Wait, you guys didn't? In my country, any candidates running for any seat will have to file in so many documents and turned out their financial reports, all kinds of it. If you want to run for governor? Run for presidency? ANYTHING. We found out about our candidates' debts and stuffs BEFORE the election. We have our own commision that will do a thorough check on a candidate to try and find any flaw in their financial reports, which our government tried to defund and limit a few months ago and received a backlash for.
