Putting money into renewable electricity generation and making electric vehicles more affordable and practical would actually do something for the environment. Simply taxing people for using fossil fuels isn't going to help the environment, it's an obvious cash grab. Not like we need to be concerned about our carbon footprint anyways. China produces almost a third of global emissions and the US produces more than 10 times Canada's emissions.

The annual tap I was against as well. It’s the one thing that I have issues with the Conservatives. They should not get a 4 % raise every year. No one else can afford to give a cost of living raise. Or what the COnservatives plan will be when extreme weather events start to impact our infrastructure and cost us billions to repair. THis is the future so we need a plan. But the idea isn't it is just a tax it is supposed to make people and corporations try to think of ways to do things greener and be rewarded for it. It is a way for us to shift our mindset off of fossil fuels and into greener energy. And yes if countries all over the world including the biggest polluters adopted some form of carbon tax or carbon market it will have an impact on weather absolutely.

@@robweeks1453 Its a world problem and Canada is a very minor player. China contributes approximately 35% of the CO2 emissions. They continue to build coal fired plants. So does India. Canada can go to zero emissions tomorrow and it will have zero impact on the climate. I agree that we should shift our mindset from fossil fuels, but lets do it with out putting everyone in the poor house. We are told to reduce emissions and yet if you go to Walmart, Home Depot, Canadian Tire, any other store and the majority of the stuff in these stores is made in China, more than likely made with electricity from coal fired plants and shipped across the world using fossil fuels. We have to start thinking out side the box if we want to will solve this problem.
