I recall a case where a property owner saw a drone hovering over his property where his daughter was sunbathing. He shot it down and the court ruled he was within his right to do so. True, but here is what you should consider. 1. The drones flying over and around airports is illegal. 2. Flying around and over restricted air space like military installations are highly illegal. 3. Given 1 and 2, the FAA or the military (who will always investigate and shoot down drones or any aircraft that fail to comply) have taken no action at all. 4. The government at every branch is coming up with one stupid reason after another. Given these, that tells you that these drones are either ours doing something that is illegal, they know it, and can't admit it without exposing themselves, or they belong to another country or group, the government knows it, and can't tell us what they are doing because they are involved.

Drones need to abide by the law also in that they cant go higher then 400 feet for safety reasons. I wpuld also say that i think for ethical reasons drones should stay 100 feet from a house either vertical or horizontal. But until they change that a drone is legal at any height close to the ground.I had to pass atest on this to get my drone license plus i have a pilots license. look it up.

First of all Drones have to abide by FAA Rules. I am a Private Pilot and according to the FAR's. Personal Airspace goes up to 500ft. Military aircraft can fly as low as 200ft. But Hovering over People and Personal Property is a different matter. If a Drone is merely flying over and not stopping i have not issue. However it is against Federal Law to shoot at Aircraft. I also fly drones an respect people's privacy, instead of shooting at a drone I would launch one of my own and make contact to discourage to invading drone from hovering over my property.

I am a drone operator and I definitely respect privacy. I don’t hover over peoples property and I don’t use it to spy on things. I use it for photography and livestock management. If I need to hover over an area I do it at 393 ft and zoom in. If someone can take that shot and hit my drone then they should be a military sniper. People are so on edge and worried about this and that. Just do you. Don’t worry about what others are doing. If it needs your input. You’ll be asked not taunted.

That drone was trespassing over the owners property. Someone operating that drone was/is committing a crime. If this was a government operated the drone they would have to have a search warrant to use that drone. Was that drone being used to spy? That's invasion of privacy. Drones go by weight and drones weighing over 249 grams you need to take a test. I know I had to take it. You have recreational flying and commercial. You have to go through more red tape if your flying your drone for commercial.

Drones , Drone, Drones folks they are here to stay the course. They are a type of aircraft and as such they fly like the crow, they don't follow the roads. However, it may be a good idea to have an easy way to identify them by type of drone, so people don't shoot the delivery drones down. Right or wrong is not the question being addressed here, but finding an easy way to ID drones so as not too shoot commercial drones down. Maybe light pattern may be used for an identifier, something that is easily visible day and night. Anyways some thought needs to be given on this topic.
