Great channel and Great video. love how Scott makes things simple and easy. you guys do a great job of presenting Scott's information! Mike I get what you are saying, my Wife started shooting 2 years ago. I have been taking her to classes and different instructors I have worked with there is so much I have "relearned" or just taken in by her approach to things that I missed previously. It has been a great to step back and watch. Thank You.

Really dig your vids. I recently upped my tooling and making better ammo. I REALLY like the KM 4 deg champher tool with stop. I'm neck turning and annealing, and even inner neck honing. I was able to get ~8ES recently where my buddy with factory was getting ~50ES (6,5 CM). Very good info around truing the BC. Another tip that I have been known to use is to put the chrono up at 600 behind the sighter plate if its big enough and you trust your rounds enough.

These videos are awesome. Thank you so much for putting them together. Quick question though-- I assume that truing BC is not a set it and forget it thing. How often is it suggested to true up? Different conditions? Before a match? Thanks again for bring this to the KZbin world!

Sometimes your BC will change lot to lot of bullets. Typically I reconfirm before every match. It is rare for me to change it after it’s set.

Total BC. Velocity is a separate Input in Applied ballistics.

Recap please. I don't understand. 1st seating starting at .030 to .060 so forth off lands up to .120 3 shot groups. Then ladder powder test at .2 gr difference 1 bullet each... At what seating depth? Why seating 1st and powder 2nd? Because case capacity changes w seating depth? Seems like seating depth at .030 or .020 intervals skips a lot? Please clarify. Thanks
@longrangewiththelillys1221
@longrangewiththelillys1221 2 жыл бұрын
Jeff. Scott’s method is to do jump first. He finds his jump and then does his ladder. So his case capacity doesn’t change.
@RangerCaptain11A
@RangerCaptain11A 3 жыл бұрын
on the kestrel to find aero jump, why not put wind at zero mph and the Left shift is your jump? example: at 600 yds, wind none, my windage is 0.69L. meaning i have to hold off 3/4 MOA only due to aero jump?
@longrangewiththelillys1221
@longrangewiththelillys1221 3 жыл бұрын
Are you talking aerodynamic jump or spin drift? AJ is a vertical number. Spin drift is a windage number.
@RangerCaptain11A
@RangerCaptain11A 3 жыл бұрын
@@longrangewiththelillys1221 wha . . ? that sideways movement is spin drift . . . so i can account for that with zero wind, then how much aero jump could there be at 600yds, for example, and is that already included in the kestrel come up amount?
@longrangewiththelillys1221
@longrangewiththelillys1221 3 жыл бұрын
The kestrel accounts for aerojump. So go to 1000 yds. With a zero wind look at your elevation. Then put in a 9 o’clock 20mph wind at the same distance and look at your difference in elevation. You can also do this with a 3 o’clock winds. Play with it let me know what you come up with.
@RangerCaptain11A

@@longrangewiththelillys1221 1000yds, 20mph @9:00 E 32.5 15.75L 1000yds 0 wind E 31.25 1.25L so the spin drift @ 1000 yds is 1.25L and the aero jump is 1.25U?
@longrangewiththelillys1221
@longrangewiththelillys1221 3 жыл бұрын
Sort of. This is a complicated subject. In my opinion the kestrel over estimates aero jump. But there are far better resources out there than us. But now you have an idea how aero jump works. Btw if you put in a 3 o’clock wind it will also be different but in the opposite direction. Hope this helps.
