the ones on the passenger side, then tilt the bed and secure it. If the line has never been taken off, even with the correct line release tool it takes some maneuvering to get it to release. Good choice with the Air Dog, the behind the frame rail hidden mount is the only way to go in my opinion. Great job with the videos!

I just installed an Airdog 100 on my LBZ. I did the bed tilt method to get the top hose off the tank. Thats the worst part of the whole job is getting that hose out. I gained 800 FRP and one thing that I was not expecting at all was a significant very noticeable boost in throttle response. The LBZ just seems happier and quieter now.

@Truck Master, do you not need go with a larger suction lime for the lift pump? I was reading through the AD instructions today and saw that with the 165 they recommend to install a larger suction line. Have you seen any issues with this or is the fuel demand just not there yet on WM?

If you’re struggling with those fuel lines, definitely take the fuel cooler off, 3 bolts… and I tried 4 sets of fuel disconnects. The GREEN set at AutoZone worked perfect. 1/2” confirmed. Also spray pb blaster and some kind of silicone lube where the tool goes first. Took me over 8 overs fighting those lines

Replaced the pump on my 1500 5.3. Had to get a replacement tank because the lock ring was rust welded. Was able to disconnect the rail lines but replaced all the plastic tank lines. Rust belt problems haha

Great video. I've had problems with my 03 Chev 3500 Duramax . New Injectors , new fuel lines, new fuel cooler . engine starts and idles then shuts down. I may have to install a lift pump. I've seen both videos with the Fass lift pump and this one. which one would you recommend.

When I installed my fass pump I didn’t have to remove the line on top of fuel tank. Fass provided the fitting to reuse the line you took off.

The lb7 duramax engine was put in the trucks until 2004, in 2004.5 the lly was put in. The front clip design was changed in 2003 to the new style, so 2003 and 2004 duramaxes had the lb7 engine with the "cateye" front clip. Im assuming that the white duramax is one of those two years.

dude thas very good work , I in stalled a 150 air dog on my 2014 2500 6.6 . and it still has a zigging sound . it too Noisy . I have been running it like this for 2 week ,still same sound

Do you know what would make my lly miss/buck under load? If in 5th gear I can slowly hit the throttle and it will surge/buck before taking off. I have no codes or anything. Also I just installed the air dog 2 165 in hopes to fix this issue.

If you are having any issues. Spray with penetrant like he stated. Then insert the 1/2 spin it around and pop it out and in. If still having issues use the bigger 5/8 ring squeeze it with your hand to make it close and insert that one and it should help pop it off. Good luck, definitely the most difficult part.

Working on a 2015 LML, I connected the AirDog 165 out fuel line to the OEM aluminum line going up to the engine. Is this OK or should I have run the rubber hose all the way???

Of course I ended up with the wrong pump I have an 07 and the kit I ordered is for a 15 or up. ?? is the difference just the mounting bracket ?? wondering if I could just make a bracket mod to fit my truck .
