That bass has a great tone. I can see why my brother would only use his Fender bass for gigs. Thanks....

Thank you! I'd like to request a lesson on how you learn a song by ear. Could you show us your process?
@cambridgebasslessons9 жыл бұрын
cherdrol Sure thing, that's a really good idea. Have you got any preferences to a song I would use?
@cherdrol9 жыл бұрын
I was thinking I'd like to see you take something with a lot of pops and slaps and mutes and demonstrate how you go about figuring it out. Your choice of material. Thanks!

cherdrol I've been thinking about your request, do you use any music software? When I'm learning a new song the first thing I do is place it in Logic. I will then loop each section until I figure it out. I'm up for this but will have to figure out how to record what's happening on the screen as well as me with the bass?

cherdrol I had a go mate kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z2KVkIV6mrieiZY not sure if it's of any help?

Nice tutorial Davey. I've always struggled to hear what's going on around 3.41 ish on the original. Have you ever worked that bit out? Another fav which no one has attempted a tutorial on - is Man (Live Version). Epic bassline.

Damon UK This guy Pete shows the notes of the other section kzbin.info/www/bejne/lZqXnoeXpbRljdE Yes I love the track 'Man' too. Have never worked it out but will get on it soon. Have a few other requests to deal with first

Thanks for your reply. It's not the slap bits I'm after but the intricate finger style run he does in the last chorus. Anyway, looking forward to Man (live) at some point. Cheers.

cherdrol Who by? I played on a track by Imogen Heap with the same name but imagine that to be a coincidence?

@cambridgebasslessons9 жыл бұрын
+Mathieu Vaylet I was only asked to work out this bit, I'll have a look at get back to you asap, have a few things in the pipeline at the moment so not sure when that will be but it's on the list. Cheers, Davey

In the chorus it acutally doesn't go D-Eb-E it goes D-B-E

Sorry, yes, I meant the Imogen one.

cherdrol Well that is a coincidence because it's me playing on the track! Blimey that was nearly 20 years a go. I'll have a look and get back to you asap

Hi, Davey. I do know how to use software and loop and whatnot. I'm curious about what goes on in your ears and head. Maybe you don't need to demonstrate what you're doing with the software? Thanks for considering my request.
@cambridgebasslessons9 жыл бұрын
cherdrol Ok I'm up for trying. It would be useful if you could find me a few slap bass tracks (Not Mark King) and I'll record the process of how I work them out. I'll struggle if it's some kind of fast double thumbing thing as that's not my style, maybe something by Stanley Clarke, Flea or Jamiroquai as I don't really know any of that stuff.
@cherdrol9 жыл бұрын
Davey--here are a few I came up with: Stanley Clarke Pop Virgil Jamiroquai Virtual Insanity RHCP Black Eyed Blonde. Care to try any of those?
@cambridgebasslessons9 жыл бұрын
cherdrol Sure I'll try the Stanley Clarke and RHCP, they sound interesting. I'll probably make a tit of myself but I'm game for a laugh!!
