I am a runner and I know Since I was 29--30 years old I had to in running give more time for easier runs between hard workouts like speed work or running hills where I needed 2--3 days depending on how intense the workout was, however a tempo run is not as bad and only need a day unless I did a long tempo run. Also, almost Age 29 in 2017 I was hit by a car and somehow almost no injuries but for 4 years after I could not run more then 1 mile in a single 12 hour period or I had hip pain/lower back. Only in end of 2021 could I really run again accidently running a harder 6.2 miles/10 kilometers on trails for my third run back where others were around 2.5--3 miles and easy.

My buddy and I both are 40 and are still hitting street spots and the parks around where we live. One thing I have learned getting back into it is I can't help but be super cautious in learning new tricks but the less bumpy long road does eventually get you there and getting hurt sucks.

This was so helpful, thank you. I'm a woman in my 30s with flare-ups of chronic pain/fatigue, but have been trying to get back into skateboarding recently - the benefits it brings to my life outweigh the cons at the moment (and hopefully for a long time yet). It reminds me to make the most of good health while it's here, and to just have fun because we can. I just take it easy and try each time I go out to make little improvements in my skills. I try not to compare myself to others, because my goals are not necessarily the same as someone else's. I also just really enjoy watching others skate, without feeling pressure to replicate what I see. I'd like to say I care less about how stupid I look, but being a girl skater in the 00s... felt like a hostile time... I still have some ghosts. The skate community feels more inclusive these days, or maybe as an adult that's just what I focus on more. Anyway, great video, well done all for braving the concrete 30s+

I'm 49. RN recovering from 2 broken ribs after a big slam at my local park. I've been through the physio fire so many times now that I know it's entirely a mental game. The strength of your mind and being able to visualize both the physical injury and how to recover is the key. Rest up / Do your research / Make a plan! I cannot recommend skipping rope enough as part of this plan. It's the ultimate skate / cross training recovery tool for longevity. It's low impact but works every muscle you use in skateboarding - especially combined with a few tricks to keep your routine exciting. It will send your cardio through the roof as a bonus. It will get you back on your board sooner so you can Skate or Die! Keep up the great content Zack!

I’ve noticed my skating has definitely changed, and like Spencer said once you stop flipping your board, it gets harder. But I still keep my kickflips and backside flips… I have no plans on stopping till my body actually won’t do it anymore. Lance Mountain put it best…” riding a skateboard doesn’t make you a skater, not being able to stop riding a skateboard makes you a skater.”

46 here. Is there an age where you should stop doing flip tricks? No. I recently finally landed the 8 basic flip tricks (not in a row of course). I landed my first kickflip when I was 44. Skating as you get older is such an individual thing. I'm loving pushing myself at an appropriate level to my skill and age. But what I pursue on a board is different from another person my age. As long as you're skating and having fun, nothing else really matters. Keep skating (or start today!), keep progressing (even if the progression seems small), and keep having fun. Thanks for this great video and discussion 👍
