I am a Republican in Louisiana. I voted for Haley as a protest against Trump. I have never voted for Trump and never will! I voted for Gary Johnson in 2016 because I seriously doubted Trump would win. Then he did, so I voted for Biden in 2020. And I am doing it again!

So you know any other Republicans who voted Hayley in the primary? You're not a Republican if leftist media can introcrtate you for EIGHT FREAKING YEARS even though they're batting 0 even today. I get it, I didn't vote for Orange Man in 2016 because he was an odd duck. But then he became president and actually started fixing things that most Americans assumed couldn't be fixed. He was the best policy/substance president of the past 30 years. His policies had a 55% approval rating. That's unheard of. The idea that there are Republicans out there who don't care about reality, policy, substance, etc is a lie. People like you can fool other leftists, but you're not fooling anyone else.

I'm Canadian but let me offer some advice from afar because it's also happening in Canada. Those bragging about the economy are looking at it from a corporate/stakeholder perspective. It's not that we don't believe you, but when in the past 40 years has the middle class had an opportunity to invest much? For the average person, the economy is based on what we see; the cost of necessity items. Dems keep saying that trickle down economics doesn't work and yet they are not acknowledging that corporate and stakeholder revenue are exactly part of the average person's frustration. It's great to say the general economy is better, but they need to stop believing that anyone cares since it just proves corporations are profiting off the little guy.

@MichaelLochlann Yes, unfortunately in my industry people are still working long days. A 60 hr week is the norm once they put that "salaried" label on you. No one can afford to leave and these companies laugh all the way to the bank. Dems have to let us know that they see what's going on and that there is a way to fix it. Sure the job market is good, but what's the trade off? The overall economy can't be measured in the same way it was in the 80's

If someone (a political figure) publicly says they’re going to vote for Trump after saying what she’s said about him, do you think she will, in the privacy of the voting booth, really vote for him? I’m just wondering. Also, what exactly is she afraid of with Biden? Why do I never hear them state what that fear is? I really don’t see a single thing about Biden’s policies or what he’s done that is cause for concern. I sleep soundly at night (I didn’t for the 4 years of Trump). Yes, there’s inflation, but it’s moving in the right direction, and is still far better than anywhere else. And let’s face it, Trump wouldn’t have a clue what to do about inflation. Trump fast-tracked the Covid vaccine and then told everyone not to take it. How can anyone be undecided about who they’re voting for right now? I understand why the cult are voting for him. There’s no help for them. They would have been prime picks for Jim Jones. But independent voters who are having a hard time choosing between Biden or Trump? Really? Education in this country is so lacking. It’s the only reason I can think of. Lack of critical thinking skills.
@patmont27087 ай бұрын
Agree 💯%. How anyone can still be undecided on who will be better for our country at this point is totally mind boggling. It should be clear as day who wants to move the country forward in a positive direction and who is working for the people and not be self serving. How anyone cannot see President Joe as the most likely candidate and highly deserves four more years to “finish the job” is totally baffling. I will continue to support President Joe Biden. I can promise you she'd her answer would be along the lines of, "something something OPEN BORDER", despite the fact that the border is no more open under Biden then it was Trump, deportations have actually risen under this administration, and, honestly, the only real changes he made to Trump's border policies was to remove the waste (border patrol experts and admin told Trump that a wall was both impractical and unhelpful, but it LOOKS impressive and is something physical you can point to and say, "see, I solve the problem" which was Trump's main concern) and change some of the more inhumane policies such as family separation. My question is, if Biden is losing people who don't follow the news or politics, then what makes us think these people are even going to go out and vote?
@Gildedmuse7 ай бұрын
Because they voted last time. Maybe in most elections you'd be right, but the presidental election does tend to bring out the most voters, a good chunk of whom don't otherwise engage in politics. Plus, in this particular situation, a number of people came out last election, many just to vote AGAINST Trump. To pull off a second victory, we need to retain as many of those voters as possible, but unfortunately because they're so disconnected and apathetic towards most politics it can make it very difficult to get them engaged again once they've lost interest or feel Biden has failed/lied to them. Before, the threat of Trump winning was much more pressing since he was in office and it was impossible to escape what he was doing to the country. When Trump is up there calling reporters liars when they quote COVID statistics from his own CDC and continuously either brushing off or outright ignoring the growing number of dead Americans, there's no need to freshen people 's memories of just how horrible he is. In 2020, people were eager to vote Trump out. In the world of politics, however, four years is more than enough time for your low interest voter to forget just how bad things had been under Trump. They're likely not following the court cases, either, especially this recent one since there is no recording allowed, and reading a dry description of the proceedings isn't exactly going to help remind people how insane Trump had been.

