This is also useful for when you get the "stacks + out" combo with the dragon because you can just have the entire party stack south and tanks north to bait his half arena cleaves since he'll face the direction of a random party member, so then you can already preposition in west and east stacks without having to worry about boss relative positions. I've tested this in a few pf and as long as everyone is on the same page with the strat, it works consistently every time.
@AwefulWaffle88 Жыл бұрын
To each their own, but I disagree completely. You're asking for 8 people to stack up every time. I know that's not technically hard, but all it takes is 1 melee messing it up and you wiped. With boss relative, there are no mistakes. There is no "having to worry about boss relative positions". Wherever the boss faces, get behind him. Run through to dodge the second hit, and go left or right depending on your group. It requires less coordination than party stack TN and people can easily do this method without memorizing the fight timeline to make sure they're stacked. I'm not going to say TN isn't easy. It is. But it's also more work with a higher margin for error.

@ItsSVO Жыл бұрын
Relative is infinitely better and I don’t know why so many people want TN because ironically, its what is keeping PF’s from clearing the fight as it requires multiple layers of thinking for no reason whatsoever. If it’s the wall relative then the mechanic and positions are exactly the same nomatter the pattern as long as your camera is faced toward the wall you’re running to which it would be for most players.

It’s aids because people are doing TN for this mechanic which is much harder for PF’s to do as it requires multiple layers of thinking for no reason. If the strat was wall relative (camera behind you looking towards the wall) then the position is the same every single time nomatter the orientation. The amount of people calling for TN just shows how stupid PF players are.

Hey hector, is it possible to have melee+tank on north meteor tower and healer+ranges on south tower for more uptime?
@ethanlarge593 Жыл бұрын
For that you'd need to designate a ranged to go to the north stack if a melee gets the flare. The tanks will also need to notice if a melee has the flare as well so they can take their flare south. It's fine with voice coms, but for pf it's messy since that mech is already busy af. (I haven't seen what barse groups are doing but maybe they just always assume ranged gets a flare and position accordingly. They walled half of p8sp1 attempts after all)
@klownzorz Жыл бұрын
You can if you get lucky. But what if both tanks and both melee are towers? What if only a single melee and tank are open, which range flexes? With voice chat and call outs, it would be possible to do it on the fly, but in PF it will be tough to be able to.
@zydeox1221 Жыл бұрын
Never understood why boss relative strats are a thing. It was a shitshow with fourfold in pf constantly throughout different pfs when it was a horizontal north line safe. People would say it was boss relative and would proceed to not do it. And as for me i just think it's unnecessarily complicated to create a new west that is actually east because i'm facing the boss in the opposite way looking from north to south. My way of orientation is my minimap, creating a new relative direction when literally nothing in the map has changed just makes the mechanic harder. What's even more messy is that different groups will adopt different strats either boss relative or true north. Barbariccia also had this issue at the beginning but pf was quick to conclude that true north cardinal spots were just more common sense. I think TEA has good examples of creating relative north, the tornados on living liquid for example, it's so easy and handy to make the middle tornado a relative north because it's such a big indicator, Calibration beta has the dark xmas, blue, and nothing, if you make the west on the map a new relative north then the mechanic boils down to dark xmas goes right, dark nothing goes middle and dark blue goes left (LPDU) and makes everything so much simpler during progression or research of the fight. Now, creating new relative north spots out of random surprise is just annoying, because i am never inclined to think people want do boss relative as it just feels like a recipe to disaster to me. Might look like a rant, but it's just a reflection of my frustration when i see groups disbanding over something as miniscule as this.
@celestielsigh Жыл бұрын
I don't know why you're acting like boss relative is so hard lol. If the boss is always considered North and you always go East for mechanics its literally just look at the boss and go right no matter where you are in the arena...
@RoyWirapati Жыл бұрын
Do you mean for the spread/partners after the second explosion of fourfold when one side of the arena is safe (not diagonal safes spot like NE and SW)? If yes, I honestly don't know other way to easily resolve it without boss relative perspective, so pardon my ignorance if there's an alternative way out there since I have only done boss relative. For Barbie, yeah, TN and sword relative have been quite a debate from PF to PF which sometimes end up with disbanding after one pull when there's a disagreement. Hell, there are even people who said TN and then proceed doing sword relative somehow, or the other way around.

@@RoyWirapati The octa/tetra that i refer to happens after the 2nd lava vents explosions go off yeah. What i mean is to do it True north instead of boss relative. So if you're h1 for example, if both vents on north are safe, you are looking from north to south, since you're looking at the boss, meaning g1 would go east instead of west because from their perspective is upside down due to it being boss relative. So I just really prefer the concept of arena relative, where as boss relative basically means you're making the boss the new north.

Why would any serious players NOT face their camera where they’re running? TN games is making this fight cancer in the PF because it actually requires an extra layer of thinking that isn’t necessary.
@KaedysKor Жыл бұрын
I commonly do not. Using legacy controls setting makes it completely unnecessary, and it can often be easier to not spin the camera, either to keep track of some other mechanic or to avoid disrupting current orientation. Or just because I don't _need_ to spin the camera when I know I'm just going to immediately spin it back anyway, so why not just run with the camera still facing the boss.
@pluna3382 Жыл бұрын
Going into pf only made me realize that people are just directionally challenged no matter what strat you use. I especially don't understand TN for most of these strats since most of the mechanics are relative. It blows my mind that people would rather not use their camera and miss most of the mechanics that master controlling their view to make sure they see it coming. The only explanation I can think of is that people are cheating with the UAV mods.
@OrionXIXI Жыл бұрын
It's simply because of waymarks. You can spin your camera around all you want to see the mechs for movement and still keep track of exactly where you need to end up by just looking at your waymark. It removes basically all thought from the equation, and is why TN is typically preferred universally unless a fight has the boss spinning a lot, out of the tanks' control, which this one doesn't.

I am visionally impaired - to an extent - and use True North for everything. The only time I'm really forced not to is in TEA. Knowing A (or 1) is North /always/ is easy. It takes no effort to turn my camera to see where a mechanic is going to be. Let's take this fight and mechanic for example. Knowing I just end East for Group 2 no matter what is a lot simpler then worrying about where everyone else is going and having to turn my camera around to make a wall relevant. No cheats, just simple movements. No thoughts. Head empty. I focus on my rotation and call it a day.
@KaedysKor Жыл бұрын
This video is literally about a mechanic that is _never_ relative-oriented. The mechanic itself is always directionally-oriented, so why not also orient the strat that way? Spinning the camera around constantly can be disruptive to orientation, and frankly is entirely unnecessary in most cases, especially if you're using legacy movement (which allows running in _any_ direction at full speed without having to rotate the camera at all). It can allow you to keep track of the party, or some other upcoming mechanic, or melee range or w/e, while still dodging a mechanic. The _need_ to always have your camera pointed where you are moving is actually quite a bit more limiting.
