It's now 2024 in California and we're starting to have to deal with the new "Green Energy" laws now. We are getting tired of what California thinks going green is all about. If we had logical thinkers running the state, it would be a lot better place to live. If you want to go green, here are some suggestions. Use hand tools only. Is that possible? For most of us, it is to a point. I think the best scenario would be to use a little human power, and a little gas power efficiently.

Didn't Ronald Regan say something about the 9 word statement that should be feared by all, "I'm from the government and I'm here to help"?

tools isnt really a big concern. Whats your solution to transportation, AC, etc. back to horse carriages and bicycles? We know how to make plenty of electricity, which is the most versatile form of energy we know. It just has been sabotaged for ages because you cannot exploit people with it as easily. Like, most nuclear plants are way beneath what is possible only because 1 method provides plutonium and the better ones not, so the worse one was built. Nobody will give up modern comfort for the sake of exercise

I totally agree with the nuclear plant generating electricity. As far as the transportation, I don't know what the best answer for that is. I don't want an electric car unless it would be secure in colder climates running the heat and defroster constantly. Air conditioning is something we never had when I was a kid, we seemed to survive OK. Maybe we've just gotten too comfortable with all our modern conveniences. I'm guilty of all of this. I have started using hand tools for weed control and landscaping at our place, and am really enjoying the peace it brings. I do think we could help in the transportation area in one area at least. Bring back the buses to take kids to school. I rode the bus when I was a kid, and yes it took longer to get to school and back, but it improved my social skills and have me a sense of community. Like everyone else, I don't have the perfect answers. I think of we are aware of our impact on the natural world, and do the best that we can with our own situation, we can move forward. Who knows, the answer might be right around the corner, we just don't see it yet.

@@fischertoolandgarden well, AC is just an example. Take a fridge etc. Regardless, curious how you require an electric car to run heat constantly. You cannot do that with a combustion car either. If you're referencing inefficiency of li-ion batteries in cold temperatures, there are already options with lfp, and sodium based batteries are even better. Choosing combustion vehicles over electric because they are good for heating (which ironically is the only thing they're good at since most of the potential energy of gas, is heat), is a bit nonsensical. If you're living in that kind of climate where it is so prevalent, thats a different story, but for the most part, a heat pump is much more efficient. As for busses, cool, but are you doing your groceries on the bus as well? And what about the time restriction of public transport. You're limited to the times it drives, and then you might out of luck and the bus is full of other people doing their grocery shopping. Public transport is great, but it also comes with problems, like finding the right time to deploy. If busses are deployed around the clock, they just waste energy as well. School busses is fine, because the time table is clear. For everything else personal transport is great. Dont get me wrong, im not trying to sht on you and i personally ride a lot bicycle, but ultimately, It goes back to cheap energy, and its very much possible. A lot of wind farms are actually shut down because they generate too much enrgy at a given time. Solar is great at times, and there are small wind catchers like the ventum or aeromine etc. Whats missing is energy storage, which is why battery development is so important

@fetB Good conversation! As far as the vehicles and heating, I used to live in a cold climate, it's -40 F there as I write this. Either you stay home next to the wood stove, or drive your vehicle with the heat and defroster on high if you want to get anywhere. Buses definitely for getting kids to school and back, I honestly wouldn't want to grocery shop using the bus. For those of us living in milder climates, we have a lot of options when it comes to transportation. Someone was building a solar powered car locally that could do short trips and be charged with the sun and, if needed, with a standard house plug. Battery technology is coming along. I run my refrigerators and freezer with solar and 800 AH of LifePo4 batteries. I think the salt battery technology sounds like it could be a better alternative. I run my dog kennel fans off of a solar panel and no battery in the summertime. I am also installing a mini-split solar air conditioner and heat pump next summer. It can run on solar only, no battery. We'll see how that works out. The purpose of making this video was just to show some of the options we have found. I used a scythe and sickle today for weed control on our property. I like bicycles for transportation and wish our area would make dedicated bike paths separate from the roads. That would be another step to truly going green. I've seen this done up in Alberta, Canada and don't see why it can't be done here. Anyways, that's another story.