37:54 The Alito flag thing, for all it says about Alito and the Supreme Court, isn't actually that important. We all know, and have known for years, that Alito is in the bag for every conservative hobby horse. The fact that he's announcing it is irrelevant. It would be like Xi announcing that he's against democratic reforms in China or Kendrick announcing he doesn't like Drake. The news is not that Alito flew a flag associated with a conservative cult, it's that he will suffer no consequences for it. The news is that the Supreme Court is 100% unaccountable and the justices can throw middle fingers to anyone they like. Alito is a symptom, not the problem. He's also _a_ problem, but not _the_ problem.

If you want to envision the future of the Republican Party, you have to look at Soviet politics until Stalin died.

So he’s leading with people who actually care about the country. Just like 2016 and 2020, the adults have to hold the hands of the useless morons we live with and try to get them to make the right choice. God I’m so tired of having to be a parent to people who aren’t my two kids.

Biden needs to be talking about how bad the economy was under Trimp, all the millions of lost jobs, the million or so unnecessary deaths, the factories that left. There’s a lot of people who seem to have forgotten this or have deluded themselves into a fantasy world

As someone who has never watched Survivor, I literally thought this was another of Tommy's AI voice ventures... And then I looked up the cast of the season and genuinely dropped my phone. And yes, yes I am currently at work -- luckily there's no one around right now cause that would've been fun to explain to clients 😂 ...I have so many questions, and also this may be the first time I actually watch any of those shows...

Also, I can't wait for Lovett's inevitable political rants in the middle of the woods as he begs the other contestants to laugh at his jokes

The flag flown in Virginia was done by my wife and in response to a neighborhood squabble. The second? What flag?

I never knew how much we walked among stupid people until the Trump era. Before, people preferred a democrat or republican candidate for whatever reason, like back in my parents'day. Now, with Trump's incessant fear mongering and blatant lying, its a whole new thing, the likes of which I don't think we'll ever see again, once he's gone. I long for the days when it was just a contest between two parties. This thing is psycho.

I remember being out of work for 2 years of Trump and a million people dying. Wasn’t paying attention to eggs. I also definitely blame corporate media which is odd cause if he wins they will cease to exist and possibly even your podcast

Yes, the Central Park 5 stuff was a while ago, but I think it is so powerful and really resonates in the way that some of the shitty talk and policy doesn't. His efforts here were more tangibly trying to kill young Black men - it feels more active or something.

It's also generational- maybe it doesn't resonate with younger folks but for me the unfolding story was formative, shocking... Kind of when I realized "there are no grownups." Also, it shows that this is who he has ALWAYS been.

Nate Cohn’s NYTimes article from today makes a solid case for why polls are skewed based on likely versus registered voters, and media literacy. Trump’s lead vanishes when one removes unlikely voters. It’s not a panacea, and there’s a lot of confounding factors for pollsters across the board, but the notion that polls showing Trump leading contain any plain truths is flawed. I recommend Nate Cohn’s analysis, it at least makes intuitive sense.

Ask Michael Cohen about Trump’s methods for poll rigging. The polls have been off since Trump came onto the political scene. Coincidence?
