Here's an easy way to tie down your hatch, boot or trunk lid. When you have stuff sticking out of the trunk or have the trunk full, you need a simple way to tie down or hold down the trunk or boot lid. Here's an easy way to hold or tie it down.

I thought of doing that, but the way my car is made, there is space on the side when the latch closes, the hook would have to be pretty thick to be sure it won't slide off.

Doing this shorted the hook on my 2016 Toyota Sienna to where no electricity flowed to the motor. With the hook in closed position, I was unable to close the rear gate. Pressing the gate lift button next to it yielded no sound. Pressing the gate lift button in the overhead console for 3 seconds yielded two beeps as if the door was disabled. I had to disconnect econnect the battery, manually close the rear gate as closed as possible, then start the van, lock and unlock the doors, press the rear gate lift button in the overhead console a few times to finally get the motor to reset.

Our backup car was hit in the rear, and that rod the clutch is sitting on is bent in the direction sure inward the car trunk. As a result the trunk won't close, since it is missing the clutch. I'm planning to repair it myself. Can you give me advice, is it better to pull on the damaged part with another car or I can simply return it in the previous position by knocking with the hammer over a small heavy dolly? My question is, i am trying to hold down my trunk on a Ford Fiesta because of the latch being broken. Like the part that latches on the hook at the bottom. How would i properly do that? I have two 36 inch bungee cords that i bought hopeing it will work to keep it from opening if it ever happens.

Is this safe to do if I’m transporting something heavy like a hutch/china cabinet that is too tall for me to close the hatch? I’ll be transporting it on the highway for about 60 miles. I did a pretty thorough job of measuring from the edge of the inside hatchback door (the narrowest part of cargo area) to the front of the driver’s seat, positioning driver’s seat as far forward as I can & still safely drive. It might fit just barely, but it’s possible it could be an inch or two too long to fit and close the door. If anyone has any additional tips for securing something like this, please let me know1. Hello! I know I’m 9 months late, but I think this is possible. There are different lengths for the bungee cord so your best bet is to get a couple and use the one that fits to where the trunk is the least amount open (so don’t use a cord that’s longer than necessary). Walmart & Home Depot have them cheapest. Backroads preferred but if you took the highway, right most lane the whole time. Hope you got it home 🤎

I just had this happen . Had to remove the cover on the interior panel over the lock and push the silver spring mechanism and it unlocked.
